Breakfast, location, amazing friendly approach
From arrival to departure my stay at the West End Guest House was enjoyable and inspiring. I was in Vancouver for a conference, but liked the idea of a being in a quiet and friendly home atmosphere during the off time. Well that was certainly on offer. Tea, cookies, engaging conversations with both David and Paul, and a lovely breakfast in the ever so charming dinning area. My treat was a walk to the Vancouver Art Gallery, just a few blocks away down Robson Street, or head to Davie then down Denman for good food and shopping. All the best you guys, we will surely see each other again. I choose a small comfortable room at a very reasonable price. There are also larger well appointed rooms available.
Simply enjoyed ..
I stayed for 5 nights and had a different wonderful breakfast every day. Friendly, helpful staff made me feel most welcome. Will definitely be back.
Having to come home too soon.
The service, we felt like very privileged Guests.
There wasn't anything not to like.
The hosts are very friendly (my luggage had gone missing and they helped me sort it out with the airline) and combined with the warm atmosphere of the house just make one feel at home. Sensational breakfast. Bikes at disposal ideal for nearby Stanley park.
The welcome and hospitality were excellent. The modern bathroom and comfortable bed were perfect. Our hosts made the experience memorable with little touches, such as evening sherry by the fire, gourmet breakfasts, and home-made treats for a late night snack. The rich history of this century house is fascinating and displayed with grace and style.
The staff, food, and were amazing and the house was beautiful and comfortable.
Lots of attention to detail. Home made scones, biscuits and muffins available for guests to graze on. Sherry between 5pm and 7pm. Lovely breakfasts with a range of courses, eaten at a communal table. Staff unfailingly helpful. Our bedroom had just been decorated and uplifted by lighter colours. Lovely blues which was a relief from some of the dark Victorian themes.
Nothing much - found the Victorian theme a bit dark, but just personal preference. Was in keeping with the idea of a Victorian B & B
The location was great, very near to wonderful shops and restaurants and Vancouver itself. The breakfast at West End is excellent. Evan (the proprietor) went above & beyond the call of duty one of the evenings my husband & I were there, as we could not get into any of the restaurants on a Saturday night as they were so busy, so we went back to the guest house a bit hungry. We snacked on Evan's pastries & sweets, and when he found out we had had no dinner, he went into the kitchen and rustled up an excellent cheese on toast for us! Now that's what we would call service.
Our room was booked as a junior deluxe suite, but when we arrived we were shown to the very top of the guest house into a rather small and cramped attic room. I suspect a recently married couple who arrived 2 days after we did were given our room...I wouldn't have minded, but we were still charged the rate of a junior deluxe suite. I'm not sure, however, if all the rooms incur the same charge. However, Evan and his partner were so nice and kind I didn't want to make a fuss. Otherwise, everything was perfect.
nice joined breakfast of all guests in the morning.
bed was a bit soft
The house is a unique antique- one can see that the owner dedicated his life in renovating and decorating each room so one feels like he was invited to a little house for tea at the British Queen in the country
I didn't like the mattresses, they were too soft, too old falling in the middle. I also didn't like the breakfast which didn't have any healthy food like fresh vegetables and fruit.
Karen and Alexis were great hosts, very helpful, and the breakfasts they made were wonderful. Best bathroom and excellent shower
Our top floor room was very warm due to the heat wave that hit Vancouver. Probably nothing could be done to improve the room's temperature.
Location. Location. Location. Excellent breakfasts. Congenial & helpful Staff. A most welcoming house.
Excellent and very friendly service, making you feel at home. Great location.
We were made to feel very welcome very friendly atmosphere.
Was not there long enough
Clean, tidy, friendly, convinient, green.
Very close to town! Nice to meet other travellers at breakfast!
Very friendly owner and staff, great location, great ambience, attention to detail, excellent breakfast.
Nothing I did not like.
The breakfasts were great! Everything you would expect from a world class B&B.
What a great location and such a warm welcome! They even gave me a birthday candle on my morning muffin. And the breakfasts were out of this world. I would come back to the West end Guest House in a heartbeat.
Not a thing.
The style and decor of the house was superb. So many interesting things to look at. The breakfasts were delicious. Particularly as I had mentioned I didn't eat meat but did eat fish. Usually places will simply take off the meat but here I enjoyed a home made crab cake and smoked salmon bit he served with poached eggs. Plus wonderful warm home made bread and muffins. They even allowed us a really late check out which enabled us to enjoy our last day in Vancouver to the full. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay Evan & Ron.
Nothing to dislike as far as we're concerned except we didn't have mire time there!
I have stayed in over 100 B & B's around the world while travelling on business and pleasure. The West End Guest House was my BEST experience yet. The rooms are exquisitely decorated with beautiful antiques, while having the most up to date amenities (waterfall shower head, heated marble floor, memory foam mattress ...). And the whole house is sparkling clean. Evan is a wonderful host - welcoming, a fabulous chef and the right amount of charming cheek! Too many little touches to list them all ... the evening sherry and conversation, surprise appetizers at the Teahouse Restaurant, home made pastries in the room and pantry ... Even my 22 year old son liked it!
it's way more better than staying at a hotel，the brakfast there is fabulous，and the owner Evan is very nice and hospitable.
