The cozy location. The staff made you feel very welcome. The very best part of the stay was being able to sit on your own balcony and watch the ships come thru the lock. We really enjoyed our stay at The Inn At Lock Seven and hope other travelers consider this hotel.
Needs updated, we had to hunt for electrical sockets for all of our electronic equipment and other items.
The unique value to this hotel is the very close view from the small balcony of ocean going ships going through the locks The proprietor was very friendly and helpful The room was clean
The building was very shabby and needs a complete rebuild. The furnishings, especially in the bathroom, need complete replacement. No shampoo is provided and the soap is poor quality. Everything is just barely adequate.
great view, cleanliness
continental breakfast terrible
Close to the falls. Only 15 minutes by car. It was clean and quiet. The room was big! The host was very nice and very helpful regarding our needs. It has free parking as well.
Very simple breakfast don't expect too much about it.
The boats rising up in the lock just outside my bedroom window.
Location was wonderful overlooking Lock #7 on the Welland Canal Staff sufficiently friendly, without a lot of fussing - OK with me. Ships coming and going at all hours, which is what we wanted to see. For those concerned about the last remark there is actually no noise from the Lock operation or from the ships themselves. So if you want to sleep, no problem.
Very 60ish. Beds: OK Room: very dated. Bathroom: overall sense of yucky! Tiles broken and grout missing. I think they are trying to do stuff but not hitting the mark yet. Location seems to be setting the price, it sure isn't the quality of the accommodations.
Staff was very nice and accommodating
Very hard beds.
View from the rooms of the lock was nice. Rooms were clean.
Very expensive for what you get. Extremely outdated rooms and beds were hard as a rock. We were travelling with three other couples and their rooms were the exact same, horrible beds and very poor value for the money.
The view of the locks was fabulous. Balconies were great.
Air conditioning was on full but still did not cool room adequately.. and it was not even very hot outside Continental breakfast could have been better... fresh fruit in season would have been wonderful.
Fascinating to see ships move through lock 7 Owner was extremely helpful Premises very clean and quiet, other than some noise when a ship was in the lock. Good location, close to wineries, Niagara on the Lake, Queenston Heights, etc
Inn is basic, so don't expect extras like shampoo, hair dyer. Thorold does not offer a lot of choice for dining.
friendly owner and staff quiet area of town
small parking area
Great place to go for a quiet getaway! Checking in was easy, we got our room early as it was ready. Very accommodating. Wonderful view of the lock and short walk to downtown as well as look lookout point.
No coffee maker in room, breakfast area was not ready before 7:30. Need to have fresh fruit included in their continental breakfast.
Loved the location. I was kept busy watching the ships travel through the lock.
Could use a little updating but otherwise very clean.
The room was very hot when we walked in but when we turned on the air conditioner, the room was never cooled down. When we got back from dinner, the room was still not cool. The only section that was cool was the entry alcove. Last year, the room was much better. We were never offered breakfast as we were last year.
Liked being away from the Niagara Falls area. Liked being very close to Lock 7.
Did not like the old, very drab (worn out!) hotel. Expected to be more comfortable for the rate charged. Location is nice, but upgrade is required.
Everything. Cleanliness, Breakfast, View, Air Conditioning, Staff.
price and location
towels were a little "thin" and perhaps the breakfast - maybe add muffins or bagels?
Despite the seemingly stiff mattresses, I slept very soundly. Staff was very warm and welcoming. Room was nicely furnished, and it was nice to have a deck.
Shower curtain was missing the inner liner, wifi was excruciating slow, and breakfast was a very, very limited selection.
The manager made us very welcome and made certain we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The Inn provided excellent access to the Niagara Region for restaurants and shopping and a spectacular view of the Welland Canal's Lock 7. As a retired St Lawrence Seaway employee now living in Nova Scotia, it was entertaining being on the sidelines watching the ships pass through Lock 7.
View of Lock 7 and the ships from our patio was great. Beds were comfortable and continental breakfast fine.
Air conditioners need upgrading - very noisy.
Friendly staff Watching the ships come in and out of the locks. Close to falls Small town
Breakfast needed more items like yogurt and fruit.
Viewing the locks and the ships. Many pictures of the different ships that have come through are on the wall of the breakfast room. Quite impressive!
Dated furniture and bath.
The hospitality was fantastic! Having a wi-fi code for each device is a great idea--better security. Location is fun -- overlooking the Lock. Parking is easy.
Bed wasn't as comfortable as I had hoped for.
Being able to sit out on the balcony.
The location just in front of the Lock 7.
A/C old and very noisy. The access to the rooms on the first floor is scary. Wooden tables at the back of the hotel full of little bugs, could not use them.
