good money for value attentive and efficient staff nice, cozy, quiet and comfortable hotel in a central position in Montreux

the hotel has an 'old' look and feel, which is both positive and negative: lovers of design might find it drab, but there is a heartwarming 40s feel that comes from rooms and common spaces.

Located about 900 metres from the Main Railway station, and walkable without heavy luggage. 3Rd bus-stop in bus towards Villenue is just opposite the hotel (called Avenue Casino). The lake walk-path (Rue de lac) is about 100 meters across the hotel, and one of the most amazing views in Switzerland. The hotel room we chose was for 3 persons, very comfortable and neat. the bathroom was quite spacious too. Without much ado, the receptionist reversed a wrong billing done for liquor consumed from the room refrigerator.

Breakfast was included last time I stayed. It no longer is. Considering location, etc. (and good quality of breakfast), I'd prefer a slightly higher room rate that includes breakfast, Both stays, I was entitled to a "Riviera Card" that provides free local publis transport - but I had to ask for it. It should be provided up front.

Staff is ok, location is fair.

Even that hotel got wifi, but, it was hardly to access. Also, it's too hard to find hotel if you just arrive.

Good location and huge room with view of the lake.

Room needs updating to the 21st century, however it was quite romantic so no complaints.

The staff in the reception was very helpful and professional.

The Hotel location is simply perfect, and the rooms are very large, which in our case was very important. And parking was also very convenient. Very friendly staff!

There's nothing I didn't like although breakfast at CHF12 could be improved.

the location is very nice, just beside the bus stop. 2 mins walk to the lake side and easy to find a supermarket there.

Rooms look like they never were renovated and looked like that 100 years ago The view of my room had nothing to do with nature or city or whatsoever. The smell in the entire hotel did not create a good impression. Please note that we are not a demanding couple at all, but we at least expect decent conditions when paying more for a hotel, which was not the case in this hotel. The location is good, but they should offer better living conditions for what they charge.

Staff is friendly. Room is really big and also has a bathtub in bathroom. Hotel is nearby the lake, taking around 5 to 10 mins can arrive it. There has a nice coffee store next to the hotel.

Old and fallen into decay

A big spacious lovely room with a beautiful view over the mountains. Friendly staff, nice decorations of the interior, a bit old-fashioned but nonetheless very nice, excellent location, close to the railway station and to the lake embarkments, on arrival don't forget to ask for a riviera card - free ticket for the 201 bus to go to the Chillon Castle or Vevey.

This is my second stay at the Helvetie. I got a huge King sized bed in a beautiful corner room with two balconies - for roughly £62 a night - wonderful Hotel - it's location with all front rooms with balconies loooking across to Lake Geneva and ther Mountains is second to none - Wunderschoen!!!!!! Top klasse der schweiz -Plus Bon Suisse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is nothing to dislike about this charming hotel in Montreux - you'll be staying in one of the best vista points in probably the most beautiful nation in the World!

Near to the bus stop and the lake. Room is big and the bed is extremely comfortable. Staff is patient and helpful.

No wifi in the room. Wooden floor sometimes makes noise.

Large, clean room with exceptionally helpful staff and generous breakfast. Liked the 'old world' feel of the rooms. :)))

Wish they had offered train station pick-up. Lugging the luggage up the hill was a chore for me :(

Staff were very friendly and helpful and the room rate for the stay was very reasonable as we appreciate that Switzerland is an expensive country.

No big issues. Would be nice to have a small cafe (snacks/coffee) within the hotel, but we do not perceive this to be a big problem as the Linos cafe at the bottom of the stairs is very nice.

The room was very small, it was always cold, the whole hotel was cold.

Excellent staff...they always did their best to help out. Its location is excellent as well.

The overall hotel looks shabby...pictures are really tricky. Considering the location, it is well priced, but a full refurbishment must be performed.

Staff were Great and Helpful ! Hotel was close to Lake and Casino.

My first view of the hotel was the bright red carpet stairs leading to the reception area. My son took the lift with our luggage, my husband use the wifi in the lobby and I checked us in Miguel was waiting for us and we were in our room in less then 5 minutes. The rooms are very historically decorated and suited our needs perfectly. We were a block away from the Christmas market, about 5 blocks from the train station. Our walks to and from we're filled with vendors from the market and we always stopping to shop and eat! Best Christmas trip! Our family will return to Hotel Helvetie, thanks!

The bright red stairs leading up to the hotel.... After dinner drinks and walking its a challenge ....I will take the lift next time.

Staff were just wonderful. Great location near centre of town.
