NOTHING!!!! DON'T waste your money like we did!!!
Dirty, tacky – NOT reno’d since the 70's. Upgraded $$ room was horrible - old foul carpet, dirty tub, filthy windows. NO coffee maker, iron or phone, wifi didn't work, 70’s TV w/ 8 fizzy channels.
beautiful spot on the lake and very tranquil and quiet.
steep hill to the water, carpets were filthy and stained, front entrance was not appealing,T.V. was so outdated, water pressure in shower was non existent, shower turned freezing cold in middle of shower, floor in shower was dangerously slippery, nothing to hold onto to get out of shower. sat in the games room and there was so much dust on the lamps. I won't go back there again. We didn't eat there this time because they are stingy on the serving sizes and it is not home made. We had frozen cake from M&M's when they advertised strawberry shortcake.
Quietness, excellent and helpful staff, amount and quality of activities and sheer space to relax with your loved one.
Other visitors with disregard for other people (not cleaning up after their pets which are allowed) as well as not keeping their pets on a leash.
Great facilities, clean rooms
A little expensive for what they offered.
Excellent setting in woodland by the lake and friendly, helpful staff. Hummingbirds in the garden.
BUYER BEWARE: poor value for money. Moreover, the proprietor is inhospitable, argumentative and doesn't have the disposition to diffuse situations. If you're considering this property, I'd urge you to look a little bit further to the Haliburton area - our experience has always been pleasant in terms of hospitality and value within picturesque surroundings.
Friendly staff. Excellent chef. Beautiful view from dining room. Cozy and comfortable room. Will definitely return.
Staff was so courteous and polite, wanting to help out in anyway. Room was very comfortable, especially the bed, loved the antique décor. Dinner was absolutely amazing, sitting in front of the fire, very romantic. It was like a private dinner as there were only 2 couples in the dining room that evening. We would definitely return again.
The only problem we ran into was that we had no hot water for our shower in the morning.
The inn's setting was in a picturesque location.
1) American Express not accepted - I have always reserved and paid for my hotel accommodations with American Express. When we arrived we were told they did not accept American Express. First time I ever experienced this and my wife and I have traveled coast to coast in Canada. Fortunately, I had other credit cards. 2) Meals - Upon arrival, we learned that you had to reserve a place in the dining room 24 hours in advance. The sittings were only for one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening. The inn's website mentioned that the fee for breakfast was $15 per person. We did not go to meals at the inn but found acceptable restaurants nearby. 3) Rate: We paid $265 a night for each night we were at the inn plus a 10 percent hotel tax and the 13 percent HST. Our total bill came to $658.79. For that we got what only could be described as a small room on the west side of the inn which overlooked pine trees and a very small flower bed. There were vacant rooms on the east side of the inn which had a pleasant view of Lower Buckhorn Lake but we were not offered one of these. 4) Appearance of room - The room was not very clean. My wife, who worked as a chambermaid at a Rideau Canal resort when she was a teenager, noted there was dust under the television set, the carpets had several stains and looked dirty, linoleum on bathroom floor had gouges in it, a tiny bathroom vanity and nearby table provided wholly inadequate space for toiletries, hand soap appeared to be watered down, toilet paper was harsh, no iron or ironing board, inadequate space for suitcases compared to other hotels. Furniture appeared outdated and past its prime. There were scratches on the top of the bureau and marks on the walls. Paint peeling on bathroom door and several other areas. Only a mattress pad on the bed and not a mattress cover. Bottom-fitted sheet did not fit mattress properly and kept coming off bed. There were holes in bottom sheet at corner as well as blanket.
