Hôtel du Glacier  

I used this hotel as a stopover whilst walking the Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt and after a couple of nights in mountain huts it was a welcome change. The exterior of the hotel is brilliantly adorned with flower baskets whilst inside it is very comfortable with areas to sit and relax. There was free wi-fi so we could catch up on our emails, news etc. Our room had twin beds with an en-suite shower and sink but no toilet, that was located in a separate room just outside in the corridor. We had a balcony with wonderful views of the Alps and there was plenty of scope both inside and outside the hotel to sit and relax to enjoy the views or the peace and quiet. The food (evening meal and breakfast) was the best of all the half board establishments that we stayed in during the two week trek both in terms of presentation and taste. I really liked this hotel would definitely use it again if I was in that area.

We have stayed on previous occasions but this time for only one night. We needed to get up early for a good start in the mountains. The staff left us flasks of hot water and all breakfast food ready and covered up for when we needed it. They were very obligeing and we would most definitely recommend this hotel. The location is superb with fantastic views of the mountains.

The hotel is in the centre of the small mountain village of Arolla. I had a pleasant three night stay. The owner allowed me to leave a bag whilst I visited a couple of mouintain huts, which was useful and I am grateful for that.

The shower was an 'over a bath type' arrangement, but unfortunately there was no shower curtain so it was very hard to avoid water falling onto the bathroom floor.

The location is superb. Hotel du Glacier is located in a tiny village way up in the Val d' Herens. From our balcony we could see mountains all around us, including the glaciered one that gives the hotel its name. We couldn't get over the beauty of this spot. The hotel feels like an old fashioned ski lodge/inn which in the summer attracts serious hikers. When we were there (July 31st-August 1st), we noticed that almost all the visitors were Swiss. This is not a touristy place! The hotel is run by a friendly, helpful family. The meals were hearty and delicious. Don't miss the home made jams at breakfast!

The wifi was weak and sporadic, making it difficult to share our great photos! The shower was a challenge; with no curtain, we found it impossible not to flood the bathroom floor...how do people manage those curtain-less showers?

Cet hôtel a répondu à 100 % à mes attentes. Endroit très calme, accueil chaleureux et souriant. On sent que les patrons sont aux commandes, ce qui rend les choses plus authentiques. La vue sur les sommets environnants est imprenable. J'ai trouvé les repas excellents et d'une régularité remarquable, sans aucun faux pas sur tout mon séjour. N'hésitez pas à demander au patron de vous faire déguster les crus de sa cave valaisanne. Mon compagnon amateur de vins a beaucoup apprécié. Le buffet de petits déjeuners est bien achalandé avec une attention particulière: les confitures maison, le fromage et le miel du coin. Les chambres sont spacieuses et lumineuses: literie au top et sanitaires de qualité. Quoi de plus agréable que de terminer une journée de rando dans un spa agréable et apaisant: un vrai plus pour cet hôtel d'altitude. J'ai repéré une nouvelle chambre (n°40) où je n'ai pas séjourné, mais que je n'hésiterai pas à réserver la prochaine fois: un chambre de charme, romantique à souhait pour un week-end en amoureux. Je reviendrai en été pour découvrir en vrais les photos de l'hôtel qui semble magnifiquement fleuri et coloré. Au total un très bon rapport qualité prix pour découvrir la haute montagne en tout confort.

Accueil très chaleureux, sympathique et attentionné. Diner de qualité et très copieux.

Que està bien situado en Arolla, en el centro. Es un hotel con mucho encanto, el personal es muy atento y el desayuno es estupendo. Para los que buscamos precios economicos, este hotel esta bien, porque tiene habituaciones tipo albergue y habitaciones para dos sin bano, pero luego tiene todas las comodidades de un hotel.

L'asccueil sympathique, la chambre, le calme, la bonne qualité de la nourriture, le tout pour un prix très abordable.

Location was terrific, and balcony rooms have a truly spectacular view. Restaurant had great food.

Bathroom could use some updating and was a little inconvenient to use.

Stayed here before doing some ski touring and it was great! Breakfast was included and very hearty. Very quaint and picturesque!
