Reception staff were polite and helpful and the checking in procedure was painless. This time we stayed in a Junior Suite on the 4th floor overlooking the lake, the last time we were on the 2nd floor. The room was spacious, immaculate and well appointed with a wonderful view across the lake and down to the city and the Kapellbrücke. The bathroom delightful - two basins and plenty of space for toiletries is always appreciated. The bed was comfortable and staff turning down the bed each evening is one sign of a hotel that takes looking after its guests seriously. We did not hear a sound from outside our room. We dined Le Trianon one night and the new restaurant "1870" twice. Both were very good with Le Trianon being more formal. Smoking. Whilst the room and the floor was non smoking there is currently no legislation in Lucerne prohibiting smoking in bars and dining areas and, as a consequence smoke from the bar tends to permeate through the hotel. |

Our stay at the hotel was superb. the hotel staff was very efficient and friendly.Though its cost is on the higher side, we had a great stay there. They should also provide electric kettle. |

The personal 5-star treatment. When I travel to Luzern, I always stay at the Grand Hotel National and have never been dissappointed. From the moment I enter into the lobby, I feel incredibly relaxed, thanks to the excellent service and atmosphere. |

The view and the location are truly "grand." So is the infrastructure of the hotel. An unexpected bonus was the very fine Thai restaurant in the hotel. |

It's proximity to the Old town and to several excellent top quality restaurants. It had air conditioning, but it was not that great compared to US a/c. Some bugs in room, buffet breakfast expensive for what was available, a/c did not adequately cool room during really hot August days. |

this was one of the finest hotels i have ever stayed at anywhere in the world. the staff was gracious. The room was superior and the view was sublime. i would highly recommend the grand hotel national luzern to anyone, anytime! everything was perfect. |

Position, comfort, view and breakfasts. Other meals were not tried as they were not within our sense of values. (Salad roll from the shops in town) But that is just us - tight arses! Yes. Noise of high heels on the floor and general clatter from the room above. And we could hear every part of their conversation in the room on the "Rigi" side!! (They spoke French. I do not)! Also surprised and disappointed at lack of tea/coffee making facilities |

The hotel is well located. The service in the bar is average. The room we were given was on the first floor above the restaurant and we were 'entertained' by piano music in our until midnight even after complaining to the reception. The water pipes in the room next door sounded like a commercial jet starting in our room. |

Everything was great room, staff, view,place.I recoment this hotel and if there is the possibility to take one of the suites in a nice deal, you are going to enjoy them. The policy of the breakfast. Too expencive for the offer !!! |

Convenient location over looking lake with good access to centre including shopping, restaurants, train station & lake boats. Staff were excellent and presented lovely room with bathroom decorated with rose petals (it was our honeymoon). Lovely bar area with pianist and excellent bar staff. Thoroughly enjoyable stay. |

The staff were trying hard to please and the pool was clean an a fair size. A poorly renovated portion of the original Ritz hotel. Our room - apparently an extended mezzanine of the original dining room - was very noisy from Saturday night revellers on the quay and from the rooms alongside and above. The walk-in wardrobe opened from the bathroom was without light. The hotel has many non-smoking rooms but no non-smoking places in the bar or restaurant |
