Hotel Ascona    

The staff was very friendly (Anita) and also the waiters at the breakfast, all very kind and attentive.

The location does not help if you need to move a lot to go to the city. It is a quite steep road.

The hotel is to a high standard, whilst reasonably priced for the area. We had a beautiful balcony with lake view and a very good sized room. The hotel had a very personal feel, with the owner greeting the guests over a free aperitif on Friday night and then checking weekend was to satisfaction on Sunday morning breakfast. Good breakfast buffet, beautiful views, nice pool and jacuzzi area. Would definitely return!

The large bed us two twins pushed together- thus is a pet hate of mine!

The view from the room was far reaching and beautiful. The room itself was spacious and provided robes pool towels etc. It had a large terrace with loungers and umbrella but my favourite part was the beautiful breakfast on the sunny elegant terrace where the friendly owner had a personal welcome for all her guests. We really enjoyed the atmosphere here.

A well appointed international style hotel, good situation,magnificent views, ample parking. Cuisine of a high standard with meals taken on covered terrace looking out on the lake.

The less expensive rooms facing the hill side are inevitably darker than those with lake views. The hotel is a stiff climb from the town/lake. The hotel minibus does one round trip per day, a second would be helpful.

My whole family liked the hotel. The swimming pool was beautiful, the breakfast excellent, we just loved it. We would come back any time. Also I need to mention the scenery.

This is a beautiful hotel, the view and ambiance are out of this world. I cannot recommend it highly enough. We booked a room with no view but they upgraded us to a room with a super view.

The Ascona Hotel offers very nice views over the Lago Maggiore and the city of Ascona, if you book a room with lake view. It is only a short walk down to the old town, the lake side and all the lovely restaurants in Ascona. The pool area is spacious enough although we stayed there during the week and with the Locarno Film Festival just finished. The staff is friendly and helpful.

One might probably never gets used to Swiss hotel rates as also the Ascona Hotel was well overpriced - the room we stayed in was spacious with a nice balcony overlooking the lake. However, the hotel would need a refurbishing as the furniture, floorings and wall papers are a bit used and outdated. Although the receptionist noted during the registration my husbund's anniversairy would take place during our stay (and a round one it was!), he did not get anything from the hotel - no drinks offered nor a bottle of champaign. For a 4 Star hotel I found that quite poor.

Very nice hotel, a bit dated but all amenities met expectations. Room and common areas were very clean and well presented.

We arrived at 7 pm and were not given the standard tour of the hotel. This could have been due to our arrival time or that we were only staying one night.

Beautiful views from our room (and likely all other rooms too) and restaurant. Very nice breakfast buffet. The staff was courteous and older staff at the restaurant were extremely pleasant and nice towards our daughter. Our room -- cheapest on offer -- were very spacious and the terrace was an unexpected plus.

The bed was not necessarily comfortable for my taste. More upsetting: if you don't arrive rather early for breakfast or dinner you'll be in for lousier service as the staff gets overwhelmed (we waited over 30 minutes on our first dinner there to get to look at the menus -- a table besides ours went through worse).

We really liked the swimming pool! Everything else was also great.

I liked breakfast in the morning and the view from our room balcony and outdoor dining area. Nice clean heated pool with well kept grounds. Free computer access in the social area. Onsite free parking. Delicious evening meal.

No air conditioning in standard double room. Feathered pillows no hypo allergenic available. Only channels in English on tv were news channels . No coffee or tea making facility in the room. Poor built in hair dryer in bathroom with weak flow. Woken up at 0430 one morning by young guests. Easy to hear guests in other rooms with elevated speaking etc. Beds could be more comfortable.

Beautiful place where you can relax after the long journey: the lake, the mountains near it, the big swimming pool with the best view of this lake and mountains. Very good breakfast, free parking.

Perfect location with great view. Very friendly, helpful and pleasant staff, great room with large balcony (we got a free upgrade without even asking for it!). Everything in order and always clean. Lovely garden with a well sized outdoor pool. Parking (garage) right next to the hotel. 10 minutes walking distance to the city/lakeside. Propper breakfast, nice restaurant with very good view to the valley/lake. Interesting mix of guests (young/old couples, old ladies, families of all ages). Make reservations directly with the hotel, the service is much better and the prices the same.The place to stay in Ascona, we will definately come back! Thank you for a great time!
