We chose the Hotel du Gran Lac Excelsior because of its position near Chateau Chillon and the fact that we could get rooms in our price range with lake views.

The hotel is very good and the staff were very helpful. The room was slightly run down but the hotel facilities and the lobby decor Was great. Also the fact that all rooms had a lake view was the highlight of the stay. The tv could have been slightly bigger in the rooms and there needs to be wifi in all rooms. Surfing Internet on tv is not a convenient option for iPad owners.

Good air con large room clean room Upgrade to junior suite but didnt have panoramic view as described. Room wasnt in picture on web but on adjoining hotel.Room was noisy at night with trains rumbling pass. Bed was hard. There was a bad musty smell in hallway connecting to swimming pool. Wasnt made aware that coffee in room wasnt free.

The garden attached to the suite is the best. It gave my kids lots of fun. The location is good as it is very close to the castle. A bit expensive

We have stayed in 5 hotels this holiday. All booked through Booking.com and this one was a big disappointment. There is nothing Grand about this hotel any more. It may be going through some refurbishment but it is shabby and very tired. I am glad we were only staying one night here. We were on an early start the next morning so did not have time for breakfast in the hotel but even if we could have at CHF26 per person we would have declined.

Lots of "Belle Epoque" charm. Large bedroom and bathroom, balcony overlooking the lake. Unfortunately the weather was so bad that we decided to curtail our stay, and the desk staff obligingly only charged us for the night we spent there.

Very clean everywhere. The hotel is shabby, you rarely see the staff. All in all it's not that bad, but the price is exaggerated even for Switzerland. Too far from Montreux to go on foot.

The room was very nice and big , with a vew to the lake. Really excelent. The hotel staff very kind. Brekfast was nice. We really liked our staying in the hotel and will recomand it to our friends. The parking is not so comfortable.

The front desk staff was very friendly. The view from the room was very nice. The hotel was far from the center of town. We picked this hotel because of the lake view but it took us over 20 minutes to walk to the main train station. The hotel itself was rather run down- paint was peeling off the walls and there were stains on the carpet. The furniture was old and had many nicks- the place did not look like it was well taken care of at all. The buffet breakfast was incredibly disappointing - especially since they charge 23 CHF per person for it! They didn't even offer to make us coffee but we had to get it from the Nescafe machine. While the hotel staff was friendly, it was overall a disappointing experience.

Excellent location. On the waterfront, can walk along the lake to all major sites, close to train station. Balcony with lake and mountain view was a highlight. Hotel is undergoing renovations which is a good thing because older rooms, although very clean clean, definitely need a face lift.

It was perfect! The location was fantastic. We had a lake view room and the view from the balcony was gorgeous. The bed and pillows were more comfortable than any other place we'd stayed in our two week trip in Europe. The staff were pleasant and friendly. The walk to the nearby Chateau de Chillon was one of the best of my life. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Switzerland food prices.

The room was very spacious and nicely furnished, with excellent facilities in the en -suite bathroom. It was relaxing sitting on the balcony looking at the superb view of the lake and the mountains.The beds were extremely comfortable. we had a lovely meal in the restaurant and the waitress was very helpful and oblliging. The receptionist was also helpful with using the internet as I had to book my flight on -line. Unfortunately I didn't have time to use the swimming pool, but it looked very inviting. A lovely hotel, but too short a stay.
