“The friendly staff and services, also the swimming pool for the kids.”

The Christiania Hotel & Spa is located next to Zermatt's underground cable car to the Sunnegga ski area, from where you can reach all the ski resorts in the area. Many rooms offer panoramic views of the Matternhorn and free Wi-Fi is available in the entire property. The Finnish sauna and the pool invite you to unwind and also offer superb views of the Matternhorn mountain. In summer, there is a tennis court and crazy golf available free of charge. The restaurant offers a wide range tasty dishes of the local and international cuisine and during winter season there is live music in the hotel bar. Location was spot on, just a few metres away from the Sunegga Express, and a ski rental shop (for which hotel residents get a discount). Also you're only 3-4 minute walk away from the central train station and the Gornegrat rail. The views of the Matterhorn are completely unencumbered whether it be from the room, restaurant or even the spa and pool area. Rooms were large, clean and well equipped. I will concur with other reviewers that finding a free plug can be challenging, although really it isn’t too much of an issue. The staff were extremely helpful and warm at all times, whether at the reception, in the restaurant or even the cleaning staff, they were all constantly smiling and cheerful. The spa and relaxation area was exceptional for a 4-star hotel, we never had a problem finding a spot to relax in regardless of how many people seemed to be there. It was the main reason we chose the hotel, and we weren’t disappointed.

Despite the size of the hotel, one was made to feel extremely welcome:e.g. free wifi access in the rooms, free breakfast - which was a generous buffet, free taxi service to and from the train station, free access to the spa and pool facilities with complimentary bathrobe and towels, etc. And, upon leaving, each guest receives a personal goodbye and best wishes from the manager. In addition, the rooms were gracious and comfortable, and it was evident that staff would pop in during the day to empty the trash or turn down the sheets for the night. Altogether an enchanting experience. The fact that they have to close in October for a break before the winter season. and the fact that the rates are perhaps not always as reasonable at other times of the year, sadly for me!

I stayed in the hotel for one day only so I didn't have much time to get to know it well. However I was impressed by the service, friendliness, spa and pool facilities (amazing pool), excellent restaurant and excellent price. I think the room could have been larger and so could the view from the window. But for the price I payed, I guess that was fair.

The Hotel was such a perfect location for accessing the ski field and also was a short distance from the main shopping street, local restaurants and ski rental location. The food we had both in the hotel and locally in zermatt was absolutely lovely.

Staff at reception were very welcoming and showed us all the way to our room and made sure we had everything we needed. The gym and pool were excellent and the view of the Matterhorn was well worth the extra.

The LCD flat tv offered a wide choice of TV channels, which is a small advantage here. The breakfast is acceptable. Very old hotel, very expensive for what you get, this hotel needs a makeover immediatly!! Very old rooms, very small and the beds are not comfortable at all, every morning a back that hurted. The LCD flat tv offered a wide choice of TV channels, which is a small advantage here. The kitchen is ruled by a electrician instead of a cook I believe, the food (diner) is really bad, the breakfast is acceptable.

Very good Spa (big swimming pool, jacuzzi, hamam, finnish and bio sauna), clean and cosy room, relatively good breakfast (sousages, eggs, cereals, fruit, pastry, yogurts, fresh salad, etc.), relatively good location (5-7 minutes from the train station), friendly staff, 150 meters from one of the ski-lifts, personnel allows to use changing rooms/shower after the check-out The Spa-zone is closed at 11:00-14:00 and after 20:00. Hamam and saunas are closed in the morning. The shuttle-bus schedule/arrangement process was not clear enougn - please ask the hotel stuff to pick you up from the train station in advance. Bathroom cosmetics - it's better to bring your own shampoo, as hotel's one is a combination of shampoo with the shower gel. The most unpleasant thing is that you have be naked in saunas. Still can't understand what is the problem if I wear a swimming suite? I had to cover myself with the towel, which was not really convenient.

Somewhat disappointing, but not entirely bad Not a real 4-star hotel. Breakfast below par for a 4-star hotel in Switzerland. Dinners a total disaster, was sorry I booked an expensive half board.

The hotel is perfectly located in quiet surroundings a couple of hundred meters from central Zermatt, close to Sunegga bahn and ski busses. The rooms are very comfortable, many roooms have a grand view of the village and Matterhorn. The very attentive service, in the dining room and in the rest of the hotel, that makes you feel special is perfectly balanced with a twinkle in the eye and a " what can I do for you, mate" attitude. The food is delicious whith that attention to details that is so important. I will certainly try to book here next time I return to Zermatt. I was very happy with everything at the hotel

This hotel is simply amazing. Warm reception on arrival. Room most inviting with clear and unimpeded view of the Matterhorn. Exceptional gourmet 5 course meal with half board booking and also good variety with breakfast. Great selection of wines. Swimming pool, spa, sauna very clean with attendant. Wonderful ambience with staff always ready with greeting and inquiry as to whether everything is OK. Will definitely be returning to stay here for more hiking in Zermatt.

We were traveling with our 6 year old and the hotel was fantastic! The pool area was great for laps and there was a nice kids area. There were no other childen when we were there so it was also very peaceful and relaxing. Also a great miniature golf course attached to the hotel that we did not get to play (it rained) but my son was dying to try. Overall, room was beautiful and spacious, awesome view of the matterhorn and one of our best finds during this trip. We will stay here again! Husband thought bed was too hard. I slept just fine. Fantastic down pillows and linens.

“The Hotel is very nice, and the Hotel staff were by far the best I've encountered. Very helpful and very friendly. I was surprised at Breakfast when I was given a glass of champagne for my birthday. I didn't recall providing them with that information, but they made a note of it during check in. I will definitely stay there again when I am fortunate enough to return to Zermatt. Thank You Post Hotel Staff for enhancing my trip.” Justin, Saint Louis |

“Francis (the owner) went out of his way to get to know all the guests and their needs, all the staff could not have done more to look after us. When things go wrong it shows how good a hotel is, and when my son broke his leg they were fantastic at helping on every way possible.” Francis, Bracknell |
