The long, steep staircase to the second floor and the placement of the two doors to the staircase/dining room and foyer. Otherwise the home was lovely and Cathy has done an amazing job of renovating the home. A lovely, lovely place to visit!!! Btw Art Work is displayed throughout the House for sale but we much preferred the period pieces which were not for sale.
The detail in the period furnishings, the quality of the pieces and their display were impeccable. The retaining of the stencilling in our room from the 1890's was breathtaking! (The Doiron room). The (7) modern washrooms were great additions to the building. The history of the house was interesting as was the procurement of the original pieces and account of restorations. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful although I must say that my husband has simpler tastes and would have preferred 3 eggs over easy, bacon or sausages & home fries but he is Scottish! Our friend & I thoroughly enjoyed the ham cheese & egg omelette; barn bread & muffins; warm fruit compote with crisps of slivered almonds and fresh cream & blueberries; fresh squeezed orange juice; fresh pressed coffee and tea.
