This was my 2nd stay at ema House and they were very welcoming on my return. The rooms are large, free tea/coffee, free mineral water, a minbar, ironing board, video. The internet is charged for but reasonably so. It's only two tram stops from the main station and you can be at the airport in 25 minutes with 1 change of tram for chf3.20. The breakfast is really good and you don't need to add any extras.

The location is really convenient to the Zurich main train station (10 minutes walk). The lady at reception was very friendly. I was lucky to be upgraded to a very, very large and comfortable suite. Tea/coffee facilities, iPod dock, dressing robe and slippers, and an iron & ironing board, were all supplied in the room. There was a large clean bathroom, with a separate bath and shower. The room had large windows looking to very green trees. Breakfast is included and is delivered to your room as a standard service, was is very nice and makes it easier to prepare for your day. The standard break is very filling and includes cereals, some fresh diced fruit, slices of meats/cheese, bread/pastries, juice and tea/coffee. I was staying as a single traveller, but even though I was given a very, very large and comfortable suite with a double bed, I was only given one small towel, one pillow, and a doona that seemed too small for the bed. But overall a very comfortable place to stay.

Incredibly big room, comfort and cleanliness. Will come there again! It is 10-15 mins walk from the centre of town but to me it was a really minor issue.

This hotel exceeded my expectations. The room was large, and well appointed. Note that we received an upgrade, totally unexpected. The staff were very helpful in checking us in and spoke English. The breakfast service next morning was a pleasant surprise in terms of the delivery to the room and the variety and quantity of food available. The hotel is within walking distance of the main train station in Zurich and there is a tram stop (11 or 14) just across the street from the hotel. I would not hesitate to stay here again. It was a very enjoyable stay at the end of my holiday

Great location, close to main station. The room is very clean and the hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. Not many restaurants in the area. The door of the room we stayed in was a bit hard to open, was jammed sometimes.

A clean, well-run, spacious hotel with a friendly staff. A big cold breakfast is served in the room each morning. Nice bathrooms and amenities. It's right by a tram stop. It's good value for money, considering the cost of hotels in Zurich. The hotel charges for internet use -- and it's expensive. If you're in Zurich for business like I was, this is annoying and unhelpful. Also, be aware: I was upgraded to a big suite, which was lovely. However, when you're upgraded, the kitchenette is locked up, so that you can't use it unless you pay extra. This struck me as stingy.

The location was convenient, with a tram stop outside the front door, and being able to walk over the nearby footbridge over the river to the park. We didn't like anything about the place. It is not a proper hotel, more of an office block that has been converted into apartments, so there is no lounge or breakfast room or public facilities. We found it very intrusive having the maid coming into the room every morning to deliver breakfast. There were numerous things wrong with the room, i.e. broken or missing, which the management seemed unable or unwilling to fix. The worst aspect was the staff at the front desk, all of whom were arrogant, rude and dismissive. They were the sort of women who give the Swiss a bad name. The only exception was young Tina, who was sweet but unable to help with anything because she had not yet been trained (presumably the training would duly make her as arrogant as the rest). On checkout the harridan behind the desk literally screamed in my face because I had mislaid one of the two room keys. She refused to listen to my explanation and demanded that I pay 120 francs to replace it (I later found and returned the key). I was not impressed.

The office closes at early evening and does not reopen until 6:30 the following morning. As a traveler I would rather know there is someone there to help if you have a problem or need information.

The breakfast in the room was good. The room was spacious. The location was ok. The decor was white and a bit like a hospital. You are a bit out of the centre but with VVZ tickets (well worth doing) you can get everywhere quickly.

The location is reasonable with only a short 10 minute walk to the city. The hotel has all facilities as described and is clean and comfortable. The breakfast is repititous and the tinned fruit should be ditched and replaced with fresh fruit.

Our stay was pleasant, and the breakfasts delivered to our room each morning were excellent and plentiful, with enough extra rolls, cheese etc. to pack a snack for the day's travels. Though the setting seemed a bit industrial at first — with busy streets, tram tracks and long bleak steps down to the waterfront level — we soon warmed to its convenient location. We bought 24 hr. Tram passes from the front desk and could tour the city with ease. Walking back from lunch at "Lucy's Stomach Supplies", a wonderful organic restaurant a few blocks southwest of the train station, we happened onto a beautiful park that meandered along the hillside straight back to ema. Nearby White Elephant Thai restaurant was great! Though ingenious Swiss design provides many efficient, well-executed conveniences (especially in the bathroom) the general appearance lacks warmth. We figured it was intended to appeal to financial professionals in Zurich on business, as the suites are designed to look and feel like bank vaults. The "L"-shaped door handles and odd hexagonal knob on a brushed metal plate centered on the dark dray door resemble a combination safe. And the mechanical metal blinds mounted outside the windows that can be lowered and closed completely reinforce the feeling of being in a vault. The front desk staff was more curt than courteous. They acted disinterested, occasionally condescending, and did not make us feel welcomed.

This is not really a hotel but a serviced apartment. The only thing good is the space - you get loads of it. The decor is a bit dated and the beds are really uncomfortable. It's pricy for what you get but Zurich is an expensive place to visit by any account. The breakfast is brought to your room which is a nice touch. The price, the uncomfortable bed, the location (although quite close to centre there is not much of note around the hotel like shops and restaurants).
