Hotel Dom is in the Old Town of St. Gallen, just a short walk from the Abbey of Saint Gal, which has a UNESCO World Heritage Site medieval library, and the main train station.
Score from 345 reviews Excellent
Opened in September 2013, the Hotel Eastside in Sankt Gallen is 3 km from the train station and offers a restaurant on site, free WiFi, and free private garage parking.
Score from 335 reviews Very good
The Best Western Hotel Walhalla can be found next to the St. Gallen Train Station. It has rooms with a Nespresso coffee machine, free Wi-Fi access, and a free internet station.
Score from 186 reviews Very good
Opening in July 2014, this renovated military canteen is a 10-minute walk from Sankt Gallen Train Station and a 20-minute walk from the Old Town.
Score from 105 reviews Excellent
If you are visiting St Gallen as a tourist its ideally located. Make time however to get there.
On arrival I wanted to use the ladies - out of order and was instructed via notice on door to use men's toilet... Parking a problem. Hotel was very hot and when you opened the windows, the noise of cars were disturbing. The hotel is basic with no restaurant and having arrived quite late my only option was to go into town and find a restaurant that might still be open. I ended up not eating. The lighting system in the room is peculiar and I had to go back to reception to find out how to switch the lights on.
Everything is great! Cozy little hotel with friendly staff and it's near to the train station and eateries!
Make sure you check out the night before if you intend to leave early next morning.. the reception closes at 10.30pm.
The staff was friendly, professional, and very helpful. They were happy to provide directions, were interested in our questions and listened, and made us "feel at home" away from home. The breakfast was excellent every day, and the staff was attentive to drink orders and second cups. Room was cleaned well and in a timely manner. We were at the Sorel for approximately 3 weeks. What drew us to the hotel were internet recommendations and proximity to the train station.
The only real negative was that one side of the hotel was across the street from a school yard.
The value, comfort and cleanliness
Nothing at all really. It's not in the old town but it's right next to the tram, train and bus lines and is only 10 minutes walk to the old town and centre.
Pay later no respected. My credit card was already charged!!!! No serious.
friendly and helpful staff, good location, reasonable room price
room a little cramped, rather hot at the end of the day with no air conditioning (fan provided not very effective)
Friendly staff close to the center very clean and comfortable rooms free parking Silent at night we could really rest there
There were 8 big flies in the apartman when we arrived and some dead one on the floor. It was disgusting. Poor breakfast.
The young lady on reception was extremely helpful - changing our room when she realised my husband had walking difficulties and taking the time to show us on the map where bars and restaurants were. The room was well decorated with comfortable beds and a nice bathroom.
The breakfast room was very crowded - very few small tables we were all squashed together. The room was very hot & stuffy even with the windows open and the fan ( which wasn't very efficient) on. Needs air-conditioning. Parking spaces were limited and we had to leave our keys with reception so they could move it if necessary. The breakfast was limited. Bed & breakfast & parking was expensive.
Window curtains a bit discouraging, giving a gloomy look to the apartment.
Staff were very informative and helpful, as well as being friendly and pleasant. Breakfast was basic but good as was hotel generally.
The big downside was the room lacked air conditioning and was terribly hot - so used it only when I had to and sleeping was difficult.
Everything. Good location. Really clean hotel. Friendly, polite and helpful staff. Good breakfast. We enjoyed our stay there.
The room was spotless and the staff friendly and helpful.
The road is very noisy at night, with groups of people shouting at the top of their voices. In the winter this is fine, but the rooms are hot in spring and summer and I couldn't sleep with the window open.
Nice big room (there are several much smaller ones in the hotel), free Wi-Fi, excellent bread for breakfast, friendly statt
Not so much an issue in a bigger room: Sometimes rooms are overheated, some noise, tinned fruit salad for breakfast, for 1-night stay the egg-cooker is far too complicated, so many don't bother
Clean, very close to centre, friendly staff
Very central to town. Good value for money. Nice breakfast. Would stay here again.
It was such a Clean hotel
Close to city center and railway station. Good facility, etc.
The two-bedroom apartment was great with our 15-month-old son so we could put him to bed and hang out in the other one. The breakfast was plenty and the location was really great to get to the Old Town. The staff were friendly and accommodating for an early check-in and late check-out.
It's a bit lackluster. It lacks extra amenities, such as toiletries. This doesn't present issues for a one-night stay, but may feel a bit basic for a longer duration.
Very conveniently located hotel for our transit trip from Zurich to Lech. The location also allows to see the city of St.Gallen on foot. Very efficient 2 bedroom apartment for a family of 4, with decent breakfast included.
excellent accommodation polite staff very good breakfast
A friendly small hotel in a quiet area yet very close to the station. Rooms are cosy and well appointed. Breakfast is fine albeit a little short on choices.
A little expensive, especially out of season.
Service was Perfect and friendly, the room was nice and clean and had all u can need. Also very nice breakfast. Very good value for money, to recommend!
Parking was 10chf and we were Not openly informed before
