Esther's Guesthouse was as wonderful as its reputation. Location is charming--away from the crowds but easy access to all that the Jungfrau region has to offer. Fantastic views and hiking, yet minutes from Murren, where there are great shops and restaurants. We stayed in a 5 person apartment with family and accommodations were great. Esther is a terrific resource, willing to share her recommendations and offer help. I wish we had more time there.

They are dialed in they run a great B & B and the location is paradise.

Everything was perfect. Esther was very kind and helpful. Despite the location (car free on a cliff) there are two restaurants for dinner within walking distance. Gimmelwald is really a nice place to visit. We will definitely stay here again.

The location is spectacular, right near the cable car station with views of the surrounding mountains. Great hostess, really nice breakfast where you can get to know other travelers there. Always clean and well kept. This was my fourth visit and we would keep going back.

A great place to relax, stunning views. Esther is welcoming and helpful. Playground close by. A road less travelled.

The views of the alps from this location are amazing. The place was very clean and staff was very friendly and helpful.

Petit hameau très pittoresque. Local à ski et luge. Possibilité de prendre la benne le soir pour aller faire ses courses à Mürren et de redescendre en luge. Chambre avec accès à une cuisinne collective très bien équipé. Guesthouse accueillant et très facilement accessible à quelques pas de l'arrivée de la télécabine. La proximité de la télécabine est un plus et l'activité qui y est lié pas du tout perceptible depuis le Guesthouse.

fallait s'adapter un peu au programme des propriétés pour les timings, mais aussi faisable par appel tél, vraiment pas de pb en réalité; dommage que l'établissement ne soit pas situé juste à Mürren même ;-), Gimmelwald est vraiment trop calme...

Hemos estado 12 días en el apartamento A (planta baja) con nuestros hijos de 3, 6 y 7 años, y nos lo hemos pasado estupendamente. Los niños salían y entraban de la casa solos, porque este apartamento es muy independiente, al tener acceso directo desde la calle. Desayunamos todos los días en la mesa que hay justo en la puerta del apartamento. (una especie de terraza comunitaria de la casa) El detalle de tener que llegar en funicular, nos sorprendió al principio, para después poder confirmar que es una gran idea, sobre todo por lo bien organizado que lo tienen todo para el desplazamiento tanto de personas como de un gran equipaje, como era el nuestro. Al ser un pueblo sin coches, los niños han jugado por todo el pueblo sin peligros, y han descubierto muchas cosas por sí solos. En definitiva unas vacaciones inolvidables, Los Alpes son una maravilla.

Very nice and clean guesthouse but a bit pricey compared to a lot of accommodation we noticed in the area.

The guesthouse is run very efficiently and everything is very well organized. The views from the room are some of the best that I've ever had and the local attractions included in the stay are very enjoyable.

Der Aufenthalt war super, haben uns sehr herzlich willkommen gefühlt, Wanderstreckenberatung inklusive. Das Appartement war sehr sauber und für den Ubernachtungspreis überraschend groß. Das dazugebuchte Frühstück fand in familärer Atmosphäre an einem großen Tisch mit den anderen Gästen statt und war ebenfalls top.

The location in Gimmelwald

Room was horrible without even a window (small skylight only). Our room was also very small with a ceiling height that meant in almost all of it we could not stand and it was hot. Esther never meets her guests except at the check-in and departure process which is scheduled for 1 hr in the morning and 1 hr in evening. We saw her unfriendly but efficient demenor for a total of 5 minutes over 4 days. Breakfast is not included in the 130 Francs we were charged and had to pay 15 Francs per person extra each day for it and it had to be ordered by 5:30 the previous day (one of Esther's many rules. This is basically a hostel at decent hotel prices.

I had a very pleasant stay in this small guesthouse. Gimmelwald is a lovely small village where you can really relax as there is nothing else to do but enjoy the mountains by different ways. The house is partly a bit outdated, but the feeling was cosy. If you like to save some money, there are very good facilities to cook yourself. Just remember to shop in Mürren or Lauterbrunnen as there are no shops in Gimmelwald. Hotel has a practical location just 1 min walking from cable car station. There is a wifi and also a computer for free use. I would happily stay again and recommend to anyone travelling to Gimmelwald area.

Only things I can think is that there were no proper curtains in the room window and that the single room is very small. If you have lots of luggage it may be a problem.

It would have been very helpful to have been encouraged to bring food - to suggest that a meal can be prepared there and that there is space in a refrigerator. We had a hard time figuring out how to eat and could find no stores open in nearby Murren on a holiday. Prepare to knock your head at every turn in the upstairs rooms.
