Breakfast was delicious
The road to the property is just a dust track. The room was dark and dingy, and looked like it had been furnished about 40 years ago. The carpet was dirty. The bathroom floor had long hairs on it, which were not ours. The whole place needs a complete renovation.
reception and staff were friendly.
breakfast at restaurant was fair. breads were stale and variety in buffet was very limited.
Too far away.
Access to an indoor swimming pool. Having a kitchenette in the 3-bedroom chalet so that we could do our own cooking etc. Recycle bin so that we didn't have to put recyclable items into the garbage. Multiple trails for hiking, biking & horseback riding. Helpful staff.
Perhaps they could see their way to sealing/blacktopping the driveway from the road to the main building. Very dusty and a little bumpy. Would like to see some sort of overhead shelter for the horses at the hitching post to give them some shade from the hot summer sun.
we enjoyed the breakfast meals and facilities staff was pleasant and accommodating with problems but the problems were all ready done and notes were taken but nothing done, trails were very nice...the ones we seen anyways. Wish we could of did a ride but weather permitting and time didn't let us
Did not like dinner options at the 1871...they preferred you to reserve dinner even if it wasn't busy, which I find odd if you have guest staying at the ranch everyone should feel welcome to use your facilities and they should have staff for this. you hire staff that can do split shifts or work in multiple areas in your lodge. customers should come first. we were seated in a diner where it wasn't even half full and waited 1.5 hours before we got our dinner and the waiter proceed to tell us the cook went home to check on kids...but in the meantime he didn't even ask us if we wanted another drink...I had to go to the kitchen and ask for it and when we finally got our meal I said something like this is unacceptable and any other place would of gave us a discount or all we got was 2 free drinks. we did not eat in the diner again. room service never stocked up room for us ...coffee...cream...sugar..no making of bed or shampoos...terrible...I did tell front desk
I liked the different activities we could do. The staff were VERY accommodating to our group of 4, added an extra horseback ride and made it possible for us to get spa treatments.
The Wifi in our cabin was hard to obtain.
Food was excellent.
Bed was small and squeaky.
Location and peaceful setting.
Weather too hot. Not controllable by owner due to unusual conditions.
The location and the idea of a spa right there is great. We enjoyed the balcony overlooking the valley even though we had to use our own chairs from home. The food at the restaurant very good and very well presented.
We couldn't book anything at the spa as it was all booked for the weekend. Our complimentary housecoat was so frayed it should have been used as a rag! The upkeep of the cabins - frayed curtains, wallpaper peeling, couch upholstery very worn, kitchen table worn and scratched, stained dining chairs, torn screen door, railing slats broken. The whole cabin requires some repair, remodeling and redecorating!
Liked the quiet. I slept well.
The surroundings are nice. We didn't get a chance to use most of the amenities.
The rooms are pretty outdated. We had a double room with only one bedside table - seemed odd. TV didn't work (or we couldn't figure it out).
We liked the quality meals and general atmosphere. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub. The front desk could have been more informative about services... Chatted us up a bit:) I would have booked a pedicure for the morning if I had realised that service was offered.
Love the views, the quiet surroundings and the cool concept of this place! Something for everyone.
This was once a top of the line resort facility, but is in some need of repair and maintenance. It doesn't affect the service, which was excellent, but it is quite noticeable.
Staff, location and amenities all excellent
Shops closes too early
Feeding the horses, sliding on the snow, great sale on clothing in the shop
mini-fridge too small to hold our milk
X-country skiing was excellent, and trail pass was free with the accommodation. This $10 per person per day freebie makes the cabin price especially attractive.
The place is getting a little run down, but really compared with other local accommodation it is within range
I absolutely love the Hot Stone Massage from Anita. I get it every time I'm there and can't imagine anyone else doing it. We stay in Chalet 20 every year and occasionally if we travel there more than our yearly getaway, we stay in the King Room. Brilliant staff and the tobaggan hill is so much fun!
We would love to see some updates to the chalets. Although I like the "rustic" charm, the wallpapering and the 80's valances are truly outdated and "take away" from the whole Hills experience. Also, it would be great to get wifi in the Chalet- there are cheap and easy ways for the hotel to do it... just an added touch to the customer service!
I love this place. Low key and far away from crowds, it has ski-in access to the best cross-country ski trail network in Western Canada. There is other fun stuff to do there, but skiing... Skiing is best! ^_^
It was a great location and a good value for the room
The food was cold both nights potatoes lumpy would stay again but not eat there. when booking they did not tell you it was $50 pp to attend the new years events and that everyone from 100 mile house attended, our children where told they had to give up there tube as not enough tubes for the children, we also couldn't find the DJ that was suppose to b there sounded like radio station bonfire was a very tiny camp fire plus they tried to add $50 tip to our bill after I tipped for each service I was provided.overall had nice stay wouldn't ever attend new years there again tho.
It was great being able to step out our door and have so many options to chose from; downhill skiing, tubing, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, snow mobiling horse drawn sleigh rides and dog sledding. Wow!
I found the staff to be a little disorganized, and some weren't as knowledgeable about the activities, and weren't able to appropriately direct us according to our ability level.
The views, the activities,
mattresses were old and hard, food wasn't very good at lounge
Sleigh ride was nice except for the stop at the teepee. It was far to long and the sing along was awful. Not good for kids at all.
Really enjoyed the variety of activities that were available
The food was not at all up to standard for the price and perception of the menu
Saw some reviews that weren't great, but we found everything to be wonderful. The restaurant has new chefs, and the food was terrific. It is a restful and quiet place at this time of the year - late November, and enough snow for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, etc.
Thought we were getting a room with a single queen - but turned out to be 2 beds. That means only one chair to read in... But still a comfortable room.
Staff were courteous and helpful. Quiet, country location, free from traffic noise. There are numerous trails on the property, offering a walk in the woods.
Rooms are tired and need refreshing. The restaurant was a disappointment. They butterflied half a chicken breast drying it out. Desserts were factory made with a few berries and a dollop of whipped cream to give it a fresh made look.
