The accomodation was clean and simple. The location is second to none. Everything we enjoyed was in reasonable walking distance.
The beds are so comfortable! I could sleep in them forever. Free toast and coffee/tea in the morning is perfect after a night out. My love and I went there on our first date and returned on our 1 year anniversary. We love it at The Rex.
For an overnight stop within walking distance of Union Station, it was just what I wanted. Nice friendly atmosphere in the pub made for a pleasurable evening.
The staff there is very friendly and helpful. Location is good if you wanna go to the U.S consulate. Although there is a bar downstairs, it's not that noisy during the night.
The room is too "basic" though. No desk lamp in the room.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, as this was my first visit to Toronto. The shared bathroom was a strange concept at first, but it was very clean as well as the rooms. The hotel is right in the middle of downtown, and is less than a block from the subway.
The jazz music was a little off-putting, as it woke me up in the middle of dead sleep. If you can request a room away from the bar, do it, unless you don't mind lively jazz music erupting from the floor. There aren't a lot of options for vegetarians, and the meal I had at the bar was mediocre at best, but there are so many other restaurants in the area, I found this aspect to be negligible.
The hospitality and location. Jazz acts were good too. The room is pretty basic but clean. Great value for money
Room was basic and windows didn't open.
This hotel was very convenient to the Osgood station. Nice atmosphere: You listen good music!!!
The location is good for getting around Toronto. The bar staff downstairs are helpful but....
The hotel is a seperate business to the bar/music venue so nothing is taken into account of you being a "resident". Therefore during performances (which are regular) you are charged $10 per person to just be in the bar. I think this is really poor considering you are paying to stay there. The hotel just about scrapes through in appearance. The corridor carpets need to go and the rest of it feels a little done on the cheap. Some money needs to be spent on the decor to make you feel like you are staying in a B&B not a hostel.
Location, breakfast, place cleaness, tranquility, the brazilian staff girl (very lovelly) & GOOD MUSIC....
Staff (lack of) simpaty. Being an hotel, simpaty is essencial !!!!!
Great location - Breakfast with toast and coffee was perfect - Room clean and comfort
Great soundproofing Awesome staff Unique atmosphere Fantastic experience
Average room quality and cleaning Poor hot water pressure
I liked the appearance of the hotel and it had a great atmosphere.
Staff could have been a bit more friendly and accommodating. Would have been good to get a discount to the shows playing as a hotel guest.
- Great to have the option to hear live jazz music in the Rex Jazz Club - Nice to have option of toast and tea/coffee for free in the club on a morning but service was slow
- Room was very basic and in need of a revamp/clean - Road was noisy at times (couldn't hear jazz from second floor room though) and our room was missing a curtain over the smaller window. - In retrospect we wish we had spoken to the staff about it during our stay as we didn't give them a chance to do anything to fix it
Bob & his staff are great
slept front room close to traffic noise all night
Ideal downtown location, we could easily walk to anywhere we wanted to visit. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, they even offered to store our bags for a day after we checked out.
The hotel room could be a bit cleaner and since our window was directly on Queen, it was a bit noisy at night.
A good bar with good live music in the heart of the town.
soft mattress tiny room shared bathroom
On arrival staff behind bar could not too enough for us. When we were leaving in bar area we were offered a hot drink while we were waiting for our taxi
No dislikes, what we got was what we paid for.
Nice enviromet, Exellent food in the pub dowstairs not expensive, close to the centre of Toronto young staff helpfull
small rooms. The only negative thing was that at the beginning of the meal they asked us 10$ each because there was a concert around 9,30pm was a little bit rude, bacause we din't have any other choice, eat and pay for a concert which we were not really interested, or leave half of the food on your plate and leave the pub. The boy that was taking care of the concert came twice toc and ask what we decided to do...
Clean Close to amenities Friendly, helpful staff
No phone/ fridge
Super central hotel, major attractions are near(walking distance).CN Tower,Aquarium and etc. McDonalds 10 min walk,Tim Hortons(Burger King)around the corner.Shops, restaurants,China town right there.Nice comfortable bed. Clean basic room. People are nice and friendly. Internet is free and was working fine.
We were staying for 6 nights, nobody changed towels and sheets. For this price, they should. AC was so loud and noisy, like sleeping under airplane engine. Super basic hotel,do NOT expect anything extra there. You are paying for the location only.Toilet paper-you have to ask for it. On the last day we were waiting for our taxi and we ordered a toast. 10-15 min and it was no toast,we left. No bye,no apologies. Nobody cares. Check in at the bar area(weird corner). We were waiting to check in when they finish serving food and drinks. Asked for quiet room, got room 222 facing the street. I guess nobody reads your requests.
inside is clean. Beds and linen were comfortable. very quiet. when you walk to it you pass all the downtown activity in the evening
the outside looks a little shady. it's a little bit of a walk from the skydome but okay on a nice day
The staff were friendly, courteous and helpful.
