I found the accomodation very dated. I am aware that Geneva is expensive anyway, but the bathroom looks 30 years old and so did the whole look and feel of the room.

The hotel room was the only one available when I needed to book it, due to the Geneva Motor Show being on at the time. The only thing I liked - and I'd rather say 'accepted' rather than actually liked - was the location. It's situated in the centre of the city. That is its only redeeming feature. The price charged was utterly ridiculous - the owners were clearly exploiting the presence on a large number of journalists in town for the Geneva Motor Show. A price of 482 Swiss Francs for one night in a poor single room with no breakfast included is robbery! The room was situated at the front of the hotel overlooking a very busy road with little soundproofing, so sleep after 5am as commuter traffic started, was impossible. The air condfitioning was not working in the room (because the recepitonist said 'it's winter and it's cold!') and their solution to an excessively stuffy and overheated room was 'you can open the window!' (and let in even more traffic noise!?)

Its location The staff were not welcoming. Everything of the room such as towels, curtains, soaps etc were of poor quality. The room totally lacked any charm as did the hotel in general.

The first room I got doesn't deserve even 2-star rating, let alone 4- stars as advertised. There was a hole in the bathroom wall where a fan should have been. Being on the last, seventh, floor my bathroom got all the humidity and odours of the floors below. The room stank. Airconditioning heating didn't function, outdoor temperature was 9 degrees, the room was not particularly well isolated and there was just one thin blanket. Result - I was ill in the morning. Reception was not surprised when I complained first thing in the morning. I got another room immediately and that one met standards. It appears that the hotel tries to get away with the lousy room, keeping the acceptable ones for better opportunities.

This was my 2nd stay at the Hotel Century. It's in an excellent location in a quiet non touristy area with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. Public transport is readily available with a choice of trams, buses and ferries. The staff in Reception are very helpful. We arrived at 10am, our room was not ready, we were asked to leave our luggage and return after midday. When we returned the room had not been vacated. The Management were very apologetic and we were given the best room in the hotel at no extra cost. Wi-Fi was free and available in the room. The breakfast at €18 is expensive. Tea and coffee making facilities should be available in all rooms.
