Hotel Alpina Luzern  

Since we had a Swiss Rail Pass we needed to be near the Lucerne train station. The Alpina was located less than one block away making it an ideal base for exploring the alps. We also appreciated having two sinks outside the w/C. We also enjoyed having a balcony. We appreciated having a hot breakfast (bacon and eggs.)

It was a little noisy at night.

Rooms are spacious and well maintained.

Attention to detail.

It is very convenient for trabellers,for very close from the Luzern railway station and concert hall.

That it is a family run hotel, extra personal and extra warm service. That all the rooms have a view of the mountain is great. That it is attractively priced vs nearby hotels.

Do note the slope leading up to the hotel. Can be a legful for elderly and the pregnant.

Excellent location as it is just next to the Central Train Station and within walking distance to the places of interest. It is clean and comfortable for the price I paid.

It will be good to have a kettle in the room so that we can have hot drinking water.

V ery goog location, very clean hotel, everything worked. Breakfast was excellent. Staff very pleasant.

Very clean and modern room. Breakfast good at sister hotel Monopol Hotel on same road (4 star). Staff friendly. Not the cheapest but it is very close to the train station. I would say it is a good 3 star hotel with modern rooms. Check out was at 11am but we managed to check out at 1pm.

Smell of cigarettes in corridor to rooms (but not in room). In the evenings check in is at Hotel Monopol since there is no one at reception. A card is given to open the front door of the hotel Alpina in fact - but this is not really an issue. Reception staff at Hotel Monopol are also very friendly.

The room is spacious and clean. The location is quiet and easy to find.

There is no connection in the hotel to gain access to the restaurant.

Size of the room and the bathroom was big and spacious, proximity to train station and city center is a big advantage

Kettle should be provided in the room. Size of locker was too small, even netbook was not fitting inside. Fan was not working.

The staff was sufficiently friendly.

The room I stayed in was small, dark, and loud.

Smell of adhesive from renovation work however, it did wear off

The manager of hotel monopol was very helpful and very professional. She fixed our problem very quickly.

We booked the hotel via Internet. Then after we tried to contact the hotel via email and ask about the directions from the station- there was no response. It took us 30 min to find the entrance and to find out that we need to go to the Monopol reception desk. Then after that we were given the room that cost twice less then the room that we had actually booked. The Internet discription and photo of Alpina hotel did not mach the reality.
