Score from 121 reviews Wonderful
Wonderful owners. Fabulous environment to relax. Good location for access to businesses.
Volume of Calgary traffic.
The staff, room, bed and location of this hotel were excellent! Would definitely stay again!
We couldn't get the wifi to work, maybe wrong password, nothing major!
The price was ridiculous deflated. The room should have been two to three times more than I paid. And then the because it was available, the owner upgraded my room to a luxury King suite with private balconey and spa washroom. It was enormous - it must have been 600 square feet. This is a one of a kind mansion - the miles of woodwork throughout every square inch of the house is all hand crafted done by the owner, a master carpenter, who also painted every stunning canvas in the house. Having a graduate degree in visual art, I know his talent is genius-level, and his work is undiscovered. He not only designed, cut, sanded, stained, inlayed, hung, nailed, every wood element in this enormous palatial mansion, it has been crafted with a brilliant sense of design and space. Although the house is new and contains every modern, luxury convenience, it feels historical, and the spaces feel sacred, like a cathedral. His wife decorated each room with exquisite simplicity and taste, the fabrics are gorgeous, everything is of the highest quality. The mansion was built for his family, but he injured himself during it's finishing, so they opened up their private home to the public to enjoy its magnificence. This hotel will not remain at these ridiculously low prices for long. It's a masterpiece.
That I am unable to live there full time.
I will never stay anywhere else in Calgary again given a choice; this is truly a gem. We were late to check in due to bad weather and were greeted warmly with coffee and a tour of the house. The custom woodwork and luxurious finishings really create an ambiance that even $450/ night hotels can't match. Very convenient location to the downtown core made it perfect for my business trip. Highly recommend it to everyone.
Location, Facility, and Hosts.
Very friendly owners! Great food!
The owners make you feel like home. High end property with outstansing service. Very luxurious. Well located.
Many Pluses: -The owners very nice people, made you feel welcome & free to enjoy their Inn. -Above average quality room, beautiful woodwork, high end furnishing, fireplace etc. -Quite, did not have to worry about people making noise, having a party during the night. -Provided evening snacks and continental breakfast -View of river across the street, market & shops walking distance - Perfect for a weekend get away
No night life or amenities within the Inn if you are expecting this kind of thing
This is a great place to stay. It is close to great eating places and is a wonderful atmosphere.
Room was very tidy and well Setup. Furniture was very nice and bed very comfortable!
The staff is very friendly and helpful, very nice people.
Price, lack of communication on the fact it is not an hotel, i felt like trapped
A good option, if you like to have a nice light self serve breakfast included, and the option to use the kitchen. Very clean. Hosts are very pleasant and helpful.
I found this overpriced for what you get, but Calgary hotels are expensive. They charge a $20.00 cleaning fee. Towels are poor quality. Overall, not as luxurious as the pictures show.
Beautifully constructed and well designed, the building and comfort is something we took away with us as we sadly departed from only one night. We look forward to the day we return to Calgary so we are able to stay in one of the other rooms available, as all hold their own uniqueness. The owners/operators are extremely pleasant and welcoming, offering food and drink and a tour of the establishment prior to our departure.
Room size was big Luxury bathroom Clean property Quiet Free snacks, light breakfast available
Dated furniture in room Location not central to downtown core Location in residential area
Great facilities and good space.
Staff not too helpful in booking a longer stay.
Only stayed a night but would certainly stay again. Just to see the amazing craftsman ship of the house is worth it. Walking distance to downtown Calgary ease of access to the mountains.
Our power was out so having a warm place was excellent, jetted tub, fire place, comfortable bed
We were told we were getting a $500 room for $159; that's why we went there instead if a hotel closer to our home. This was on the main floor of the bed&breakfast, right inside the front door, our room was small (not the room that was shown on the website) and the lights in the foyer were left on all night which shone through the glass door into our room. Guests that we're my enough to be on the second floor were very heavy footed so it was not a good night. There were no glasses in the room so my husband had to get dresses and go ask for wine glasses
Hospitality of the owners is extraordinary (friendly, tactful, discrete). The house is tastefully appointed and finished with a great attention to details (wooden floors, comfortable furnitures, good lighting). Our self contained accommodation included room, walk-in closet and spacious bathroom with shower, bathtub and washer/dryer). It faced the main street but was very quiet. Common areas of this Guest House (hallway, kitchen, dinning room) are very well equipped and super clean. Parking is easy to find along the street. This place is very quiet, comfortable, friendly and great for either business travellers or tourists .
Nice looking place, very clean on the inside and comfortable. The woodwork it is very nice, and the host was nice. Close to Kensington and the Downtown.
Got the suite apartment, the one with the balcony. There were no chairs or table out there, and the flower vase was full of cigarette butts. Awkward.
The inn is a home that when built spared no expense on hardwood with inlay and elaborate casings built in cabinets and paneling. Gives you a warm sense of elegance.
Cob webs on the light fixtures, windows hadn't been cleaned in a long time, screens dirty. Bed linen is thin Canadian Linen sheets and the towels the scratchy Canadian Linen towels. Lots of traffic noise from Memorial Drive.
The Westmount River Inn was the cleanest place I have ever stayed in. I have a dust allergy, so I'm accustomed to some symptoms when I stay in a hotel, but this Inn was absolutely immaculate, so I breathed easy and slept deeply. It's also really beautiful, with gorgeous finishing details. And last, but certainly not least, the hosts are lovely, warm, and welcoming. I am looking for opportunities to stay here again, and I'm recommending it to anyone I know who comes to Calgary.
No hair dryer, trash from previous guest had not been emptied, poor quality pillows, small towels, cob webs on lampshade
Everything great, my son was all smiles, he loved it. 14 year old teenager says it all, I liked it too, great people, great place.
Just needs small table and decent chairs on balcony
Very familiar, no too big, the room was perfect with all the service also in my room I had a washer and dryer machine.
