The New Midi4 place Chevelu, 1201 Geneva (Show map) Very good, Score from 90 reviews“very professional and also welcoming staff”
Ian,
St Helier
Overlooking a square beside the Rhône, this privately owned 4-star hotel in the heart of Geneva is close to the shopping streets and historic center of the city. Just 500 yards from the main train station and about a 15 minute drive from the airport, the New Midi is easily accessible. There is also parking available next to the hotel. Wireless internet access is available in the lobby of the New Midi hotel free of charge. The restaurant serves fine French cuisine and breakfast is served until 11am every day. Hotel Rooms: 78

Good location. Walking distance to the main railroad station and old city. Very nice interior. Nice and friendly staff. Nothing more. My "Junior Suite" was overfilled with unusable features (like 2 full restrooms and 2 tv for ~35 sq meter suite with one not devided by door volume). It's definitely overpriced but they want to bill you for everything (like Internet and breakfast) on top of this. What is even worse - there is no reasonable sound insulation between rooms - we have listened all our neighbour's moves.

I like the simplicity of the hotel. The lift did not work 50% of the two days I spent. Again, there wa no welcome water; at least a bottle of water per day, that has been my experience in other hotels.

Location. Staff was friendly. Very accomodating. Restaurant was closed, but offered the hotel across the street (same owner). No bar was open in the hotel (not sure if there was one). Some rooms do not have internet (lower level rooms do have access to lobby Internet connection).

Clean establishment in a fantastic location. Knowing some parts of the town around the Train station are filled with drug dealers and hookers at night, this was just far enough to avoid all of these problems. Great location and good service. Free Internet wifi only available at reception area. Wifi in the rooms had to be paid for but the rate was not excessive.

Very comfortable, friendly hotel with exceptionally helpful staff. Located in a lovely little square near the lakeside and within short walking distance of the old town and cathedral etc. You can use their computer in the lobby if you need the internet and Starbucks next door has free wi-fi but I don't think there's wi-fi in the rooms. Bed was lovely and comfy, shower was fab; free coffee, oj and water ( and croissants early morning) in foyer. Geneva is very expensive and so this hotel isn't cheap but it isn't as expensive as some others and is well- positioned and I enjoyed staying there. No smoking inside the hotel but there are tables and chairs (and ashtrays) right outside under an awning. Overall, a great big thumbs up!

The location is very good, at a walking distance from the Cornavin station (from there you can go everywhere - even to other towns and from/to the airport - by bus or train). Being in front of the lake, the hotel provides you an easy access on foot to both margins of the lake. Beside the hotel there is a convenient Starbucks Coffee where you can have breakfast/snacks spending less than in the hotel. There are also restaurants and stores at a walking distance. Rooms are spacious, comfortable, silent, clean (almost spotless) and look new. Nice lcd tv, automatic blinds on the windows, minibar, a/c etc. Bathroom is clean and has nice showers. Free wireless internet in the lobby. I'd recommend it to my friends. Lack of free wireless internet in the rooms bothers the guests, who flock to the lobby to use the free access. I think that this was somehow inconvenient to the guests of a hotel that boasts being a four-star hotel. Price per night was a little bit high, but it's better to think that there are many positive aspects that compensate it. Breakfast is expensive, I'd go for the coffee shops nearby.

They had wonderful art throughout the hotel from carved wood sculptures on each of the seven floors to very good and interesting paintings on the wall in the room and the corridors.Delicious food in the restaurant. It is in a good, very central position in a quiet square of the town almost next to the river Rhone.

It is a very good hotel, however its price are Geneva-style, much more expensive than what you would get in other cities. The location is very good, one step from the lake. My room had 2 bathrooms, what would be a contort for two persons. THey charge for Internet and for breakfast. I really have problems understanding how expensive hotels can charge for simple things like that.

The hotel staff were very accommodating. Breakfast was good - although it is Geneva so expensive by any other standards. Located just by the River, and a 20 min walk to the Water Fountain Jet and the Old City. Small, friendly hotel, if I was to return to Geneva and had won a small financial fortune i would stay here. I had to ask the air con to be turned out on due to a noisy bar across the street (which wasn't every night). Unfortunately they couldn't do that due to it being out of season and normally it's not that warm. They did offer to change my room however, and next day to my surprise the air con in my room worked. I don't think by anywhere else standards this is a four star hotel if i compare it to say America or Italy, and although it is Geneva it was incredibly expensive for what it is. But that's more Geneva not the hotel.

“It was clean, friendly and comfortable, and located in the right place. A short walk from the station, literally 5 mins if that, straight out of the station doors and 200 mts along a right hand turn and you were there, that's why I chose to stay here. Leave the hotel by the side door and through a small shopping arcade and you were on the river. Excellent.” John, Stoke On Trent |
