The Bareren Hotel (The Bear Inn) in Wilderswil near Interlaken has offered traditional hospitality since 1706.

The comfortable, rustic rooms have been refurnished. The restaurant serves traditional Swiss cuisine and local specialities. The big and varied breakfast buffet gives the right start for the day. The dining room on the first floor is next to a comfortable lounge with a terrace. There are also 2 separate children's playrooms and a outdoor playground.

Our helpful staff at the reception advises about excursions, hiking, biking, sports and adventures. Bikes as well as public transport by bus and train in the surrounding area are free of charge with the hotel's guest card.

All children from 6 to 11 years are charged CHF 35.00 per night and person for extra beds.

All children from 12 to 16 years are charged CHF 45.00 per night and person for extra beds.

All older children or adults are charged CHF 65.00 per night and person for extra beds.

Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 2.

Extra beds and baby cots are upon request and need to be confirmed by the hotel.

Supplements will not be calculated automatically in the total costs and have to be paid separately in the hotel.

Food & beverage

The Restaurant Rustica is popular for its specialities of grilled local meat, its famous Rösti potatoes, cheese fondue, raclette and other local dishes.

The Pizzeria with the covered garden-terrace has the same basic menus in addition to pizza and pasta.

Enjoy a local Rugenbräu beer on tap or a fine glass of wine, while meeting the locals in our bar.

We also offer the popular "Tavern Special", a 4-course menu served in a traditional way going back to grandmother's time.

Room information

All rooms are comfortable and cosy, with a rustic decor. Rooms with balcony on request. All rooms have a nice view of the mountains and our lovely village. Smoking is only allowed on the balconies.

Area information

Wilderswil is the "flower village" of the Interlaken area, only 3 km from the centre. It is the ideal spot for excursions, hiking, biking and all kinds of summer and winter sports. By train the famous Jungfraujoch and the Schilthorn/Piz Glorie are easily reachable. It is also ideally located for boat trips on Lakes Thun and Brienz.

The Trümmelbach Falls, the St Beatus caves and many other places of interest are nearby - just the right place for relaxation and fun.

The breakfast and Restaurant facilities were excellent.The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable.

The standard bedroom facilities, not withstanding the excellent benefits of a South Facing Balcony, were somewhat basic in amenities and probably unsuitable for anyone staying for 12 nights ,therefore it would be more beneficial to take advantage of the Superior Room facilities

Nice, calm, traditional but rooms are a bit small. Breakfast was ok but a little bit more diversified wouldn't hurt. Could benefit from the Sauna, and that is very good after a day of sport in the snow.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the room was large and comfortable. Although there was no lift the owner insisted on a staff member taking up our suitcase to the room. We had dinner in the hotel and it was delicious. Breakfast was good, not quite the variety they usually have as it was very quiet and only a few guests. They did not provide eggs or anything hot. Coffee wss delicious.

Nein! (Lediglich der Orangennektar darf zum Saft werden, dafür gibt es aber die zauberhafte Eierkochmaschine...)

schoenes altes Haus, gutes Essen

Sauna ueber der Strasse, dort keine richtige Moeglichkeit, sich umzuziehen, kein Platz fuer die Kleider. Handtuecher genau abgezaehlt. Man muss wohl noch lernen, wie eine Sauna funktioniert.
