The Seehotel Hermitage is tranquilly situated within its own grounds on the shores of Lake Lucerne, only 2.5 miles from the center of the city with beautiful views of the landscape.

The Hotel Astoria is in the heart of Lucerne, only a 5-minute walk from the Culture and Convention Centre, the lakeside promenade, the famous Chapel Bridge and the train station.
Score from 522 reviews Very good
The 5-star Palace Luzern on the banks of Lake Lucerne has stylish rooms, up-to-date fitness and spa facilities, and a modern restaurant behind its historic façade.
Score from 164 reviews Wonderful
The family-owned 5-star Hotel Schweizerhof is located right in the Old Town of Lucerne, next to the lake. It features a spa area and elegant rooms with antique furniture.
Score from 219 reviews Wonderful
If you want a large room go for the non lake view rooms. Also quieter than lake view rooms at night. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Very good bar for single malt lovers and the pianist on the Friday night was brilliant.
Lake views rooms are tiny and the fixtures and furnishings are outdated. Bathroom is ridiculously small.
The room was fantastic with a beautiful view. The service was outstanding, we brought our little dog and they had some food, water and toys for him in the room.
the shower is opened to the room
The Art Deco style, the lake view, the size of the room and bathroom, the lavish breakfasts and high standard of cuisine in the evening meals, the hotel's own funicular, the friendly and professional service.
It's quite expensive and the wine is served in tiny measures but otherwise there is nothing to dislike about this superb hotel and we would warmly recommend it for an enjoyable stay in Lucerne.
Exceptional views of Lake Lucerne. Try for 5th floor facing the lake. Excellent Restraurant ! Both breakfast and dinner. Beach Bar and after dinner bar with jazz, the best. Location, location.
Everything else. No air conditioning. Poor facilities. Noisy rooms. Dated decor. Not a convenient location. Breakfast not worth the expense.
The staff were pleasant.
Truly unattractive inside and out. Only one elevator for entire hotel, which was of course, rarely available. The funicular to the Main Street was not scenic and had long wait times. The hotel is not well located (too far from town center). No AC, very hot, scratchy bed sheets.
Location cleanliness and stunning views
Staff very friendly and personable. Although the surroundings were opulent, there was a relaxed feeling to the bar area-no pretentiousness. The views from the balcony were gorgeous and the private funicular a bonus.
The location was great, access to the lido was a bonus and the breakfast was superb.
The location with the view over Lake Lucerne, with a private cable car to get to the lake promenade, raises this hotel above others. And it is quiet. The rooms are spacious and beautifully appointed. The lake view from our balcony was spectacular. The staff were extremely helpful to meet all of our needs.
We liked everything.
The concierge "Boris" was so helpful in setting up all our family activities and reservations. He was excellent at listening to our needs.
Very noisy hillside room. Deliveries throughout the night kept us awake. There was no a/c. When I went to front desk the next morning to complain, they were quick to upgrade us to the lake view room with a beautiful view.
Nice hotel, remind me about film "Grand Budapest Hotel". The same fairytale atmosphere. Very big room with 4 windows. Fantastic view from La Scala terrace. Great bar with big whiskey collection.
A lot of flies on breakfast in main restaurant. Impermissibly for such level hotel
Loved the décor, service, view, breakfast.
Food by the Italian chef. Pricey and not too good. Bread was terrible.
The view, the restaurant and cocktail bar, the decor, the friendly staff
Rooms at rear - not really a "hillside" view and some double rooms are quite small
Terrace, view, location
It could have been a perfect stay, but...I called reception 2 days before arrival about possible changing the duration of stay, the lady said no problem just tell us upon check-in. When we informed the receptionist that our trip was shortened from 7 nights to 3 nights (later add another night), she was annoyed and showed us a long face, it was not expected from the impression we had of Hotel Montana. Same thing happened later about a request of the invoice. I could understand the frustration of receiving all sort of 'special' requests, but don't show it to your guests, let it out 'off stage'. I hope whoever receive this feedback could do something and improve your hotel's service standard.
Attitude of front desk
Front desk and restaurant staff were helpful and very friendly. The view from the balcony was breathtaking. The funicular was very convenient transport between bus station takes you to center and hotel lobby.
This is our favorite hotel: great staff, great views, wonderful room (esp. Since we were upgraded to a top-floor suite with wrap around balcony and views of lakes and mts. And town. A great hotel, and one with real personality, unlike the chains....
If I were to stay in Lucerne again I would stay at the Montana. The view from our room was the best I've ever had in my life. The breakfast for 25 CH per person was the best deal in Switzerland and delicious. The buffet includes unlimited Prosecco, meats, cheeses, eggs (to order if you want), salmon, fresh fruit, variety of baked (not packaged) bread, pumpkin and sunflower seeds; the list goes on. It's a 5-10 minute walk to shopping etc. but worth it for the view. Staff were helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. The bed, blanket and pillows were to die for. We tried to buy the comforter in town but they were out of stock. Also, I highly recommend eating dinner there; the tasting menu before 9 pm if you can. It was the best meal of our 2 week trip to Europe!
Didn't have fresh squeezed oj on the buffet.
staff not very attentive, service is slow, front desk is slow, no swimming pool.Very expensive and not worth the money, i kind of regret chose this hotel. location is just so so. breakfast is average. far from the town.
The fantastic views, cocktails on the terrace, the piano player at the bar & the breakfast buffet.
There were no directions on how to get there. We had to drive and drive and just luckily found the hotel!
We travelled with our small dog and they had a water bowl, treats and a toy for her. Nicely done.
