Excellent location and price. People saying rooms need refurbishing - that would mean the price going up! Geneva is expensive and this hotel also had free parking and wifi. Note that the mountain view room is on the busy road side. Didn't bother us with earplugs. Breakfast amazing value. Toast, bread roll, croissant, jams, butter, omelette, hot drink and juice for CHF12 (less than the tub of ice-cream)! With an amazing view of the lake. I bought icecream from services next door for CHF12.90 (I know, so expensive but I'm 8 months pregnant and I just HAD to have it) and it melted in the freezer. The manager refunded me the money. Overall we would book this hotel if we were to visit Geneva again. But one visit is enough really. The price is right. Just remember it is the price of a cheap hotel in this city. For my husband and I it was fun as it felt like we were back in our backpacking days.
Only lighting in room was a couple of lamps so was a bit dingy. We booked because of kitchenette. It only had forks, knives and teaspoons. Didn't even have a glass to get water in the night. Not nice being pregnant. Needed extra pillows. Only one each and were the kind that look puffy but then sink when you put your head on them. Also the bed was uncomfortable.
The view of the lake was just lovely! The room itself was massive which was nice. Loads of storage... Perhaps too much? Little balconette which is great if you start to get cabin fever. Lovely and warm and very lovely staff! Very easy walk to the train station - 20mins (but that was whilst lugging suitcase and heavy bag).
I hit my shins multiple times on the bed frame trying to get to the bathroom. The way the bed was made up made it look like the corner was the matress but it was most definitely the bed frame! Although there's a kitchen, there are no plates or bowls or cutlery in it?
The best thing about this property was the location! Absolutely stunning views of Lake Geneva. We have a lake side room and it was amazing to look out of the window at any given time and see the beauty. There are two train stations within waking distance of the hotel which is very convenient to get to and from the airport and to the city center. The hotel was booked full yet it was very quiet.
Our main complaint is that when we arrived for check in they did not have us in the computer. We had our booking.com reservation on paper and he found us in their booking.com reservations but we were not in their system so he couldn't give us a room. We stood there for about 45 minutes waiting for him to figure things out as the hotel was booked full. At one point, they were looking for us to stay at a different hotel in Geneva but it was way more expensive so we didn't want to do that. Finally he gave us a room from someone who had happen to cancel. The room itself was old looking and beds were not that comfortable but we doesn't book this hotel for comfort or luxury, we booked it for location only and for that it was worth every penny.
The wonderful lake view from my window and the excellent location.
White curtains, too much light early in the morning.
The lake view and the restaurant
The noises over the night: the door and the cars outside, but especially the door.
I like the location of the hotel: only 10- minute train ride away from Geneva train station and it's free--the hotel gives you a voucher for free train/bus ride. It's right on the lake with a beautiful view and good restaurants within walking distance. Very friendly manager and staff.
The hotel website should give clearer direction to guests how to to get to the hotel from Geneva train station--R train 4 short stations. Second, the kitchen should be fully equipped including plates, glasses, pots, pans, forks and knives. We only saw two glasses and nothing else.
Value for money
Nothing about hotel but Geneva is not worth travelling for vacation. So skip Geneva and cover other part of swizz. We had to come just to catch our flight and was a waste of 2 days
The location - right on the lakeside, with access to the water. Stunning views from the rooms that face the water and plenty of room to sit and enjoy the view while eating at the table in the room (sink and working fridge in a kitchenette, but no cutlery or crockery). Plenty of seats and tables on the terraces facing the lake. Station 5 min walk which we used a lot. 10 minutes drive or train into the city while in a village location. Bakery and grocer a couple of minutes walk for picnics in the rooms (meals very expensive but good service and food)
Having to ask for things, and a lack of communication in the younger staff. We never were given a breakfast menu so did not know how very expensive it was (only had it once as a result). The bedrooms/shower-rooms are basically furnished. Soap and a sachet of shower gel were provided, but no other 'freebies'. No pans for cooking on the hobs or utensils or cutlery/crockery. We also had the mini suite which did not have views and was rather gloomy with no main window.
Location by the lake is great. Close to train.
smells terrible of smoke. Room not very clean. Staff at check out had no idea how to check us out.
The suite is a pleasant surprise - roomy and equipped. Staff are kind and efficient and not intrusive. The lake at sunrise, in the view from the window, is a delight. Location and parking all fine.
Location, restaurant good food, easy access to town
Noisy wedding in hall below our bedroom kept us awake Saturday night, Not possible to get snacks with coffee in afternoon
The restaurant is quite good although pretty expensive, the breakfast was very nice continental with eggs, on the beautiful terrace. The shower was very nice though a bit dark.
The "Mountain View" is a street view with lots of noise. The room was stuffy with old tobacco smell stuck in everything. The kitchenette is just a stove, the fridge was broken, and we had to ask for each utensil. The room was cleaned every day but the towels were not changed, and the trash was thrown away only after WE took it our of the bin and put aside. The beds are very uncomfortable, and gave us back-aches. The pillows seemed older than me, full of lumps instead of feathers. When we asked for another pillow, we were told that "The hotel is full" and they have no extra pillows. In general, the room seemed not taken care of, with cobwebs in the corners and curtains hanging from just few hooks.
Room very noisy and train every 33 minutes from genave , no crocery for make tea or hot any curry , only one glass available just like a jail room. Last week i went to hipotel hôtel France really was very good about kitchen facilities
a few kms out of geneva on the lake with good views of the lake and the mountains. On the waterfront, with good transport connections. Lovely staff
Beautiful position on lake & near airport
Right on the lake with great views of lake Garden on lake Easy walk to train station centre 10 mins away
Room was old and very well used and with drab furniture. Large cob webs under shelving. some blinds did not work.
Nothing, except close to the Lake
No baby bed was provided for my 6 month old daughter despite a written request and a phone request. We spent two hours trying to build a semi-safe bed from chairs and mattresses for her to sleep on which was extremely stressful. The staff were not apologetic and were rude about the matter. The kitchen had one or two forks. No kettle, no pans, no microwave, so we could not enjoy breakfast the next morning in our apartment. The reception is just the restaurant welcome desk and you are made to wait after the restaurant guests. Tired and shabby furniture, broken window and no curtains so could not block out light. Really disappointed with the stay, I refused to pay for the first night due to the disaster with the bed. To be avoided. Place stinks of smoke everywhere due to smoking rooms.
Big rooms Near to the metro
Not value for money and rooms were not as clean as it should have been Very basic amenities
Easy to find.
The room with mountain view acctually doesn't have a view and was noisy from the street cars. Furniture is old and odd. Not enough light in the bathroom and in the room.
Very good restaurant, and excellent views over the lake. Friendly, and popular with locals.
The reception does not open before 08:30 in the morning... so remember to pay the evening before you leave.
location beautiful view and value for money
Did have an iron but we understand it is not used for business purposes.
The management was rather helpful for everything.
I did not know that I would not be able to checking if I am late even by 15' after 11pm.
It is on Lake Geneva.
A motion detector turns on the hallway light. The detector is at the end of the hallway - near the elevator and staircase. So when you exit your room and close the door, you need to navigate in pitch black dark down to the end of hall before the light comes on!
Close to the Airport, lakeside location
No iron/ironing board in the Junior Suite, or indeed anywhere in the hotel. Reception and breakfast were not available before 8AM, which delayed my start to the day. Only toast/croissant/fruit juice/coffee at breakfast, no other choice. Seemed to be run more as a restaurant which happens to have rooms available, I felt very much like last in line - having to wait 10 minutes to check in whilst meals were served.
Lovely lakeside location, breakfast on the terrace over looking the lake and with views of Mont Blanc. Room 1 (suite) is large with two hob cooking facilities and three beds. Very close to Genthod-Bellevue Train Station which has half hourly trains to the centre taking less than 10 minutes to get there.
Some traffic noise from the main road in morning. Came down to get breakfast at 8am to find restaurant locked up and dark. When breakfast did arrive (8.30am) it was just rather dry toast and jam, and oven baked mini croissants/pain au chocolat.
