Wonderfully restored authentic Swiss Gastof,freindly staff,excellent breakfast and restaurant for evening meals.Only a few minutes walk from the town centre and railway stations.

When we arrived the heater was unfortunately off and in the room we had like 16 c° (outside was around -7 c°)

Lovely 300 Y.O. chalet, with friendly staff and very good cuisine. Room was warm and welcoming. Internet available everywhere within the hotel. The hotel is within 10 minutes walk from downtown Interlaken and a minute walk from the bus station to Wilderswil. Few meters away there is a rental center for winter sports (and not only). Rich breakfast, but if you don't rush, you will find not much left, so you will have to ask for what you want and you will get almost instantly and for this reason I don't list it as a minus.

Small, nice, warm, traditional, old fashioned hotel, unique.Its not for somebody looking for comfort- there is no lift, but small stairs, but its the climat, the atmosphere, which counts here

Amazing wooden chalet 350 years old; great room alothoguh I could not really stand in the room because of the low ceiling, but that was not such a nuisance. The rooms were big, well organized and the beds really conformtable. There was a great ambiance. The restaurant downstairs was really good, so no need to commute to town for a good meal. Very nice staff in retuarant and hotel; they made our stay really pleasant.

I enjoyed the age of the building and its location in a nice part of INterlaken. The staff were friendly and helpful helping us with our luggage and ordering a taxi.

The room is very nicely decorated, the staff is very nice. The breakfast is very rich and delicious. It is not so far away from interlaken ost, about 20 min walk. The staff provided us free bus card in city interlaken, but we didn't use it due to that the bus goes only every half hour.

We asked for double-bed, but provided with a twin bed. The bed matrix was a little too soft for me, not so comfortable for sleeping. But our friend said the bed in his single room was comfortable, and not so soft.

Nice hotel in Matten near Interlaken, but close to everything

People are very kind. The breakfast is good and the beds are very confortable.

The bathroom is very dark and roof is so low. I almost couldn't stay straight during the shower.

I read previous reviews that some people complain about the height of the room. For me, i think it is alright. The room where i stayed have the height (maybe) around 2.2 - 2.4 meter. Walking time from the hotel to Interlaken Ost is around 10-13 mins. What i like the most is that they provide me a breakfast box since i need to leave the hotel quite early in the morning before their check-out time, so i can still have a meal.

The receptionist is quite busy at night during the dinner hour in the kitchen. So i waited for quite some time.

The Hirschen was one one the neatest hotels that I have ever stayed in. Being nearly 300 years old, it is the most picturesque hotel in all of Interlaken and is exactly what you think of when you think of the Swiss Alps. Short walk to all of the shopping, dining and nightlife. The staff was extremely nice and friendly(sometimes the Swiss can seem a little snooty). And the breakfast provided to all guests in the morning was delightful!

The only downside is that the hotel is under construction until November 2012. There was some loud construction in the early morning and because of the scafolding in the front of the building, we could not get a good picture of this amazing hotel. However, it would not keep us from staying there again!

Historical buidling

The worst cleanliness I have ever had. I was beaten by flea, all around my face, neck, legs, arms and feet. Seriously uncomfortable, the hotel should clean the room because I saw the review and some others had the same bad experience. I felt so sick but the thing is I can't speak Germany and even if I go to hospital, I will not understand what doctor tells me. In the morning, both my friend and I found out cockroaches on our bed. No wonder I didn't sleep well because I felt something all around my body. Even I checked in next hotel, I found out the cockroach dead body in both of our suitcases. How terrible experience it is. The hotel should give us the Interlaken card to have discount when you plan to spend time in Interlaken. But we only found out this in the information center. The staff in information center seems so upset for the hotel and told us that is their policy every hotel shall give the cards to the customers when they check in. And he will talk to the hotel again. That also surprised us because we told to the staff in the hotel several times when checked in and checked out, she didn't even mention anything about the card. Even worst, she never recommend any place to go. So we had to go back to hotel again and asked for the Interlaken card because the discount really make the cost different. Booking.com shall not have this hotel in your list, otherwise, there must be someone else will be beaten by the flea and will be so scary when they find out they sleep with cockroach all night long. It is a shame because the hotel is 300 years old and looks so Swiss~

The overlla ambiance was good.

Unfortunately the room of my friend especiaslly the linnen was not clean enough and she contracted some bug with itchy spots all over the body. Therefore it is required to keep the bed linene and towels etc. more efficiently disinfected at all times.

The Jani's Apartment, where we stayed, was great for the kids: many toys in the apartment and garden. It was cheaper than the Hirschen and closer to the center of Interlaken.

We had booked Hirschen mostly because it offered a family room. Thus, we were shocked when we arrived with our two small kids and were told that we were re-booked into two separate double rooms. After some back and forth we were offered the nearby Jani's Apartment (ground floor), which was great. The only drawback was that we had to walk to the Hirschen for breakfast in the morning, which took more than 10 min with a 4-year old.
