The location can´t be better. Free breakfast with fruit, enough washrooms and showers, great common room, lockers in the room, you have your own lamp and sockets.
The equipment ist not the newest but OK. The door lock of my room did not work properly - it was quite difficult to unlock the door.
I stayed there 8 years ago and had a great experience, and this is why i chose to go there again. Loved it there and would go there again. Toilets are clean, just the shower and rooms could be a bit cleaner. Breakfast was good.
Shower and rooms could be a bit cleaner.
This hostel is in general clean. It has got good location, kitchen and good staff. But best of all is the filling and good breakfast provided by the hostel.
Rock music in the lounge too loud even in the early morning. We had to raise our voice to talk to the staff at the reception at any time of the day....Don't guests prefer to have a comfortable and quiet place for a good rest to a noisy bar like hotel?Lucky that the noise didn't reach the upper section of hostel where the rooms are situated!
You can meet many guys, and the samesun pub is very nice!!!!
The hostel is a great place to meet new people from all over the world. Located in the center of Downtown Vancouver, close to Skytrain and others. It provided nice breakfast for your staying, fresh fruits and bread which was awesome. It was a good hostel to stay in Vancouver with lots of surroundings to see near by.
Wifi in the room wasn't that stable and the bunk beds made huge noises when you got on. I have been waken up many times when late people came in. No free shampoo and body wash in the bathroom. Bedding cleanness is average.
Great staff Daily Activities Good size kitchen incl. Free food space Lots of common space
Breakfast was great for hostel, if anything perhaps some eggs or bacon could be included :-)
Love the atmosphere around the place. One of the most sociable hostels ive been to. Great breakfast spread also!!
Friendly staff, very clean washrooms, great bar.
Small rooms without air condition... You should open the window to breath and avoid to be in a sweat. And then comes the nightmare: impossible to sleep because of the shouting crowd on the street. All night...
location in the middle of Downton, friendly staff, breakfast included, private room with own bathroom
Great location, great value for your money. If you want to stay in Vancouver without spending too much money this is your best bet.
I'm a senior citizen, and at the advise of my daughter was encouraged to fraternize with a younger crowd. She was right, I really enjoyed their company, their enthusiasm, and their optimism about their futures! As for the hostel, it's located in a very busy part of town. It was noisy with a very mixed crowd with people down on their luck and people more well to do. The hostel itself was loaded with people from all over the globe, so great place to share experiences and perhaps get good advise about travelling in Canada. The breakfast was well above average, with fresh juices, bagels, delicious muffins freshly sliced fruit and toast.
I slept in a room with 3 other travellers from Germany and Japan. All of them, nice people, but the bunk beds were noisy and the smallest movement in the night would disturb ones sleep. As well, in our room you could hear street noise in the early morning hours! So if you are a sound sleeper, no problem, if not, at least try and get a room more centrally located. Personally, travelling in Asia, I've experienced a lot worse, so not a serious issue for me.Mostly it's thumbs up!!
noisy, can not sleep at all, we moved to another hotel after the sleepless night .
staff are friendly They have great days out planned
showers wifi is always hard to connect to in certain parts
The location is right in the downtown, close to skytrain station, beds and bathrooms are clean.
The wifi signal in the rooms can be improved; It would be great if eggs could be included in the breakfast.
The staff were amazing, all extremely helpful, friendly and knowledgable. The free day tours to areas of interest were excellent. I met the most amazing people and had some crazy nights out; the location is perfect for partying with lots of bars and clubs at your doorstep. Highly recommend!
The breakfast was pretty average and I preferred to go to a nearby cafe most mornings. The rooms can get very hot and stuffy despite the relatively cool temperatures and would benefit from more fans.
Location Cleanliness Bar
Hot rooms, however each bed had their own fan
location. well equiped kitchen(they even have lots of spices)
no elebator. bringing 20kg bag to third floor was killing me. building is pretty old.
Perfect location, very good breakfast, nice rooms and the staff was very helpfull. The bar below was one of our favourite hangouts, the atmosphere was great and the prices were hard to beat!
The costs of staying here are very high, but I guess that is something that counts for all of Vancouver (and even Canada). Another thing was that the bathrooms weren't super clean, but I guess thats what you get when you're staying in a really big (youth) hostel.
the breakfast is really nice, a large common room
wifi died for 1 hour during day time
Ideal location. Very friendly staff, they help you with everything. They organize daily activities. Good breakfast.
The diner specials are disappointing, but then again they only cost $4,99....
Im traveling all around america and my friends suggested I go to Vancouver...I found this hostel online and it was great....right in the heart of the city...can walk to most places...ger the sky train...buses ..sea bus...staff are wonderful...its safe...clean...great atmosphere...bar....cheap food....activities each day...well run business and I would 100% come again :-D
Possibly invest in new hair dryers...terrible power in them :)
location, great, friendly, prepared and accessible staff, very well equipped kitchen
noisy, good luck trying to get some sleep at night
Than stay at this one. The breakfast and some members of the crew are great but the rooms are realy hot at the summer, no AC. Thr staff clean the washrooms twice a day but in a place with people who do not care about cleaness, every hardwork will not be enough. Chinese people do not care about it and some europeans too.
The room is hot, very, very hot. Unconfortable to sleep and no AC.
