Totally refurbished in May 2010, this is a typical Belle-Époque hotel in the heart of Montreux, on the shore of Lake Geneva. It offers panoramic views and free internet access.

Located directly on the lakeshore, the Golf Hotel René Capt offers you a wonderful view of the French Alps, Lake Geneva and the world-famous Castle of Chillon.

Great building, vey good location
Hotel has not been maintained at all Dirty carpets, dirty rugs One can hear a person scratching next door Overall feeling is that you are in horror castle and Count Dracula about to enter the scene
beds rooms hotel itself a bit old
Room furniture is very old Wifi is very very slow Very poor housekeeping service No value for money
The hotel was an easy walk from the train station. Beautiful location on the lake. Good service .
The initial impression gave a real wow factor and made you feel important. The location was fantastic, and the views were second to none from the grounds. The pool although very cold was immaculate and attended. The young guy on reception was exceptional. Breakfast was incredible with a vast selection.
Once you got off the lobby, the carpet and decoration deteriorated and let the hotel down. Our room was in bad shape with holes in walls, a shower that couldn't be used as it was loose on the wall and simply flooded the bathroom. Our view was of the street as opposed to the lake. We were travelling as a family of 4 and there was a double camp bed set up for our son and daughter. This was not acceptable, so we had to separate the master bed which was 2 single beds pushed together and sleep in the double camp bed ourselves underneath the wall with plaster falling off of it.
Lovely outlook, good position for walking around the water front
Steps to reception and to room made it hard for wheeling bags. Think it was overpriced.
that wifi is available all over, also the views and the breakfast
The noisey neighbouring rooms, Children on scooters down the corridors at 11:30pm at night they were very annoying and wasnot what we expected at all! They were banging on our doors, trying to get into our room. Their was shouting and running down the corridors and was just a very noisey night.
I wanted extra blanket and they said we don't have any more blankets this the first time for me I want to a hotel and they don't have any more blanket
Close to our favourite restaurant and the Freddie more curly statue
Decor looking a bit tired
Location was excellent and worth getting a room with a lake view. Hotel is looking a bit tired but overall was clean and tidy. Staff helpful.
Room was fairly small considering it was classed as a deluxe room.
The staff people very good
The room cleanliness
Amazing breakfast, courteous and informative staff (especially Anne at the reception!), and amazing views and location close to food and shopping
The outlet for the ac required a window being open, which was inconvenient and impractical
Food was good quality breakfast was a great choice and very good quality Bed was very comfortable Toiletries in bathroom very nice. rooms clean (although dated) WIFI was a good signal Staff really friendly and would go the extra mile. e.g printing off our boarding passes for the flight home.
Sauna was 120 degrees too hot, reported it and they came down straight away No water in the gym/sauna had to ask for some at reception Couldn't get into room as it wasn't ready till 4 should have been 3pm Rooms really need a lick of paint new carpets and some plaster on the peeling walls in the bathroom. Gloss around the doors was worn away to the wood. The carpet was peach and stained with black marks throughout the hotel, they did try to clean them up.
- Beautiful old hotel - Great location right on lake and walking/running path - Very kind & helpful staff -- high quality customer service - Awesome breakfast -- it was a highlight for our entire family - Large enough room to accommodate our family of 5 with two Queens and a rollaway
- Although the hotel appears very grand, the carpet in lobby and common areas is quite dirty - We had to pay for parking in a neighboring parking structure
Excellent location on the lake
Unhelpful staff Rooms sticky without air conditioning or air circulation When you keep windows open you are disturbed from 4 am in the morning with big service trucks pulling in and downloading into the super market next door.
Location and view
Price performance dining was disappointing Most of servant were not interested in their job.... Not compatible with the reputation of Montreux
The location was excellent, right by the lake promenade. The hotel style is a "step back in time" with all the classic belle epoque styl;e decorations. Rooms are comfortable, bed sheets are the softest I've ever touched. The restaurant serves excellent tasty food, and the hotel provides a 10% discount coupon for the 1st meal. Would definitely go back.
The TV channels are random, example channel 1 ...then you have to keep pressing until you reach channel 11 or 12...then again channel 22...etc The walls are a bit thin and sometimes you can hear the neighbouring room's toilet.
The location is great...it's right by the lake & in the middle of town. loved the balcony and the garden. Rooms are of a good size & very nicely furnitured.
The food is not very good...shame! The carpet in the hallways and the stairs needs changing desperately...all stained!!
No air conditioning in rooms
Perfect location right on Lake Geneva. Lots of restaurants close by. Lovely Walks well tended flower beds.
Too Many people smoking just outside or on their balconies, smoke would come into our room !
We had a lake view room and the view was super. The staff were very helpful
We had to keep loging in to the wifi, if you left your room.
located right on the lakeside, this a beautiful and beautifully renovated old hotel. A classic, in fact: could almost be a film set! Make sure you get a room fronting Lake Geneva: the view is stunning. The exceptionally generous Breakfast is a bargain and the attached Gaston restaurant has nice staff and good food. I would most certainly return to this hotel.
Little to dislike. The low-key (but helpful) Reception might shift up a gear or two and somebody to help with bags would also be an improvement. Would it be possible to have room service? At present, there seems a slight mismatch between the splendour of the place and whats offered by way of hotel services. Maybe I was just there on a quiet day.
Location of this hotel is best in Montreux: in the centre and yet away from the noise and crowds. Just right. Rooms with balconies have best views over the lake Leman.
There is an option of tea/coffee making facilities in the room advertised by the hotel but it takes quite an effort and expense in order to get it.
Location on the lake.
Grand dame needs a makeover. Stained carpeting, etc.
Beautiful Belle Epoch hotel. Had a large room with a balcony overlooking Lake Geneva. The rooms were very comfortable, clean and spacious. Loved being able to walk to the Montreux Jazz Festival to join in the festivities, but also being able to return to the more quiet area at night.
the uncharacteristic rainy weather, but that made for very visual cloud formations over the lake and mountains.
