The in-hotel restaurant breakfast menu (complimentary) was great. The service was exceptional. The room was quiet - even though we were right downtown.
Recently updated rooms, friendly staff, centrally located.
The building exterior is beautiful, but the interior is desperate for renovations to public spaces. The hallways are battered, stale smelling. Only one elevator worked during my visit in August.
The Marlborough is a diamond in the rough with old world charm and good value for the money right downtown.
It's a bit rough and can be noisy into the layer hours
Liked the fact the staff let people pass out in the lobby and sleep on the couches and chairs all day
The fact there is no restrictions for the natives to run around trying to bum off of people and being drunk in the lobby and elevator and being a horrid example of the integrity of this staff and building
Sheet were clean.
The blood stained carpet, the elevator that didn't take us to the right floor.
The ambiance in the 100-yr old hotel was very enjoyable. The facilities for the wedding we were at were very suitable and we had a lovely event.
Parking for overnite guests could be explained better at registration, since we had a ticket through ignorance. Loiterers around the hotel were not a plus in our experience.
The secured floor was accessed by card. The breakfast was excellent and choice off the menu was included. The staff friendly.
Parking was not included though it was convenient.
It had bedbugs
Location,Front desk staff were excellent.
No parking, carpets in the hallway were in need of replacement.
Everything, just everything. Best hotel out of 6 I visited during my trip.
facilities, cleanliness, no parking, rate (not valuable)
The staff tried their best to make us feel comfortable, but seemed to realize that this wasn't the best place to stay. The breakfast that is included was good, and served in a lovely dining room.
When we arrived, the pool was closed, and the laundry services were under repair and also closed. Two of the icemakers were broken. The pool reopened later, and my kids loved it (because it's a pool), but I found it dirty and in disrepair. It also smelled very strongly of chemicals, which made me feel a bit ill. The hot tub was in the same disrepair (broken tiles) and it was dirty (sand on the floor of the tub, and mouldy tiles around the edges). Our room was very basic. The sheets and towels were clean. The carpet could have used a cleaning. I got a mini fridge when I requested one, but one of the hinges was broken. The location was decent, but not exactly in the middle of the action. There is no parking, so you have to pay extra for that. This place needs a lot of repairs and TLC. It smells a little funky. I would not recommend it. There are cheaper alternatives that are cleaner and have better value.
Grand Old style hotel feel with a friendly staff and a pleasant restaurant in the Downtown area.
Staff was not helpful, elevator to pool smelt like urine, pool was filthy could see all the dirt around edges and bottom, possibly mold who knows, the hallways smelt like someone died there even the housekeeping staff were wearing face masks for the smell, the dishes on the restaurant were dirty and random people walking around trying to sell drugs (non guests) elevator wouldn't work on a regular basis and doors at top of stairs were locked and room keys would not work for them, no fridge in room so one was brought to us but it didn't work. Suppose to have a superior queen room but the bed was small and so was the room, the front desk had a sign saying we could pay cash at one of the parking garages but only credit was accepted there and we didn't have one so we were stuck in there, extremely disappointed in this disgusting hotel, we will never return and will also warn others not to go there, definitely not worth the money we paid!!!
The housekeeper Alma. She is a great worker, friendly, polite, her work is perfect. The location of the Hotel.
The rest of the staff, rude, they lie all the time, bad attitude, unprofessional. All of them need classes of customer service.
The staff was very friendly and accommodating
Our fridge was broken, it wasn't keeping anything cool and all our groceries went bad. They said it was because its not a home fridge so it doesn't keep as cold but i have a mini fridge at home and keeps this cool, our beverages weren't even kept cold when just purchased. Everything was room temperature.
The bed was comfortable. Breakfast (included) at the cafe was very good. Location!
Old (not in a classy way), barely clean, (mostly) unfriendly staff. Wi-Fi never worked. View from our room was depressing through a jail like window. We moved after one (of three scheduled) night.
I love this hotel and have stayed a number of times over the past 20 years. It is part of the classic heritage of Manitoba, celebrating 100 years in 2014. The building retains many of its signature features including the facade, dining room and charming coffee shop. The location is excellent, walking distance to most attractions, and on the edge of the Exchange district. The beds are excellent with down duvets, fine cotton bedding and good quality Canadian made cosmetics. The staff go out of their way to assist. We were there for a flower show and they put our material into the fridge and froze ice packs for us. Breakfast is included with menu selection from several choices. Plenty of municipal parking in every direction, just outside the door. Good swimming pool.
The parking tends to get expensive if you need it 24 hours with in and out privileges, This is not the hotel but the company that runs the lots. Some issues with maintenance in a building of this age. The front door needs a bit of sprucing up
Clean, spacious room. Really comfortable bed. Ease of access to University of Winnipeg. I Loved the extant historic architectural features - you should make more of them!
The foyer and check in point are a bit shabby, and not well lit. The external street scape does not do justice to the charm of the building. Some of the staff were charming and friendly, while others were surly. The local prejudice about the safety of The Marlborough was shocking to me and disconcerting and seemed to be quite unfounded - you should work with the city authorities on that!
I like the staff there were very nice and helpful
The smokers in front of the building
Good breakfast, friendly staff.
The interior is worn, and due for renovations. While our room itself was very nice, the hallways good at best be described as somewhat shabby.
Location was not in very good area would not tourist to stay here as not much to do without using car
Everything except the breakfast
