Located in Central Toronto and just steps from the local metro stops this hostel offers spacious shared and private rooms. The on-site bar, The Cavern, features live bands most nights of the week.
Score from 492 reviews Very good
The front desk and staff reception were nice
-Many facilities were out of order and looked like they hadn't been fixed in a while (The hot tub looked like it hadn't been touched in month, only one elevator worked and it was a little scary, outside doors didn't work) -Paint peeling and chips tracking into the room -There was a horrible draft in the room- like the heater wasnt fully set in the wall so half the room was very cold while the other half was boiling from having to blast the heater -I thought I was getting breakfast with my stay but was told it's $5 now.
Upgrade of rooms was nice. Pleasantly surprised with quality of bed and linens. Staff pleasant and helpful.
Bathroom had light fixture missing; no closet place, we had to drape coats over safe. One coat hanger only. Hallways tired and general lobby area needs refurbishing. Ice machine broken on most floors - had to go to five floors.
Really bad customer service!
Lack of service! Bad manners!
This was the dirtiest hotel I have every stayed in. Out of 3 Elevators only 1 was working and it as in terrible condition. The hotel itself was very cold.
Convenience to my week-long course. Good value for the dollar. Staff pleasant and helpful. Fridge and microwave were pleasant surprises. Greeting friendly chambermaid on the way out each morning was a nice start to each day.
Hot tub out of order. :~(
1) There was a noisy heating fan which its noise disturbed me while I was in the bed. 2) I can say that there was no internet, because the speed was so low which I even could not check my email.
Just checked out, and found have dropped a box, with my iphone charger and some other stuffs inside, came back, it's gone. Been told they never found it. Never leave anything behind!
I dont know if it is only me, but there was no hot water!!! And the heat was bad, the room was cold
location, good mattress, clean room
pool not available, public areas not well maintained
good value for money in a hotel setting to stay for a short time
no room service or in hotel room service and poor restaurant on site.
Staffs were friendly and very helpful and they resolved problems quickly
Bathrooms were in bad shape. one room bathroom shower tub was not clean and it was stuck and second room toilet was stuck and there were hairs on the floor. They Should have Cleaned more Carefully.
Closeness to mall and transport
No daily supplies like tissue papers etc. Sheets not properly done and changed. Staff not responding to my request for help with the heat
Our shower did not drain properly.
Spacious room. Good location.
Quite shabby all over. Unclean lobby, unclean elevators, worn out rooms.
I could not control the room temperature It was so cold for 2 nights I stayed. I put up the temperature to 30 degree but still the room was cold. In the washroom, my curling iron didnt turn on... Electricity level was too low. I had to curl my hair outside the washroom withtout a mirror. Lobby staff was rude. I waited for my check in and they were arguing about something among themselves... No one looked at me or acknowleged me with "just a moment". I stood there for 10 mins completely ignores by 4 staffs. Then one person talked to me and I checked in. No apology for anything... Very poor client service.
The hotel entrance was dirty and I also witness an argument between the receptionist and a guest. The room was ok no bugs or dust but the hall way has a funny smell. It was a great price considering that it was Christmas time. But I would definitely not stay there again.
The location and price were perfect for me.
Could not make long distance calls. The restaurant was only open for a few hours and even the staff did not know the hours of operation.
Power failure due to ice storm, totally disorganized in dealing with the situation. Did not have a flashlight to use in the dark room, to be able to get around.
Closeness to Fairview mall Toronto and accessibility to transportation.
Had to use this place because of power outage in Toronto but was very disappointed. Called front desk and was told they were coming but never came. The bed sheets were not changed etc.Did not like my stay there.
Location worked for us.
Basically everything had seen better days. This hotel in major need of maintenance and tlc. It looks to be way past its prime.
Very old Everything very old
Looks like the swimming poor water has been kept filtering, but not replaced often, so you can smell .....from human body.
Very old & worn. All aspects of this hotel are in a great need of updating. The staff are not well versed in customer service.
It was in a very convenient location.
Hotel had pretty nice staff (excluding the rude managers/owners)
I don't recommend this hotel full stop due to management/owners. Manager who owns the hotel and runs the night shift is rude and is shouting at everyone. He was shouting down the phone at someone telling them off (being unable to understand them as his English was poor) He hung up on them in front of me when the person on the phone was half way through conversation. He also when he came off the phone starting shouting at me for asking a very basic question he was unable to understand. Very UN-polite of him! Hotel facilities not good (not for kids this place) Can get better value for money elsewhere
