The peace and quiet, mostly friendly people at reception and cleaning staff. They both helped a lot.
This is a University dorm used a guest house during summer. As such, it is a great facility at a decent price. This attracts some guests that were not always pleasant, asking you for stuff, not cleaning after themselves, at times being annoying.
Readiness of people in the area to help, for example, a person you meet for the first time in Nanaimo would volunteer to show you around and give you direction too. Very friendly people!
Being right on campus, giving our daughter a feel for life in residence. Having rooms so close together.
The booking was a little scrambled, though it was cleared up quickly. Would have liked a way to make a cup of tea in the room.
The suite was clean and comfortable; overall excellent value for money. The neighbourhood is very quiet but with convenient access to the highway and downtown Nanaimo. There was plenty of free parking.
Kitchen had appliances but nothing else. It was very hot in the suite, even with all the windows open.
Would like to be able to borrow basic kitchen equipment eg plates, mugs etc.
close to VIU campus comfortable beds hot showers (shared) friendly staff
no air conditioning or fans in room. Outside was pleasant but inside was like a sauna. Any other months besides summer would be nice.
Waking distance to lots of sports venues such as the university gyms, the track, the aquatic center, and NDSS gyms. Lots of other activities for me to do right there, too, like beach volleyball and tennis. Also easy to find for me and for my visitors.
No air conditioning and no fans provided so the rooms were way too hot most of the day, and for parts of the night. They cooled off overnight if I kept the windows open, but then I was woken up very early every morning by people outside because there are a lot of small rooms in a small area.
Its close to down town easy access to foods store . All utilities are in easy access.
EXPENSIVE, SMALL ROOMS
Location was close to where I needed to be
Horrible first impression; check-in was unprofessional, staff just rude and so unfriendly. Poor wi-fi connection. All the things you are not looking for. Bad value for money! Booking.com should not offer this option to its clients.
The price was good. Free wifi & free parking. The tame bunnies everywhere. 24 hour office hours for check in and out.
The room had no fan or cooling system of any kind. No access to kitchen, not even a microwave. Mattress was so hard I felt like I was sleeping on the floor
The low price, proximity to the best parts of Nanaimo, clean facility, exceptionally quiet and above all, the staff were kind and helpful beyond words!
Single beds are kinda new to me but didn't seem to affect my sleep at all.
Cleanliness Price Quiet environment
location: as we were real estate shopping north to Qualicum Beach and south to Duncan. staff: everyone from perm staff to student temps were patient and helpful...Carol Creighton deserves special mention for her excellent effort with us. facilities; laundry, shared kitchen, parking, lounge all "worked" for us
WiFi: some initial hookup problems but they were dealt with. TV in kitchen area needs to be "turn on" simplified
The bed was very comfortable. The furnishings great. Such a quite spot for us, in the summer anyway.
The kitchen and tv rm. was down stairs and awkward for me to carry things to cook etc. up and down stairs and thru so many doors. No sink in the bathroom.
Bicycle accompanied me into the room, which provided secure reassuring storage for it. Outstanding cleanliness, quiet, quiet, quiet! Refrig, freezer and full kitchen are available. Nice location. Cheap!
Pretty hot during day without AC. Room did cool off in the evening and night.
Location Kitchen access/facility Great for singles
No air conditioning Not good for couples
Excellent value for money. Helpful staff, clean accommodation.
A little far from town.
Single beds but the room was connected by a washroom Good location
lack of air conditioning
The location was perfect for the event that we were there for!
Room could be bigger
I appreciated the close proximity to the bus to Woodgrove Mall. It was the closest to McGirr Sports Field, a BC Summer Games Venue, I needed to access. University Village was also accessible by bus which was important if you needed to buy groceries/food. The Staff were helpful with pertinent information. The beds were pretty comfortable but if you're fussy, bring your own pillow.
The rooms were definitely not sound-proof! I could easily hear most things my neighbours across the hall said & did. When they came & went. And even when they put their keys into the locks. I imagine they must also have heard anything I did too.
Kitchen and laundry facilities, cleanliness, convenient location for walking or taking the bus, and very affordable rates.
The TV didn't work.
Friendly, helpful staff. Very clean, modern and comfortable. Nice view of the city and ocean, and very convenient for public transit.
A bit noisy - the common hallways were like echo chambers so the sounds of doors opening, closing and being locked, footsteps, voices etc. were amplified. Also when the shower was turned on the the unit below us, the water going through the pipes was very loud.
Very reasonable price and good value for it.
