The Hotel Acquarello is located in the historic quarter of Lugano, right at the lower terminus of the cable car going between the center of town and the main train station. Some rooms have a balcony and offer views out over the roofs of Lugano. The multi-lingual staff is happy to give you recommendations about what to see and do in Lugano. Lake Lugano can be reached within a 5-minute walk and many shops and restaurants can be found in the immediate surroundings of the Acquarello hotel as well. The location is very good, friendly staff and would stay there again on my next trip. The cable car just next to the hotel, you cannot hear any sound of that.. Very nice place to stay...

Only that it's is near to town Center and rail station. Other then that nothing special. Staff was not friendly and you can hear the lift which takes you to railway station and town Center till midnight and early morning. No air condition not good place to stay in summer. No room service and even for wifi guest have to pay.

The worst hotel I ever stayed! It is like if the railway tram is in your bedroom every 5 minutes as it is actually touching the hotel walls. You get a huge noise every 5 minutes from 5.20am to midnight. In my opinion, a disgrace to Booking.com.

The hotel is located very centrally - between railway station and the lake which makes it ideal for a city trip. It is a good combination of the price and quality. We were two adults and a baby and enjoyed our time in this hotel very much. If you like tee, take it with you. The coffee machine is in the room but there is no tee.

Rumbling noise from the funicular will keep you awake until midnight and it starts again at 07:00. 18 euro breakfast additional charge is not good value for the offerings. Hotel charges for internet service in standard and economy rooms.

The room that I had was noisy. The cable car passed by until late night and started early in the morning. Unfortunately, the view out of the window looked like a prison wall. Great location though.

The most striking feature was the very couteous and helpful reception staff esp. Ms. Johanna. Small items like electric adapter for Swiss connection was very helpful.

Location is good, but quite a depressing place, soulless. Did not sleep well at all, very noisy at night . Hotel stuff quite helpful but seems to be depressed working there... I hope this hotel can improve as I would not choose to stay there again

The location...hotel was very central. There was a funicular going right through the hotel that continued through until about midnight and then started back up early in the morning. We were put in a room right next to it and it felt like an earthquake as the funicular rumbled up the hill.

I only had an afternoon in Lugano and chose this hotel because of its nearness too the train station. I was really impressed. Having read other reviews re the noise from the furnicular, I was a little worried but I never heard it at all! Very clean, staff very accommodating. Couldn't have wanted any more.

Location is really great, the funicular leaves you literally at the door of the hotel. Staff nice and reasonable comfort. The furniture is really old and old fashioned. But there are two problems much more important than that. The first one, is that the sound isolation is really bad: you can hear almost everything people are doing in you're neighbouring rooms... The second one, and more serious, is that the funicular passes through the hotel, and it starts by 5.30, which means that, unless you have a real heavy sleeping, your sleeping night is over from 6.00 am.

The location is at once the best and the worst: right at the foot of the funiculaire, so access is excellent, but the noise of the funiculaire - nothing like a jackhammer - is an annoyance while it is running. The staff were very helpful for my aged mother. The noise of the funiculaire is a drawback. It is not excessively loud, but it is a periodic rumbling between 5am and 11 pm. If the windows are closed it is manageable and in any event, I slept fine.

Located near the centre of Lugano No aircon. Very hot room on the front of the hotel above the finecular which runs until midnight! Breakfast looked very poor in a rather sad room. We looked at it and decided to go out!
