We loved the look, feel and history of such a magnificent home built in 1897. The 4 post bed was very comfortable. Dinner was enjoyable and the hot breakfast was included & represented good value. The location is perfect with easy access to shops, restaurants and the waterfront.
It can be tricky to find as the signage is Huntington Manor and check in is via the back street of Huntington. The restaurant service was a little slow but no reflection on the lovely young woman who was working alone attempting to serve many people at once.

ambience old style mansion large rooms views location to inner harbour
The mansion is wonderful, a very nice example of a Victorian building. Free private car park. The position just a few steps from the ferry to Port Angeles, the beautiful Parliament, the bay, the downtown. Our friends room was amazing and both rooms were facing the bay. We didn't have breakfast because we had to take the 6:10 am ferry but in 3 minutes we got to the ramp.
I would have liked to stay a few more nights.
Great location, very good food and Victorian style very pleasant.
The charging system for breakfast was not clear and the staff did not provide detailed information. We got 20$ vouchers each day for booking through booking.com, however the staff did not check the actual amount spent but ue but took one voucher er person.
The rooms were lovely. The breakfasts were superb.
That we did't stay longer.
Great location on the Inner Harbour
The building is not only old it is extremely smelly! There are fans and air purifiers running in the stairway areas to circulate the air out of the building. There is no elevator and no assistance was offered to carry our bag up to the third floor. The room was not clean as you could see the dust had accumulated around the upholstery buttons. The t.v. remote did not work even after a staff member got an initial channel going.
Traditional house, Interior. Balcony. Location, close to Ferry terninal, traveler attractions.
No shower tap, but bath tub. Wifi signal frequently conflicts(maybe with other rooms?).
Location, value, and bed were all fantastic. Individual wifi routers meant excellent internet speed.
Bathroom was a big problem. No real shower, just a tub with a sort of hose that you can hold over your head. Impossible to shower without spraying water everywhere. A simple curtain and a hook for the hose would go a long way toward fixing this pretty huge flaw. Also a flimsy glass shelf over the sink was a problem. Glass fell off it and shattered in the sink. Everything else about the hotel was excellent, but the bathroom flaws were too serious to overlook.
We liked the style of the house.. living in an old English country house
Unfortunately the heating in the bedroom was on (in August !) no way to switch it off ..therefore the room was too warm for a comfortabel sleeping
Perfect location right on the harbor. Great complimentary breakfast. Staff was superb. Charming first floor with dining room tables on the porch overlooking the water.
We had room number 1, a 2-room suite with a living room and the only balcony in the hotel. There was no shower, only a tub. Room had ten coats of paint on woodwork and a shabby rug. The bathroom door wouldn't close because of too much paint. Balcony was dirty.
The staff (Jo-Anne, Jaime) were the best. Extremely friendly and knowledgable about the history of the Gatsby. Fell in love with the charm of the Gatsby the minute we walked into our room and even called some relatives that were visiting, to come down and explore the building. Very clean and comfortable, and we couldn't get enough of the view from our balcony. Just fabulous !
No shower, just a bath but not a big deal for us.
The décor, restaurant and tea room, excellent breakfast, gorgeous flowers/grounds. felt very European good parking secure surroundings
the music did not match the tea room atmosphere at all. going back and forth to other facility of course the place is "old" lots of stairs and small spaces. as expected.
Great location. Great breakfast.
Snafu with room assignment.
Location is great.
The staff at the desk were unfriendly and did not offer much information on the area. Upon check in, we were assigned a room on the top floor of the mansion. We had heavy luggage and had been traveling many hours to get there. Unfortunately, we were not offered any assistance in getting our luggage up the steep stairs to the third floor. We had to find the building maintenance man to help us with our bags. The room was not cleaned. The carpets were dirty, the furniture coverings were torn and it was dusty. The windows were broken and we had to prop them open. The bathroom had a vintage soaking tub, which was great, but had no hose to shower. There was no way to wash your hair except with the ice bucket! The next morning we took advantage, or not, of the breakfast on the beautiful patio. The breakfast came an hour and a half later....cold. We missed our paid tour of the city because breakfast was a mess. I went to the front desk and left a message to have the manager contact me and I never heard back. Needless to say, we were lucky to be able to check out and spend the rest of our trip elsewhere.
THE BILDING IS OLD
Furniture is classy.
Bath room facility is old.
Location good Breakfast good
Too chintzy Not very clean Steps everywhere and no help with luggage
Wonderful Victorian era home. Good staff - particularly front desk and in resturant. Fabulous breakfast.
Wife found lack of shower (hand-held in clawfoot tub) awkward.
Location good. Old style traditional rooms and features.
Check-in was difficult and staff not very welcoming.
We liked the staff, the location and garden and the breakfast was generous, fast and good. The mattress was comfortable and the room was very quiet giving us a good night's sleep.
Workmanship in the room looked like it was done by a handyman 40 years ago.
the ambiance was wonderful and it was close to all the harbour sights
the ad indicated the parking was free on site but the staff had a different interpretation and we had to pay for two nights parking. they said the parking was only free if we booked directly with their office. Even though it wasn't busy they didn't offer us free parking as a courtesy. If the season had been warmer the lack of air conditioning could have been a big problem because we were on the top floor
The location was superb, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the included breakfast was excellent.
Cleaning staff were inconsistent with how they made up the room in the morning. They wouldn't always leave enough towels, and wouldn't change the used glasses unless we asked them explicitly.
Nice view. Very helpful staff.
The lobby and room had a bad smell. The bathroom fan didn't work. Breakfast took about 45 minutes to be served after the order. Photos in the advertising don't represent the property very well.
It is a step back in time. You may have to give up a few modern conveniences but the location and the uniqueness of the place makes up for it.
