Ships, ships, & more ships. Close to great dining, & Niagara falls Small town & accommodating. Got everything, never board.
The Inn at Lock 7, is the coolest place to stay! I've never been a big vessel fan, but it really is so much fun watching the cargo ships pull in and out of the lock. It's fun to watch the water drain and fill, and wave to the crew on the ships and on the other side of the lock. I've never had so much fun going back to my hotel room! The beds are firm, but comfortable. I like a firm bed, so I may be bias about that.
I honestly can't think of anything I didn't like about the hotel. It's a bit dated, but not shabby by any means. It's very clean and kempt. There was a flat screen tv and a small table and chairs on the balcony, everyone on the second and third floor gets a balcony. You get soap, but other amenities don't come in the room, such as: shampoo, toothpaste, hair dryer, coffee maker, etc. You need only ask the front desk and they are happy to supply you with the item.
The price was good. I liked that all rooms faced the canal and had a balcony. The rooms and bathrooms could use updating however they were clean.
I know I stayed during the off season however the heat in the room wasn't turned up prior to my arrival. Also the fridge wasn't turned on for me
Seeing the ships
Missed the coffee
the close proximity to the canal and nearby attractions. We never tire watching the ships going through the locks.
room seating is not very comfortable
Always enjoy the view of lock 7 -simply a beautiful spot
the view was great
No breakfast no coffeemaker in room
Great view of the canal - a pitching wedge away. Neat to watch the ships go thru - all rooms have a balcony unobstructed view.
breakfast - ought to have had some fruit (after all were in the heart of Niagara) wasn't memorable but satisfactory - Unique decorating scheme about the history of the Welland Canal.
Clean rooms Easy parking Great View of the canal Quiet
No Coffee, For over $100.00 a night you should get a cup of coffee.
Charming and interesting
Quite Old, not that clean
Location, wifi availability, friendly front desk upon arrival
Bathrooms are getting tired and need a major renovation. Kitchen was not open for coffee etc as on previous visitsm Shortage of electrical outlets for computer & recharging devices Room lighting wants upgrading
Great value, best view of the Welland canal - fascinating to watch the ships go thru the lock. Be sure to pick up the ABC's of the Seaway booklet.
The location was the best feature as the room overlooked the locks and we could sit on the balcony and watch the ships go through the locks. The room had a small refrigerator which was helpful.
Although the room was clean the towels were very thin. No shampoo provided. The hallway and stairway were in need of some repair and upkeep(broken cement). The outside of the facility looks in poor repair. The breakfast limited to cold cereal and toast.
We liked the view from our balcony of the ships as they entered and left Lock 7.
Facilities are getting a little dated.
The cozy location. The staff made you feel very welcome. The very best part of the stay was being able to sit on your own balcony and watch the ships come thru the lock. We really enjoyed our stay at The Inn At Lock Seven and hope other travelers consider this hotel.
Needs updated, we had to hunt for electrical sockets for all of our electronic equipment and other items.
The unique value to this hotel is the very close view from the small balcony of ocean going ships going through the locks The proprietor was very friendly and helpful The room was clean
The building was very shabby and needs a complete rebuild. The furnishings, especially in the bathroom, need complete replacement. No shampoo is provided and the soap is poor quality. Everything is just barely adequate.
great view, cleanliness
continental breakfast terrible
* Quaint appearance * Host was cordial and courteous * Convenient views of the canal locks * Easy access to points of interest in the Niagara Region * Quiet atmosphere
* Entrance to First Floor corridor was unattractive and not easily recognizable for what it is. * First Floor corridor was sub-par, poorly lit; unpainted flooring more befitting a basement store-room than an approach to guest rooms.
Close to the falls. Only 15 minutes by car. It was clean and quiet. The room was big! The host was very nice and very helpful regarding our needs. It has free parking as well.
Very simple breakfast don't expect too much about it.
The boats rising up in the lock just outside my bedroom window.
The room was clean and it was cool to see the ships go through the locks.
The breakfast was very disappointing. Toast and dry cereal only. The room smelled musty. The cement entrance to the room was unappealing and unattractive.
Everything: services, friendly staff, cleanness and peace
Location was wonderful overlooking Lock #7 on the Welland Canal Staff sufficiently friendly, without a lot of fussing - OK with me. Ships coming and going at all hours, which is what we wanted to see. For those concerned about the last remark there is actually no noise from the Lock operation or from the ships themselves. So if you want to sleep, no problem.
Very 60ish. Beds: OK Room: very dated. Bathroom: overall sense of yucky! Tiles broken and grout missing. I think they are trying to do stuff but not hitting the mark yet. Location seems to be setting the price, it sure isn't the quality of the accommodations.
Staff was very nice and accommodating
Very hard beds.
View from the rooms of the lock was nice. Rooms were clean.
Very expensive for what you get. Extremely outdated rooms and beds were hard as a rock. We were travelling with three other couples and their rooms were the exact same, horrible beds and very poor value for the money.
