We stayed for six days in Champery in January for skiing in Portes-du-Soleil. The ski resort is huge. We were able to never do the same run and lift three days in a row. Champery is a historic Suisse alpine village with nicely presented shops, bars and restaurants. Expect to spend approx +30% in Switzerland on everything - especially food. Be prepared that some shops take only cash and impose any cash withdrawal fees on you.

Champery is a quiet, pretty little Swiss village on the edge of a stunning ski area. There is ample choice of small restaurants in the village and once you are up the mountain (via chairlift or telepherique) you have access to one of the largest lifted ski areas in the world.
If the snow is not great, there is actually very little to do in the village in winter, so keep that in mind.

If you like alpine hiking, then I highly recommend going to Champery for a couple of days. The hikes up both sides of the valley from town are really nice - epic views, with steep trails that will really give you a good workout. The town itself is compact, and pretty lively (there was a "Jazz and Wine" event throughout town one evening I was there). There also are plenty of active things to do, including e-mountain biking, a rope park, paragliding, etc. Overall, a lovely place for a short alpine get-away.
The location is fantastic perched on the edge of the mountain with many mountain bike and hiking trails around the hotel. No need to buy a ticket for the cable car as it is included in the price of the accommodation - you just tell the ticket office in Chambery and go straight onto the cablecar. The evening meal is a fixed menu but the food was delicious and well presented. Staff were without exception fantastic.
Clean & functional room. Very basic but perfectly fine for a couple of days when you just need a place to sleep. The sports center is incredible but the hotel feels almost like a dorm or hostel. Worked for us perfectly as we just needed a place to crash at the end of a busy and sporty day. The pool is great for an activity when the weather is less than ideal. Good value for money.
Design, room size, good wifi, kind staff, well equipped and organized rooms, was confortable for our kid as well, big balcony, good breakfast for all the family, nice view, clean. There is also a spa , but we didn't manage to go because of lack of time. There is parking option upon booking. We met 2 comedian stars staying at the same hotel, was a pleasure to see them there.
Location, room space and gorgeous mountain view, spa and heated pool, very attentive staff, ambiance, snack bar, parking, dog friendly, near sport centre … everything was really nice. I also found the new year firework and live stage right next to the hotel were bonus. Would definitely love to come back!!
Located in the center of the village. Quaint hotel, has been well renovated. Staff is very welcoming, the rooms well appointed. There is no restaurant but a few excellent ones very close. Breakfast was very good. They had an afternoon tea with cakes that very appreciated. The hotel felt very homey
I cannot recommend Chalet Hestia enough, everything was perfect, welcoming and Christophe was only a door bell away if we needed anything (even down to Swiss adaptors when we didn't bring any!!). A lovely, warm and welcoming family, if we return to Champery we will 100% be staying here! 😊🎿
The location was great, the staff were kind and helpful, and the hotel had good facilities for a 3-star hotel. The added bonus of a spa, complimentary evening tea, and complimentary passes for regional activities made my stay even more enjoyable. I will definitely return to this hotel.
Spacious apartment. kitchen has oven and hob but no microwave. Views are spectacular. 5-10min walk to Champery village high street. Further to the gondola (we didn’t walk it but I would estimate 15 mins down and maybe 20 min walk back up (assuming you have skis to carry))
Location can't get any better in Champery - it's right next to the cable car, the shop and the train station.
Apartment is very well equipped with everything you may need in the kitchen. They also provide a variety of games.
Kelly and David and the other staff we so welcoming. Breakfast and dinner were delicious, especially the new ice cream menu. Its a gem in a remote corner of Switzerland, with superb access to hiking trails.
Most comfortable bed ever! I appreciated the welcome drink at the bar and the delicious included breakfast. Central location, free parking behind the hotel and great views. Friendly and helpful staff.
We loved the Suisse and will be back for sure - the rooms are large and comfortable, the hotel is perfectly located, and the staff are absolutely delightful. Really enjoyed our stay.
Hotel was well located, 5min walks to the gondolas. Great place with kids as you have access to the centre sportif and all the activities ( swimming, skating).
