Food was amazing! Staff was friendly! Very quiet :)
Staff was lovely and helpful cabin setting beautiful, pet policy was great! Provided us with ice and glasses when we asked. Can't wait to return when there is snow on the ground!!
Would have liked a proper frying pan to cook pancakes. Some adult glasses and bowls were needed. (Not much we didn't like) family area needed lights but they let us go in other area to enjoy a game of pool
the setting was amazing and the rooms were comfortable. The rooms were clean and homey. loved the stay. Restaurant food wonderful and the view unmatched!! I have already recommended this spot to my family.
It seems that some of the property is in disrepair. The hairdryer came off the wall,(Wasn't fastened properly), and the bathroom fan didn't work. Room 33. (also just minor, but the battery in the TV remote needs to be changed. One of your staff graciously came and played with it, and got it going, but just in case it gets overlooked, I'm noting it here.
The view from our (2nd) room, the dining room breakfast waitress, the 7:30 guided morning walks with all the dogs, the pool, the breakfasts
We initially got put in a bldg which overlooks the parking lot, has one door and hardly any light and smelled horribly stale, we had to ask for air freshener, and were only offered a better room the next day when we complained; there were two other couples staying >2 nights also in this complex who did not complain but were very dissatisfied with their accommodation and will probably not be back. We were ready to leave the next day if we hadn't been offered a decent room. So I guess my point is that some of the rooms are quite old and out of date and not in keeping with the image of this resort. My suggestion for improvement is to offer the alternative low fat/cal options to guests who request it. We stayed for 5 nights and were in the area for family related business so could not be part of the organized groups, but I find it tedious to only have high calorie options on traditional menus, when I usually eat the more healthy way. I would like to make this resort my regular home away from home when I'm in 100 Mile, so hopefully some benefits are offered to regular guests, not just the packages.
We really enjoyed the hay ride at night. We star gazed while being pulled along a trail by Belgian horses. There was a donkey by the name of Pedro who was very friendly & photogenic!
Booked a room on the spur of the Moment, had an excellent meal in the Agnes Mcvee dining room, the ladies serving were wonderful. Nice relaxing and quiet room too. Will very likely come back again.
The location eas lovely and the horses and ranch life . We enjoyed all the staff. Trail rides excellent and hayride staff excellent.
The cleanliness of the pool and it was run down. The rooms are in need of updates in furniture it was old and tattered.the kitchen was hard to cook in with the fridge located at the front door. No hor.sepit and amenities where lacking.
Only the issue at the restaurant. Otherwise the 5 of us enjoyed our Chalet #10, the pool and hot tub. The Hills is a beautiful location and we will probably be back. Thank you.
we had a reservation for 7:30 as the kitchen was closing at 8. Sat on the balcony with a drink till after 8 and we had to asked what was happening and they were cleaning a table for us. As it is now so late we did not have full meals. One of the soup was cold, no napkins, no other drinks offered.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, food was great. Rustic relaxing setting.
Property could use a little upgrading, new mattresses maybe.
Old tv's, old beds, dirty carpet and tub
Spacious, clean, private, great value for money. Woke up one morning with about 6 horses grazing right next to our deck : beautiful! Sure the decor is quite dated, but the place is super clean and spacious and layout allows for privacy within the cabin as well.
The guided horseback tour with breakfast was well worth it.
The spa facilities, the restaurants, the staff
No fridge in room
Great venue, but very outdated.
Both restaurants are well furnished and the food is good in terms of North-American standards. The atmosphere is cozy.
The chalets have no airconditioning and there is only one bathroom vs. three bedrooms. The upholstery of the sofa and armchairs is broken and looks depressing. The sauna has nothing to do with the real sauna concept.
Breakfast was delicious
The road to the property is just a dust track. The room was dark and dingy, and looked like it had been furnished about 40 years ago. The carpet was dirty. The bathroom floor had long hairs on it, which were not ours. The whole place needs a complete renovation.
The location of the Hills Health Ranch is beautiful. It has the potential to be a fantastic and unique place to stay, with great views and a peaceful setting.
Unfortunately, both the chalets (number 3 and 4) we stayed in were very run down (balcony completely unsafe for young children, with nails sticking out of the wooden boards, missing slats from a high balcony), very old and run-down interior. We had dinner in their restaurant (since the kitchenette was too bare and the chalet generally too depressing and stuffy). Our waiter was nice, but the waitress who served other tables gave us the strong impression that we were not welcome with young children. Overall not a great experience and we won't return.
reception and staff were friendly.
breakfast at restaurant was fair. breads were stale and variety in buffet was very limited.
Too far away.
Access to an indoor swimming pool. Having a kitchenette in the 3-bedroom chalet so that we could do our own cooking etc. Recycle bin so that we didn't have to put recyclable items into the garbage. Multiple trails for hiking, biking & horseback riding. Helpful staff.
Perhaps they could see their way to sealing/blacktopping the driveway from the road to the main building. Very dusty and a little bumpy. Would like to see some sort of overhead shelter for the horses at the hitching post to give them some shade from the hot summer sun.
we enjoyed the breakfast meals and facilities staff was pleasant and accommodating with problems but the problems were all ready done and notes were taken but nothing done, trails were very nice...the ones we seen anyways. Wish we could of did a ride but weather permitting and time didn't let us
Did not like dinner options at the 1871...they preferred you to reserve dinner even if it wasn't busy, which I find odd if you have guest staying at the ranch everyone should feel welcome to use your facilities and they should have staff for this. you hire staff that can do split shifts or work in multiple areas in your lodge. customers should come first. we were seated in a diner where it wasn't even half full and waited 1.5 hours before we got our dinner and the waiter proceed to tell us the cook went home to check on kids...but in the meantime he didn't even ask us if we wanted another drink...I had to go to the kitchen and ask for it and when we finally got our meal I said something like this is unacceptable and any other place would of gave us a discount or all we got was 2 free drinks. we did not eat in the diner again. room service never stocked up room for us ...coffee...cream...sugar..no making of bed or shampoos...terrible...I did tell front desk
I liked the different activities we could do. The staff were VERY accommodating to our group of 4, added an extra horseback ride and made it possible for us to get spa treatments.
The Wifi in our cabin was hard to obtain.
Food was excellent.
Bed was small and squeaky.
Location and peaceful setting.
Weather too hot. Not controllable by owner due to unusual conditions.
The location and the idea of a spa right there is great. We enjoyed the balcony overlooking the valley even though we had to use our own chairs from home. The food at the restaurant very good and very well presented.
We couldn't book anything at the spa as it was all booked for the weekend. Our complimentary housecoat was so frayed it should have been used as a rag! The upkeep of the cabins - frayed curtains, wallpaper peeling, couch upholstery very worn, kitchen table worn and scratched, stained dining chairs, torn screen door, railing slats broken. The whole cabin requires some repair, remodeling and redecorating!
