My single room was compact, but nice--clean, bright, quiet, and modern. In addition to the free wifi, I appreciated that there were plenty of conveniently-placed power outlets. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant is also great--the free breakfast buffet was nice, and I had a lovely dinner there as well. The location is convenient for sightseeing--very close to the astronomical clock and not too far from the central train station. I'd gladly stay here again!
It didn't look like there was any air conditioning. Not a problem during my stay in December, but it could be more of an issue for those visiting in summer.
Extra help from front desk staff - directed us to movie theaters with English offerings; specific directions for best options and which bus to take for each
Very central for sightseeing and 10 mins from the railway station for going further afield. Very popular restaurant but we did manage to eat there one evening! Well run by courteous staff, would recommend to anyone.
Sloping ceiling of room (on top floor) a problem for me (I'm just under 5') - would be worse for taller person. Don't expect to sleep much past 8.30am on 4th floor due to noisy laundry staff and machinery. That said, it's still a good hotel!
Bed comfortable. Lovely room. Loved how windows opened. Beautiful view. Bells nearby: lovely. Location: perfect! Service: excellent. Delicious soup and wine in restaurant on site. Breakfast: perfect for me. Granola and yoghurt and breads: delicious. Cappucino: perfect. Quiet, lovely. Slept very well. Wireless not so good but very old, thick walls which make for nice, quiet room. Bathroom was amazing! size of closet and everything worked well. Shower nice. Loved the room. Would go back for sure. Value was good. Switzerland is just very expensive - seems to come with the territory there. For one person, price would have felt expensive for me, but sharing, price is more doable.
Traveling not as a couple but as 2, single women. Twin beds are not separate nor can you separate them. Bathroom is more like a closet than separate bathroom so sounds and odors could be an issue for some. I thought the bathroom was cool and fun and I loved seeing the design.
location, room comfort
very noisy in the night (Saturday) due to street and pub noise from outside
Location is ideal. Room clean, spacious and comfortable. Reception staff were very polite and helpful.
Breakfast - atrocious. Serving lady was rude and would not even heat up a dry croissant in their microwave. Real shame as the hotel is great. Plenty of other good cafes and bars next door though.
Fine central situation in 500-year-old building, less than a minute's stroll from the Zytglogge (mechanical clock in the oldest tower). We used the wonderful shopping arcades and were within very close distance of the Kultur-Casino (for a concert) and the Kunstmuseum. It has an excellent restaurant with a cellared ceiling, and a fine breakfast buffet. Everything has been modernised in 2008. Staff superbly helpful (buying concert tickets for us in advance, for example, and providing free transport tickets). Beds and pillows very comfortable. We would return!
Nothing, really. The modernisation has meant that the bedrooms are just a little spartan, but the fittings are elegant. It is short on public sitting rooms, it would appear, but that didn't worry us at all.
The Service, the atmosphere, the friendly Staff, the Restaurant, serving predominantly locally sourced products and, of course….Location….Location….Location…right in the heart of the old city of Berne!! Yes! You will find Hotels with bigger Rooms and bigger Bathrooms, but, I am sorry, I do not subscribe to “Battery Cage”-type accommodation!
Beautiful place, comfortable, clean and very helpful staff.
street is slightly noisy
A very pleasant three night stay. Very clean room, helpful staff, and a decent breakfast buffet with a tasty latte macchiato in the hotel's cozy restaurant. It's "Old Town" location is an easy walk from the train station and right in the midst of a number of good dining options.
Bathrooms are very small. Ask for the largest available when booking or checking in.
location breakfast included and was very good staff very nice room was clean and spacious
bathroom was small bed basic
great location, staff very helpful & nice & clean
no aircon, none seem to in Bern
Location/Sijainti Three persons room to courty yard was very silent. Kolmen henkilön huone sisäpihalle päin oli erittäin rauhallinen ja hiljainen. Breakfast was very good Aamiainen oli hyvä. Staff was very helpful.
- Generally room prices in Swizzerian hotels are quite high.
Noisy people at street restaurants,
Room had a high ceiling Clean and well organized
The bathroom is an odd design, very small and slightly elevated
Breakfast was quite good, though choices limited, and smoke came into room from smokers outside. Position was brilliant for old town. Dinner in restaurant was good, quick.
Bathroom in single room was rather like being in a caravan, a raised cabin with glass walls, altho all facilities were available. High windows and little view.
Very good location
location, authentic, good breakfast, and quiet.
Small "cabine like" bathroom
The location is perfect right in the centre of the Old Town so great for exploring on foot, by tram or bus (which are free if you are staying at a hotel in Bern). The breakfasts were just what we wanted (no cooked English) but cereal, bread, jams, museli, yoghurt, cheese, cold meats, fruit juice, boiled eggs so more than enough to keep us going all day. All the staff were very friendly and spoken English.
A little noisy at night but by midnight it started to quieten down.
Awesome location, great for business.
Clock bells all night...
Wonderful breakfast and very beautiful dining room, hotel rooms were clean, and great location within walking distance to almost everything. The city of Bern was amazing!
Uncomfortable beds, bathrooms within hotels rooms were not very private, noisey bar across the street at night, some staff not very helpful in giving advise on places to eat and directions...
Location of the Hotel was Goodyear
Rom eş Tools smalı. There was No coach in the room but an uncomfotable chair to sit on. There was no wardrobe to hang clothes Prime was too high for such a room.
We stayed on a balmy Friday night and with no air-con needed the windows open. The noise from the street just below us was really really loud - the Bernese just don't go to sleep on a balmy summer night - seriously, was awake with noise still at 3.30pm and then hearing the tables set up for breakfast on the street by 6. Lucky we only stayed one night.
