My room in this well-restored and well-cared for building was comfortable, immaculate and well-appointed. The complimentary breakfast was good. Frankly, I don't understand why it wasn't crowded with guests and the rates doubled. If they were, they'd be more in line with the places I've stayed in my trip from Vancouver to Halifax.

I like the service. The way the front desk approach the guests. I like the way they did to the room. With flowers,wine and chocolates.
The indoor pool is so dirty. The phone at the poolside is not working. Jacuzzi is so dirty.
Stayed one night , you get what you pay for. Slightly run down but it was built in 1914 so it's kind of cool for a traveller. If you want something that doesn't have history and creepy elevators don't stay here. I thought it was a nostalgic experience. Breakfast was also amazing. The dining room on main level is absolutely stunning. The beds and bedding were comfortable on 4th floor and it's a locked floor so sense of security.

Building seemed worn and in need of rnovation. One elevator not working and lobby furniture should be immediately replaced.

The Wi-Fi isn't totally reliable, the air conditioner has no visible off switch, the bathroom is a tad small.
The in-hotel restaurant breakfast menu (complimentary) was great. The service was exceptional. The room was quiet - even though we were right downtown.

The building exterior is beautiful, but the interior is desperate for renovations to public spaces. The hallways are battered, stale smelling. Only one elevator worked during my visit in August.
The lobby looked great, the employed were welcoming and chek in was fast. We got are room key and got to the elevator. We were waiting almost 10min for it because one of them was broken so we decided to take the stairs.. The whole stairway was smelling moisture so bad that my boyfriend was almost sicked. We finally get to the room.. The same moisture smelling, sticky carpet, broken air conditioning, broken ice machine, and wierd custumer (there is a club on top floor so we met all kind of people even in the hotel hallway.. Not a place for kids!!!) we got to the front desk asking for our money back and they give us an other room. Way better than the other one but still smelling moisture. The only reason why we didn't moved to the radisson across the street is it was 2:00am..
The Marlborough is a diamond in the rough with old world charm and good value for the money right downtown.

The fact there is no restrictions for the natives to run around trying to bum off of people and being drunk in the lobby and elevator and being a horrid example of the integrity of this staff and building

The ambiance in the 100-yr old hotel was very enjoyable. The facilities for the wedding we were at were very suitable and we had a lovely event.
Parking for overnite guests could be explained better at registration, since we had a ticket through ignorance. Loiterers around the hotel were not a plus in our experience.
The secured floor was accessed by card. The breakfast was excellent and choice off the menu was included. The staff friendly.

The staff tried their best to make us feel comfortable, but seemed to realize that this wasn't the best place to stay. The breakfast that is included was good, and served in a lovely dining room.
When we arrived, the pool was closed, and the laundry services were under repair and also closed. Two of the icemakers were broken. The pool reopened later, and my kids loved it (because it's a pool), but I found it dirty and in disrepair. It also smelled very strongly of chemicals, which made me feel a bit ill. The hot tub was in the same disrepair (broken tiles) and it was dirty (sand on the floor of the tub, and mouldy tiles around the edges). Our room was very basic. The sheets and towels were clean. The carpet could have used a cleaning. I got a mini fridge when I requested one, but one of the hinges was broken. The location was decent, but not exactly in the middle of the action. There is no parking, so you have to pay extra for that. This place needs a lot of repairs and TLC. It smells a little funky. I would not recommend it. There are cheaper alternatives that are cleaner and have better value.
Grand Old style hotel feel with a friendly staff and a pleasant restaurant in the Downtown area.
Staff was not helpful, elevator to pool smelt like urine, pool was filthy could see all the dirt around edges and bottom, possibly mold who knows, the hallways smelt like someone died there even the housekeeping staff were wearing face masks for the smell, the dishes on the restaurant were dirty and random people walking around trying to sell drugs (non guests) elevator wouldn't work on a regular basis and doors at top of stairs were locked and room keys would not work for them, no fridge in room so one was brought to us but it didn't work. Suppose to have a superior queen room but the bed was small and so was the room, the front desk had a sign saying we could pay cash at one of the parking garages but only credit was accepted there and we didn't have one so we were stuck in there, extremely disappointed in this disgusting hotel, we will never return and will also warn others not to go there, definitely not worth the money we paid!!!
