The cablecar. Although the hotel had my credit card as a guarantee, I was asked to pay my room on arrival, which I find unacceptable. The food was overrated and overpriced.

As always, on our way back home from italy, we stayed a night in the Montana hotel. As always, everything was impeccable. And the bar Louis is a special treat in his own.

We really didn't like that the room floor was always dirty, keep in mind that we stayed with a one year old child! Oh and when our child spilled juice on the bed and that happens with a one year old child the hotel charged us extra 500 chf for the matrass without asking us what happened and letting us know that they actually replaced the matrass and throughout that one away. As I know fruit juice can be easily cleaned at dry cleaners and there is no need to throw the matrass away!!!!! And dry cleaners cost less then to buy the new matrass!

We loved our time at the Montana. Perfect location to explore all of the Lucerne area. Boris was very helpful in directing us to activity and dinner options. This may be the most beautiful spot on the planet.

We stayed at the lake view room on the fifth floor and enjoyed the panorama view from the terrace in the room. It deserves the hotel fee. The Montana is located at higher places than the five star hotels. So you can see the Pilatus and Rigi from dawn to dusk. Of cause the Lucerne night view is under your nose. There is nothing better than this. The only problem we had was temperature. There is no air conditioner other than a fan. The hotel signboard attracts mosquitos. So they recommended not to open windows until late at night when the signboard lights went off. It made us insomnia. Please equip a screen door to open the windows. And please provide more information about a room because the room has two types of bath room, one with a shower only and another with a bathtub only.

Scenery was beautiful. Access to city center was easy via funicular. Restaurants recommended was not the really good ones in Luzern. Try to discover a good one by yourself or read the tripadvisor.

Excellent, attentive staff. Breath-taking views. Outstanding breakfast. We had a lake-view room, and it was fabulous. The hotel's design and service are first-rate. We would stay there again.

I loved the luxurious hotel which is very private and quiet. My family and I walked from the train station. The furnicular (lift) up the hill made access very easy, especially with suitcases, otherwise we would of had to of walked up many steep street to reach the entrance. The family room was big enough for a family of 2 adults and 2 children which still allowed privacy by a small wall which contained the entertainment unit. Plenty of cupboard space. The bathroom is very modern & large and the kids enjoyed having a bubble bath in the enormous bath. It has an amazing view of Lake Lucerne and is situated in a great position, close walking distance. Very attentive service from all staff willing to help in any way. Staff in the restaurant were very friendly and efficient.

The Art Deco Montana is a great hotel. The balcony room offered an amazing view of the Alps from a vantage point not offered by staying in the city. We traveled by train and were picked up at the main station by their shuttle at a cost of 5 euro per person. The hotel has a funicular that brings you from the hilltop location to street level in just under a minute. It was very convenient for toting luggage down to the street uon check out. The room was new and well appointed. The price a bit steep - especially since it didn't include breakfast. Breakfast was available at 25 francs each! Yikes! Also, the hotel didn't have a fitness center, surprising for a luxury hotel.

Good food at the lounge. Beware of the photo gallery on the net. What you see is not what you get. We booked a superior room and got a small shabby room with a bathroom where 2people cant fit, a "king size" bed which is actualy 2 small beds put together so you always had a hole in the middle and sheets that were highly dubious. Front desk could never help despite our complaints.

I was there for business for a single stay. The view of the balcony is giving you the power to keep checking e-mails! The stuff was very friendly and the food excellent. The location is very good-walking distance to everything. Nice touch the cable car! The building is quite old and comparing with other hotels around the world quite expensive.

“Good location-across from the train station and the lake with its ferries and the bridges that take you into the old city. We had asked for a quiet room facing a side street which we did receive. The room was very large, sitting area with a pullout couch, large desk, big bathroom and clean. Comfortable beds. Breakfast buffet was fine. Room had no air conditioning but we had a portable fan which was adequate.” Louis, Oyster Bay |
