“This family run (since the late 1800's) is a great place to stay. The family certainly knows their business and has it all right. Views are beautiful, the food wonderful and they are very helpful in every way.”

It's difficult to sum up because the hotel presented such a great overall stay. The staff were friendlier than almost anywhere else I've ever stayed (they even gave us a lift to the station for our train home), the views were unmatched, the breakfast was nice, the decor was lovely (especially the paintings by the owner's grandfather and the historical Victorian Alpine memorabilia displayed in the cabinets) and it felt 'right' on every level. Having a basement sauna was the icing on the fine Swiss cake. And, given the location, the price was very reasonable to boot. I shall most certainly be staying there again. Each room is animal-themed and I wanted the 'Marmot' room but had to make do with the 'Capercaille' (I like marmots). Hardly a major complaint...

Fantastic stay! I would recommend this hotel to everyone! The hosts Gabriella ad Gary were so friendly! Treated us like family! They gave us the room with the best alp view after I requesting a mountian view since I am a photographer! This place is so scenic - inside and out! You will feel like you're living in a picture postcard during your stay! It is convenient located on all 3 bus lines, so you can catch a bus to town about every 10 minutes. The hotel gives you a free bus pass! Nice breakfast and ooh what a view while enjoying your coffee!!! Gary even dropped us at the train when we left! We loved this place the best of all of our Swiss stays! This is just a comment about Grindelwald, not the Hotel Gletschergarten - buses stop running early (about 7pm) so you might have a long walk back to the hotel from town if you end up missing the last bus (the hotel is outside of town). But, the town does have a friendly taxi service if you are just too tired to walk back!

The staff was very friendly and helpfull. We also liked the breakfast/dining area. We also had fun playing pool-biljart and table-tennis. Perhaps the bathroom was a bit small and oldfashioned but it was really ok.

Unexpectedly at departure we were offered the pick-up to the train-station by the owner's cab rather than calling a taxi for us: very impersonalized attitude all through the stay and this nice complement in the end! )

Wonderful family run hotel. Good breakfast buffet, clean rooms, very comfortable fireplace lounge, amazing views from every room. This hotel is the perfect location for skiing in Grindelwald - very close to ski lifts and runs. I would definitely stay here again!

I didn't like that the room was a bit too warm, and the tv from the 70s.

The warm welcome we received on arrival and the continuing helpfulness and friendliness were what made this hotel special and memorable. The location could not have been better what with the Eiger staring at us from our bed and balcony. The public rooms were cozy and inviting, and the food was delicious. I don't think we had a better hotel experience on our whole three and a half week trip through Switzerland, Italy, and Slovenia.

Staying at this hotel was like coming home. The owners were delightful. The room we had was very spacious, very clean and had a magnificient view of the mountains. Location was great - just outside the center of town and a short walk to shopping and the train. We had dinner both nights at the hotel resturant and enjoyed both tremendously. We were sorry we weren't staying longer. Plenty to do in the area and a beautiful location.

The owners were very welcoming and pleasant throughout our stay. Also, they were most helpful in getting us tickets for the Jungfrau train trip -- something that we had wanted to do for ages! We had beautiful, clear weather -- not their doing but they kept their eyes on the weather! Our room was large, airy, and very pleasant with a wonderful view of a glacier. The dining experience was pleasant and the serving staff was delightful -- charming and helpful young ladies. A very nice gesture is that both Gary and his wife came out to our car to say goodbye and wish us well! They really are great hosts!

A comfortable stay - the staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Well situated (maybe ten minutes from 'the centre' but that doesn't matter). We had a 'superior' double room which was spacious with a good view. Good breakfast & the evening meals are varied and well presented. One small niggle: the bathroom taps are clunky and not easy to use.

Hotel staff was so warm and nice. The 3rd day was raining, but we wanted to go for a hike. Hotel owner gave us wonderful suggestions where to visit in rainy day and we enjoyed it so much. Also adviced us to buy a child pass for my 11 daughter, which is valid for 1yr and can be used for all train & gondola in the area. That saved us a lot of money on transportation. Breakfast was very good & we enjoyed freshly baked bread & homemade yogurt. A view from room balcony was excellent. It's really lovely place to stay for holiday. Water tap: a bit difficult to use, but maybe it's common in Swiss. Anyway No problem, we get used to it.

This family run (since the late 1800's) is a great place to stay. The family certainly knows their business and has it all right. Views are beautiful, the food wonderful and they are very helpful in every way. Well, the cost with the Swiss Franc verses the dollar and the high prices in Switzerland alone. But I would return to the Hotel.

The family hospitality was wonderful. Beautiful location a little outside of town with views of the mountains from the balconies. Fourth generation inn keepers that are a very nice family and pay great attention to customer service. We had dinner at the inn and the food was excellant. Recommended a wonderful hike and we are to purchase tickets to the gondola from the inn rather than wait in line. Free pick-up to and from the train station. Would recommend the inn.

The hotel was absolutely beautiful and quaint. It is over 100 years old, flowers flowing off the balconies, incredible view of the mountains and the staff is beyond friendly and helpful. I would 100% recommend this hotel and stay there again. The only small downside for the less mobile is that it is about 1km from the train station uphill, ( there are three buses every hour if you don't want to walk). However, this distance from the station allows a full, clear, unobstructed view of the mountains and a small enough distance from the bars that is welcomed on a relaxing mountain vacation.

The staffs (owner) are very friendly and nice to help us to arrange the trip around Jungfrau area. Restaurant is good and worthy to dinner at night time if you don't know how to choose restaurant on the street. The room is very clean and the view is very nice. I would like to spend more nights here again if having chance to visit Grindelwald in the future.
