The Marco Polo Inn took our breath away from the moment we checked in. The rooms, the décor, the attention to detail, the four course breakfasts, the grounds, the staff and the service were outstanding. The Marco Polo Inn is now our #1 travel destination for the years to come.
The house takes you back to an other century
It is not what it looks like in the photos. The photos make it look like a warm and inviting place, when in reality you feel like you must stay in your room. The living room is not warm or used by any of the guests. The library only accommodates one couple at a time. The radiant heat is either too hot or off. It is a long way from down town and there are no restaurants or shops within walking distance. Our room had a tub for two that was very nice. We thought there was also a fireplace but were told that picture was of a different room that didn't have the tub. They just combine them to show all the things that the property offers. Very misleading. Breakfast was not very good. They do accommodate all kinds of weird dietary disorders, but as a result the food is just plain bland and tasteless. I would not go back and would not recommend it to others.
The room was wonderful, the atmosphere, great, and the location was close to downtown. The staff was just spectacular and very accommodating.
This was our second time at the Marco Polo. We were as delighted as the first time!!!
location comfort personal attention beautiful rooms
The hostess was fantastic and very welcoming. The grounds and house were beautiful. Overall it was a very romantic and quiet get away.
For how wonderful everything else was the bed was surprisingly springy feeling and not very comfortable.
No useage of TV. Had been broken for 7 days with no feeling it was being repaired. Would have preferred if they said no TV.
Breakfast was outstanding, nice garden
A beautiful building and attention to detail by the staff who were very friendly. The Villa is great for couples. A real little gem. The radio which could be piped into every room was also a good idea.
The 3rd floor penthouse Suite was without any table to sit together to eat and second bed was in the open plan part of living room.
I enjoyed my full week at Victoria when staying at Marco Polo Inn. Cultured-filled neighbourhood (Government House and Craigdarroch Castle in walking distance), gourmet breakfast (well thought and different for each day) and friendly staff made this trip to Victoria a memorable one. Located close to downtown and Oak Bay area, I could balance my activities with rest-break at the Inn to truly enjoy my vacation.
The Wi-fi signal was not strong in my room. I had more success to use the internet in the evening hours though. As a result, I finally settle down to read some books I like.
The whole enchilada was what we liked about this classy BnB. Meeting folks over a gourmet breakfast starts the day on a positive note. My friend was thrilled to have had special gluten-free muffins made for her. Located in a residential area made for walking.
We loved everything about the Villa Marco Polo, from our beautifully appointed suite, to the lush grounds, to the wonderful staff and 4-course breakfasts! The dining recommendations were perfect and Dianna was extremely helpful in all ways! Truly a first class experience all around! We WILL be back some day!! 5 Stars!!
Beautiful property and perfect hosts that strive to make you feel welcome. Breakfast is a gourmet experience you will not forget. Each room is exquisitely decorated and the attention to detail is unbelievable. Cannot fault this B&B. location is good in a quiet rural avenue with easy off road parking. A short drive to the centre of Victoria or a pleasant 30 min walk. We tended to walk in and get cab back in the evening CAD10.
Location Breakfast was to wake up for... Quiet... Comfortable...
I am tech junkie so I was disappointed in the internet capabilities for such a excellent place.... I guess I just need to disconnect.... :(
Friendly and obliging staff. Excellent breakfasts and fabulous chef who created dishes we had never had before. Beautiful villa and gardens. Next door's cat Thomas. Located in a beautiful tree lined area which is a 20 minute walk from downtown and the harbour.
The food and decor and the staff.
The building and room were beautiful. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. They put together a wonderful 4 course breakfast each day. It was located about a mile from the main tourist district of Victoria and very close to several local attractions. Wonderfully quiet.
The duvet on the bed was too heavy for this time of year.
The garden was lovely, the hostess was very knowledgeable and helpful, even phoned around to make dinner reservations for us. Breakfast was amazing, five small courses beautifully presented.
Personal feel, and property was beautiful. Location was good. Very quiet.
Rooms could use a small fridge.
They provide very creative and different course of breakfast with beautiful presentation everyday during our stay for 5 days. Very quiet and nice environment.
The only TV in the house, which is in the library, was old and out of order during the World Cup Soccer!
Loved everything about the Villa Marco Polo. So beautiful. Lovely, helpful staff. Seemed magical. 4 minutes walk to bus.
Awesome breakfast with coffee before hand. Italian designing of house with Italian gardens in back. Diana helped us to know what the fun things to do in Victoria were.
Diana was a fantastic host. She warmly greeted us with tea when we arrived and acquainted us with the area. We were also pleasantly surprised by the turn down service in the evening. The room was gorgeous. All of the carpets, furnishing and linens were selected with great care. Breakfast was delicious. They accommodated our vegetarian diet, but we should have specified that we don't like eggs.
Beautiful rooms, loved our stay there.
