I stayed at Hotel and Restaurant Stern Luzern on the night of Tuesday 7 July 2015. I arrived earlier than check-in time, but the guy at the hotel concierge gave me the key to my room with no problem and allowed me to pay for my stay (also with no problem, of course).
I came back a few minutes after 3:00 PM (check-in time) and went straight to my room. A minute after I put down my belongings and made myself comfortable, another couple opened the door to my room and we were very confused as to why the hotel gave them a key to the same room that they had given me. The couple went downstairs to ask, and I had closed the door assuming that the hotel had made a mistake in giving them the wrong room key and would assign them to another room. I was wrong.
A minute later, another guy from the hotel concierge came knocking on my door and looked at me for 30 seconds before I asked, “Is there a problem?” He basically accused me of not having a reservation and proceeded to tell me, “do not touch anything” and “go downstairs immediately” as though I was a criminal that did not belong there, even though I definitely reserved a room and had evidence that I already paid, even though I had only been there for a total of about 3 minutes. After following him down four flights of stairs, he finally informed me that the earlier guy had made a mistake by placing me in the wrong room, and that I was actually in the room next door. I’m not really sure why he couldn’t have informed me of that from the very beginning when I opened the door to his knocking instead of making me feel unwelcome and making me worried that I would have no place to stay in a foreign country that I was visiting by myself.
Later in the night, I went downstairs to ask for a bottle of water from the same guy, who told me that it would come out to 6,50 CHF (talk about overpriced).
