Our bathroom was not clean, could not take a shower. Dirt and dead flies in the tub.
I like the holland madam
The owner was nice old lady own kitchen and even though it was from the 70's( yes I did check on appliances on line both stove and fridge) since I am on this field it was interesting to find such a old equipment in such good condition it was very well kept.
doors are hard to close, every time some one walk into the floor door was spring loaded so it wake you up from the slam shut TV are old , shaggy carpet no phone soap use to wash bed ware on the sofa bed(from the 70's) gave me allergy. The hotel reminded me when I was back in Germany in the early 70's in an older country farm house
All of the above
Not the owners fault but guests that come in late are too loud till they settle down. Restaurant meals would be a great asset.
It has a quirky Austrian feel that reminded us of travelling through Europe. A lot of charm.
A little farther from bars/restaurants than we thought.
Spacious apartment with full kitchen including table. Big balcony and free parking. Walking distance to restaurants and shops in Wakefield. Owner was nice.
Decor was dated and fridge made quite a bit of noise.
A pleasant experience with courteous staff. Also very, very quiet--which is exactly what I wanted.
The German feel to the place was great and the landscape was beautiful. I really liked how the rooms were more like apartments then hotel rooms.
It was what we expected as it was advertised as an European styled B & B. We wanted and got a quiet, unplugged weekend.
Cleanliness needed to be better Carpet need to be changed
Great location Nice size rooms
The room was spacious and quiet and a nice view into nature.
The proprietess is grumpy and intractable. The room had spiders and dead ants in the blankets. The room is very musty smelling and old smelling.
The hotel was one of the cheapest one in the area and we didn't want to spend to much on the hotel since we were not going to spend too much time in the hotel. The lady taking care of this place was really nice and left bread and jam in our room for breakfast
We found bugs in the bathroom which made us worried about the rest of the room. There was plastic covers on both the mattress and the pillows which made it really uncomfortable to sleep. The "For sale" sign at the street made us a little worried about the state the hotel was going to be in. The picture on the internet is really not accurate and the place looks run down and not well taken care of.
I thought the place was very homey... margaret is a sweet and makes sure you have everything you need before she closes up for the night. I loved the cottage atomsphere of the apartment with the fireplace. The decor, although, older made a real nice cottage like experience. My spouse and i loved it and look forward to going back for another mini weekend getaway!!
- bread & jam to snack on in fridge - the room was spacious and had tiled flooring - it was pretty clean (and I look for little things)
- there was no mat for our wet shoes which then left puddles on the tiled floor and I got a wet sock a few times - at arrival, I learned that I mistakenly double booked - I apologized and told the lady that I would call Booking.com to cancel one, but can I please check in first? She told me that she would have to pay them for the room and I said "yes, but only the commission" and she was a little shocked that I knew that (I am a Front Office Manager). She checked us in and once in the room, I promptly called Booking.com and asked to cancel one booking. Then, about 5 minutes later, a knock on our door and it was the lady in charge saying that she called Booking.com and they are insisting on talking to me - even though I told her I already called, she insisted I go downstairs and talk to the man on the phone. I found this to be a little irritating, but nothing major and I recognize that she was just trying to help. Mind you, she would have seemed more helpful if she sounded pleasant, but she sounded more accusatory than anything. - door to check in office is hard to open - lady told me I just need to pinch the door - at check out time, I could not open that door for the life of me, so left the key to my room hanging off that door. Please fix the door! - I rated the location only as fair because it is on the far end of Wakefiled, but since Wakefield is not too big it doesn't matter too much. - To be clear, even after these comments, I thoroughly enjoyed our quick stay. We just needed a clean, comfortable place for one night and this was good.
Very authentic period hotel/inn
Very clean and comfortable. Close to x-country and downhill skiing. Spacious apartment with good kitchenette. Very helpful owner.
The fireplace gave a bit of a smoky smell to the room. No microwave.
Great little place just outside of Wakefield. Short walk into town for the movie festival.
The sights and Margret.
No sidewalks leading to town.
the hospitality the decoration the location the amability the comfort
Like a cozy little Euro style time warp. I stayed here for the full kitchen and real working fireplace. What a lovely little spot!
+ personal touch of owner who put bread, jam in fridge for the morning + very clean
Had booked more than one room for guests attending my 60th birthday. Had informed hotel I would adhere to their cancellation policy by cancelling within 24 hours of the booking which was for December 28th 2013. When I called on December 27th in the morning to cancel the two rooms that I didn't need I was answered on the phone by someone who could speak neither French nor English and evidently did not/not make the cancellation. One guest did stay there and not only did the owner have the audacity to complain to said guest that I had not called to cancel which I had..in both official languages she then proceeded to charge my credit card for the full amount of the other room!!!!! Not impressed. Do not send anyone to this hotel ever. In fact take them off your books it does not reflect well on your service.
It is a family-owned and family=built chalet style hotel. It is dated and doesn't have all the mod cons but it is quirky and charming and clean. You can also have a real fire in your room if you book a suite It was very inexpensive and the elderly woman who owns it is kind and helpful
Although a lot of the "retro" vibe is quite charming the shag carpets in the hallways should be replaced as they give off a faint musty smell. The décor is a bit "Grandma's House" so if you into a slicker look, don't book
I liked . . . the hominess the size of the apt. the decor - modest, but comfortable the kitchen facilities the fireplace the table and sofa Overall, just fine - I enjoyed the brief stay, and will come back if the opportunity arises.
The non-smoking policy, but I understand the rationale. It's just too cold to stand outside on the veranda to smoke in winter. The limited choice of mixes in the bar, but again I understand. There are not dozens of customers
