Two double beds, decadence: with authentic furnishings, very luxurious. Good lounge area to make tea and enjoy the view.
No tea making facilities in bedroom & bathroom across entrance hallway. Can see into beds at windows from balcony. Felt a bit cheeky having to ask if we could get a cup of tea and we're not sure if we were supposed to help ourselves to a biscuit or not?
WiFi? , breakfast, spaciousness
Too many rules and regulations . awful bedĺinen. No coffee maker. Long way from waterfront and restaurants.
Loved the room and the house. Karen is awesome. Breakfast was fantastic.
No access to staff except for morning breakfast.
Location and services near by. Pretty
Position. Easy parking at door. Owners easy to communicate with by email Nice breakfast
No milk in next-door common tea/coffee area. WiFi patchy in our apartment downstairs
The breakfasts were wonderful, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable, and felt like home. The view from the breakfast room was lovely.
The Wi-fi had poor signal, and only worked in certain spots in the room, which were not at the room's desk. This may have been due to being in the downstairs, which may have been further from the router. We were still able to connect enough to get the info we needed.
Room was clean. Loved our own bathroom. Loved view of harbour from balcony off kitchen. Enjoyed other travellers. Plenty of breakfast to eat.
Very old house. Basement bedroom was slapped together around ceiling and walls. Paint job was very poor. A lot of stairs to claim to kitchen eating area for elderly people.
The house had very beautiful furniture .But we did like the City very , very much.
The dirty toilet, the worn out towels and the bathroom floors were not very clean. No greetings from the B.B. We stayed 3 nights and it was very on personal. The breakfast menu was to many sweets and eggs only on a Monday. On top you had to go to many floors up to get for breakfast. This was very difficult because my husband walks with a cane. So we skipped the whole 3 days breakfast. But we had to pay for it anyway.
Victorian style and the location.
Room should have had air conditioning. Private bathroom would have been nice as well as a larger bed Sundays breakfast menu wasn't worth getting up for
Beautiful heritage building, large room, quality linen and towels.
Since this is an older residence you may hear the other guests coming and going.
friendly staff on phone (returned phone calls) very clean had telephone in room central to St. John's big room quiet good close parking good breakfast
no one there during evening
- relaxed atmosphere - friendly staff - spacious accommodation
It's a great location and the staff are very friendly. Karen in particular made great breakfasts and I enjoyed chatting with the other guests in the morning. I also liked the old quaint feel of the place and it's right downtown.
I would recommend two things to travelers: 1) ear plugs are a good idea if you like to sleep in a bit (it's an old house so you hear all of the morning bustle). 2) the policy is 72 hours for a cancellation, so think through your plans in advance. If it's not peak season, it's easier to extend a stay than cancel a night.
Location in ST John's near the main street and near stanley hill. Free WIFI. Nice looking from the outside.
We never saw the staff (maybe a maid shortly in the breakfast room?), what is the point in staying in an Inn if you never see or talk to anyone, then you can go to a hotel directly...Nice looking from the outside, but the inside was a bit old and not very clean. You don't feel welcome at all when you come in, you only have written orders everywhere. When you come in you have to remove your shoes immediately (camera is watching), but no slippers provided, so you can walk to your room on a floor that looked less clean than the shoes....We stayed in a lot of Inns in Quebec and new Brunswick, there we had much cheaper and nicer stays. Bathroom looked clean except toilet seat (wood) was already lightly splintered. Room was very small due to 3beds (we were 2 and paid for a suite, what is the point in having an extra bed?) hardly enough space to put the luggage. Bath towels had been cleaned (smelled cleaned) but obviously not enough since there were orange and yellow staines remaining...The inside of the queen bed was covered with hair and what looked like skin particles (like a dog had been passing over), we removed the most but since it was already late when we noticed we didn't go elsewhere. Don't let me start about the look of the outside of the third bed (pillow :-(...) In the morning we checked another room that was empty to see if they're all like this, it looked nice and clean and had more space.....Breakfast was like in a hostel, you sat at tables that were not clean when you arrived, food was OK...In conclusion, if you are lucky maybe you get the other room, for us never again.
You need to do a face lift-up to the entrance. Although facility is old but well maintained.
Very roomy and central
The smokers waiting outside for the bus were not an initial good impression. Good job I got someone on the phone to tell me the code. Wasn't expecting that.
That they called as soon as I booked to welcome me and give me details. The antique furniture was amazing and the old St. John's townhouse was so unique and well kept up.
Beautiful old house in downtown St John's, perfect for a weekend away. Walking distance to everything that you need in downtown and free parking.
Because it's an old house it's not as sound proof as a hotel would be. Consequently you can hear people walking around on the floor above you and in the hallways.
I loved the look of the building. The room was cozy and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. Breakfast was awesome. Meeting Karen was like I knew her my whole life. Welcoming and friendly. I will book there again, for sure.
they let me use their phone to book my next accommodation for my arrival in Halifax...
Question 3 answer: none of the above... there was no instruction welcome, no communication -it was just weird... did not feel welcome...
Location in downtown St.John's perfect. Walked everywhere. Old Victorian decor charming, comfortable without the clutter. Yummy fresh cooked breakfast. Relaxing and secure for a single lady traveller.
Nothing. Would come again in a heartbeat!
