The calm, opulent, welcoming foyer set the scene for what was to be a very enjoyable one night stay at the Union Club. Don't bother to look for a better restaurant; just dine in the club. The food, presentation, and the attentive staff were excellent. The rooms are well appointed but do have some likeable 'old world' charm about them. Anyone looking for accommodation in Victoria; this is the place to stay... I shall return!
Location Attentive Staff Great Breakfast Spotless room Old world charm Private Club
Was upgraded to a suite at check-in, complete with a harbor view! Breakfast was "pick-of-menu"! Sure beats those "free" breakfast at chain motels.
No porter or help with luggage. Note-there is an entrance "down the hill" from the main entrance that is only about 1/2 a flight of stairs up.
We liked everything about the Inn at the Union Club from the moment we went in the front door. We felt that we had gone back 100 years in time without losing any of the 21st century comforts. Our room was ready when we got there so we were able to start sightseeing in Victoria immediately. We didn't have dinner at the club because we had already made a reservation at a local restaurant but breakfast next morning in the large lounge was ample and excellent. Everyone was friendly and helpful. If you are in Victoria and looking for overnight accommodation give the Union Club a call. You won't be disappointed.
Wonderful atmosphere. Right downtown and close to everything. We had dinner in the restaurant both nights and it was delicious. the staff were warm and friendly.Breakfast was good.
The room was very small nest time I will book a king-size room..
Room was so small we had to put a suitcase in the closet. No bellman. Had to bring suitcases up two flights of stairs. Restrictions on dress not in info about facility. We would not recommend this facility. Limited accommodation for handicapped people.
Can`t think of anything
The hotel is not the newest but still in a very good condition! It has a great atmosphere since built about 100yrs ago… The staff is extremely friendly and helpful!! The location is superior!!
No Air Condition
The convenience to the harbour and all of Victoria. The hotel had a lovely old-world ambience, nostalgic of the days of the 'gentlemen's clubs' with the huge lounge and reading room. The breakfast choices were excellent. We were very impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. We would stay here again,
Room 204, too small to fit in two bedside tables and our cases. Never this room again please.
Location, Old world charm lovely breakfast
getting large pieces of luggage in and out of the building was a bit of a mission
Breakfast was quite good and the location close to the inner harbor is pleasant.
The room was fairly old and had an unpleasant smell (kept the windows open day and night during my stay). The emphasis on being in a club does not make for a welcoming atmosphere. I guess one has to make a more conscious choice than I did to be in a club-like environment to truly enjoy the culture of British heritage.
Didn't have tea making in the room
Located across the street from the Empress Hotel and conveniently close to all the major sites in Victoria The Inn at the Union Club of BC was a great place to stay. Breakfast was excellent and staff was willing and helpful. Has that old English hotel look and though very clean could use some updating.
We loved the old charm of the building, complete with a wood and glass window elevator. The rooms were quaint but comfortable.
Can't complain, really.
The location was PERFECT! I was traveling alone with my 10 year old son. I felt like it was very secure with a locked front entrance and incredibly friendly and helpful front staff. The free breakfast was anything off their resturant menu. The menu was varied, amazing and delicious - NOT a buffet. fresh local greens, salmon and more. It was a bit stuffy as it is a private social club with members there. There is a dress code. I grew up with this so it made me feel comfortable it may be a turn off to others. It is probably, speaking in general terms, an "adult" place to stay. That said it was the perfect place for me and my son. couldn't have been happier and will be back next month.
A nice view.
The staff is Simply not engaged.
The bed was comfortable and the food excellent. Unique and historic features throughout the hotel, great elevator!
Bathroom while dated and that was okay needed TLC and maintenance.
Staff at the reception were lovely.
This was a second rate hotel at a first rate price.
All the staff we met were incredibly helpful. Michael was our server at breakfast and really made our stay memorable. It was mum's 60th birthday and the candle in her omelette really made us laugh. We'd definitely come back.
The style and aura of the Club and the way the staff made us welcome at a Members' much loved building. Breakfast was delicious with good staff.
We had a problem accessing the wi-fi but this was mildly irritating and not a major issue.
Complimentary use of washing machine was a godsend. Club is beautiful historic and relaxing. Would definitely stay there again.
Service and friendliness. Attention to detail. Facilities and club feeling.
Staying at the Inn is like traveling back to the time of the British Empire. A unique experience.
Like an old fashioned club.
