Great location, great view from our balcony

As other reviews have suggested, staff is efficient, but not terribly friendly, especially at registration desk. Wait staff was a bit more outgoing.

We stayed here about five years ago and enjoyed it greatly. We returned this year for the weekend to find that it is as good as ever. It is comfortable, quiet, well-presented and I can find no fault. We had a lake view from the balcony on the 5th floor which was a delight - the mountainous backdrop to the lake is charming. The staff are very amenable, the room comfortable, and the extensive breakfast selection is excellent. I will certainly be returning to the Hotel de la Paix.

We visited there for honeymoon, the hotel man was very kind and upgraded for us. The view is fabulous and very convenient, 5 minutes to subway station. Breakfast is also nice, I love the croissant anｄ ham.I would like choose this hotel definitely next time.

Nice location: city center, quiet, lake view. Friendly staff, good rooms, normal brekfast.

I don't very much like large expensive hotels but this one somehow has an excellent atmosphere and the staff are very helpful and polite. It is a family run or organised hotel having been built by them in 1910. Clearly they have pride in what they do. Beautifully decorated and comfortable. Wonderful views of the lake and mountains and very central and enjoyable walks. Dining room lovely and exceptional service and atmosphere, ambience and view. Large towels in the bath/shower room and easy to work ! Electricity plug very convenient for charging phone and ipad. Plug at desk height so easy but electricity cuts out when you remove your keycard so needs charging over night. Will stay again .

The food was a little disappointing as they had a new chef and to the total dismay of the waiter I had to send my fish back 3 times as it was not cooked and still pink. The artichoke heart was undercooked too. I don't think this at all a normal state and the waiter gave me free coffee and lemon liqueur . Food choice was french and when I last stayed it had Swiss specialities.

Room very clean, with lovely views over lake and very close to commercial centre. Our cleaner was very helpful and went out of her way to provide us with alternative bedding (see below).

Staff neither friendly nor welcoming and of limited helpfulness. Room safe not working and staff unable to repair it during our 2-day stay. Room overheated yet bed made up with a very warm duvet: duvets were developed for use in cold environments, not in tropically-heated hotel rooms. Breakfast buffet, though adequate, rather disappointing for a 4 star hotel: limited choices.

The lake and mountain view was picture postcard. Very comfortable hotel, ask for a lake view room but not room 411. The in-house bar was very good for evening drinks and canapés, the barman was extremely good.

We were in room 411 and when the wind blew it sounded like a jet engine in the room, something wrong with the ventilation system, I advised the front desk and they immediately shifted us to another room, which was good.

I stayed in this hotel one month before my second stay. I had a nice room. For my second stay, I booked exactly the same room with the same specifications and same pictures at booking.com. When I arrived, I was given a tiny little, uncomfortable room with a small bed against the wall, with hardly any space to move around. The hotel stated that they cannot change the room as they have no availability. It was horrible value for the amount I paid. It was an unpleasant surprise. Booking.com should inform clients that the rooms shown in the pictures may not be the rooms people will end up in even though a huge price is charged.

Lovely hotel with great staff. The room was very comfortable and had a balcony which was great. We could see the Lake from our room. Will definitely stay again. Breakfast was included but not a great deal of choice.

Very expensive. Parking was 28chf per day and the food was also expensive.

Quiet, nice location, perfect view if you are lucky to get a room with the lake view, that is :) Very nice, very clean rooms, friendly personnel, ideal for business travels
