Our weekend stay in July was superb from start to finish, and the hospitality provided by new owners Sam and Joss was, in a word, exceptional.
We stayed in Knotty Pine, a private and luxurious cabin perfectly sized for a romantic get-away. Upon our arrival, Sam gave us a tour, beginning with the private ocean-view patio out front of our cabin, where breakfast is served daily. The patio, with a hightop glass table and two chairs, overlooks the Bay and is nestled between two large cedars that offer a perfect level of privacy, complete with hummingbirds sipping on fuchsia nectar. Several stone steps below the private patio is a larger ocean-view balcony complete with an outdoor kitchen stand, a new BBQ, as well as a fire pit surrounded by lacquered wooden benches; attached is another patio with a glass dining set, we barbecued and dined here every single evening!! Further down a pathway lined by moon-lamps is the float dock. Two chairs, a sun umbrella and spectacular views make the dock a perfect place to enjoy an afternoon read or a glass of wine at sunset.
Breakfasts are made each morning and served on your own outdoor patio, or the cute dining set in the cabin, at your preference. Joss should probably be on one of those "celebrity chef" shows - she's incredible!! Her blueberry french toast souffle was off the charts, and don't get me started on the poached eggs over fresh steamed crab!! All served in the comfort of your own abode with fresh juice, coffee, and fruit.
We canoed around the small islands just offshore (be sure to check out the one with the house built by David Suzuki) and down the shore towards Sechelt. The water was beautifully calm, we hopped out of our canoe to collect oyster shells in the crystal-clear knee-deep water. Swimming was unforgettable, as were the jellyfish (they don't sting) and phosphorescent undersea lights visible off the dock at nighttime! Brand new paddle boards and canoes are on the dock for use anytime.
