breakfast was excellent and the host was very friendly and informative.
I loved every fancy ornaments, and customized breakfast.
I paid extra money for "Garden view", but there was just little back yard..
The location was very quiet. We felt very welcome. The breakfast was first rate. Would stay here again.
There was nothing to dislike
Bed was very comfortable. The suite was decorated in an Edwardian/Victorian manner and although in my own home I like clean uncluttered spaces this was a nice change for three days. Breakfast over the road in the authentic Edwardian dining room was splendid, with good healthy food. Cook Village nearby for shops and eateries and harbour and all other tourist attractions within easy walking distance. Art Gallery and Craigdarroch Castle close by.
Maybe just one too many ornaments for my liking but otherwise couldn't complain at all and would recommend.
All house is in style. XIX century original structure, beautiful wood paneling, the spirit of the crown is preserved well :) clean, excellent staff. Great breakfast presented in a stylish manner. Will recommend to friends
Even thou the room was very old style, the place was very very clean, owner was very friendly and helpful and breakfast was outstanding. Would definitely recommend the place.
B&B was close to downtown hotels, so we were able to meet up with our friends easily for dinner. It was nice to be in a quiet residential neighbourhood and the street parking was easy. The kitchen would have been very handy but our stay was too short to take advantage of it.
Sherrin had left the key out for us on our arrival, but it was to the wrong room and someone else's things were in there. We had to wait about 30 mins for her to come back and get us the right key.
Classic style house, lovely English decor, great neigborhood, tasty breakfast.
No coffee or tea offered in house, breakfast was served across the street. No door on bathroom, this was very uncomfortable for me, there was a curtain, but that didn't give enough privacy. No shampoo, lotion or extra TP, only one small bar of soap between sink and shower Missing the little details that make for a memorable stay
I booked 3 different rooms for my family that came to Victoria for my wedding. Everybody was very pressed with the Trutch and said they would go back their next visit. They all raved about the breakfast!
The breakfast was fabulous. If you are an antique buff, this B&B will blow you away. Clean, quiet, charming. 15minute walk to Inner Harbor.
On Booking.com it was advertised as one bedroom w/ queen bed, which was correct and sofa bed, which was not correct. A twin air-bed was the second bed and there was an extra charge for it. Read the fine print!
The room was very comfortable. The staff were respectful and friendly. The location is close to downtown.
The breakfast was OK... Not as good as when I stayed there in 2006.
The bed was clean and very comfortable. Overall the space was clean. The location is quiet and in a pleasant neighbourhood away from downtown, but with easy access to the downtown area - 25 minutes on foot or a daytime bus stops at the nearest corner. A short walk gets you to a great coffee shop - Bubby Rosas where you can mix with the locals. Breakfast offered choices and was of good quality. Breakfast tea and coffee were served with silver service and in China cups. The room was spacious with enough room for personal effects and clothing.
The staff was overwhelmed by the busy season and our room wasn't ready an hour after check-in time. There is no phone in the room. There is a constant unpleasant odor in the front entryway from very old wood panelling, however sleeping areas are well ventilated with windows that open - no screens. (A local cat came in to visit us.) The closet in the bedroom was also heavy with the same odor as the hall so we didn't feel to use it for our clothes. No toiletries are provided except for two used pieces of hand soap stuck together in the wet bathroom soap dish. The breakfast room is across the street where the "over-stuffed" decorating overwhelms the potential charm of this vintage house. A large uncovered bowl of granola is a permanent fixture on the breakfast table. The suite bathroom is basic with small utilitarian fixtures. The bedroom carpet needs to be steam-cleaned or replaced, though uncarpeted areas were clean. The quoted rate is pre-tax.
The room was spacious with a lovely view and surroundings. Quaint and inviting. Breakfasts were amazing. Owner was open, easy going and friendly.
No phone, writing pad or tissues in room and the owner/operator was not easily accessible.
Did not keep the price as promise from booking.com, no one at the place recived gust , room is not ready and not clean . The breakfast was very nice , but I won't go back there again .
Staff, location, breakfast, all very good. Owner was very pleasant.
Carpet and blinds were dirty. There was a blood stain on the blanket.
Kitchenette was nice to have, friendly owner, well appointed rooms, historical charm.
No black out curtains
Morning breakfast was exceptional.
Website pictures and descriptions do not match the rooms - the website indicated that we would have a 2-roomed suite with 2 beds for the price we paid, but we had a 1-bedroom with a kitchen and bathroom. It worked out okay for my daughter and me, but if we had really needed 2 beds it would have been a big problem. The manager did not offer a reduction in price for the mistake; she just stated that that the website has been incorrect for a long time.
The entire experience start to finish was ☆☆☆☆☆. The owner was gracious and went the extra mile. The rooms are beautifully decorated with period antiques. The property is beautiful. I have already recommended it to friends and colleagues
I had booked for one night, secured by my credit card. I arrived at the hotel at 7.40 pm with no one available. After a phone call, the owner eventually appeared. She advised me that she had letl my room to someone else. Motive? I can only assume that she did not expect me to turn up but she would still take payment and would then re-let the room for 2 lots of income. What dreadful behaviour!
Location - just 15' walk from the downtown/waterfront areas and close to neighbourhood pub, shops and restaurants.
Hostess seemed disorganized and forgot our breakfast the second day
Breakfast was great. Beautiful place. Nice area close to downtown.
The couch was uncomfortable. Wifi did not work ,very slow did not load. Shower was hand held with no curtain.
The location was excellent. Close to downtown and other areas of interest.
The inside of the suite was very dated (very old TV,no air conditioning), the carpetting wasn't very clean and the suite wasn't ready for us when we arrived at 4 pm.
The proprietor was a lovely lady that went out of her way to make the visit most enjoyable. She upgraded the room as no one was in her premier suite and served whatever was requested for breakfast.
