Wengen was one of Switzerland's first major centres for hiking, climbing and skiing, and the Hotel Falken, built in 1895, provided early visitors with a comfortable base for exploring the Jungfrau region. The hotel's original character has been carefully preserved by successive generations of family owners. The cosy lounge, bar and music room are furnished with antiques and decorated with historic pictures and photographs, creating a unique atmosphere in which guests feel at home from the first moment of their stay. The comfortable bedrooms, all with glorious mountain views, make for an unforgettable stay. Our cosy parlour and hotel bar are popular meeting places for our guests and in winter our pianist hosts great evening concerts there.

The 44 rooms are furnished in a traditional Alpine style. Most have balconies, and all offer fantastic views of the Jungfrau Massif or across the village to the surrounding mountains.

Wengen and the whole Jungfrau region are one of the most amazing mountain areas in the world. Whether you just enjoy the scenery or are active, it is an absolute paradise for any mountain lover.

Wengen is located in the heart of the Jungfrau region and is the perfect location to start hikes for any level. There are myriads of shorter trails within and around the village, and numerous longer ones starting right at our front door or by taking the local transportation. For the more adventurous, Wengen and its region offer activities such as climbing, river rafting, canyoning, mountain biking, bungee jumping, and skydiving.

In winter the piste starts and ends right at our back door, enabling you to ski, snowboard, toboggan, snowshoe, or just stroll right into the spectacular surrouding area. In the centre of the village, just 100 metres away, you can enjoy ice skating and curling. Every year in January Wengen hosts the Lauberhorn World Cup downhill and slalom races, surely the most spectacular races of the entire world cup circuit. Just across the valley you can enjoy a day out at the Schilthorn, where the James Bond movie "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" was filmed.

For those who prefer a slower pace, Wengen also offers lovely winter walks, guided snow-shoeing and relaxing spas. You can enjoy a typical Swiss lunch in the fresh mountain air on one of the beautiful restaurant terraces.

Travel information

By train:
Take the Intercity train to Interlaken Ost and change for Lauterbrunnen. There you change for the final 15-minute journey to Wengen.

Important information

Please note that Wengen is car-free and can only be reached by a 15-minute ride with the mountain railway.
