I like that it was isolated up in the mountains. The staff, even though spoke only little English, was very friendly always asking how I was and how I liked my room. Served generous breakfast too. It seems I was the only person there, perhaps low season and location makes it less attractive to travelers, but I couldn't complain, as I ordered a bed in 4bed room and actually got a room for my own.

I had a paid for a bed in a dorm but they gave me my own room because I seemed to be the only person there. They were very friendly, I had dinner there as well which was very nice.

La gentillesse de la patrone qui est venue nous chercher à la gare de Sargans alors qu'il n'y avait plus de bus pour nous rendre à Weisstannen. Un grand merci. Nous avons eu très froid. Pas de chauffage et bâtiment en réfection: manque des murs.

You get what you pay for. If you're not expecting much, then you'll find that you have a comfortable nights sleep with a good breakfast in the morning. Great location for a hike over the Foopass to Elm. I visited the hotel at the start of September, which seems to be very much the off-season (only me and 1 or 2 others in the hotel at the time), which should give some context to the comments below. The hotel seemed to be being refurbished when I arrived, but no one had bothered to tell me, and they were happily still taking reservations online. I was guided upstairs across beams and open flooring where the stairs were being completely rebuilt. The room I had booked wasn't available (it was stuffed full of junk put out of the way of the refurb), so I was put in an alternative. Doesn't leave a good impression. The language barrier was significant. Perhaps I'm a bit of an arrogant tourist, but I would have expected them to speak at least a little English.
