Situated in the heart of Montreux, the Hotel du Grand Lac Excelsior has a privileged location right on Lake Geneva, on the Quai des Fleurs (Flower Bank). Free WiFi is available.
Score from 580 reviews Good
Totally refurbished in May 2010, this is a typical Belle-Époque hotel in the heart of Montreux, on the shore of Lake Geneva. It offers panoramic views and free internet access.
Score from 679 reviews Excellent
Located directly on the lakeshore, the Golf Hotel René Capt offers you a wonderful view of the French Alps, Lake Geneva and the world-famous Castle of Chillon.
Score from 670 reviews Very good
Overlooking Lake Geneva and only 20 yards from the lakeshore, this guesthouse is a 5-minute walk from the Train Station and the convention center in Montreux.
Score from 547 reviews Excellent
the location, the view with balcony right on the lake, the architecture, the spacious room.
the reception, no help with luggage, slightly agee, the bathroom.
Good location Very clean Luxury hotel Big rooms Helpful staff
Staff was amazing. From restaurant recommendations and reservations to sightseeing venues, they wanted to make sure we were well served and happy. Loved the staff!!!! Location is super convenient. Montreux is a friendly town.
comfort location hotel
Top floor superior room with fantastic view over the lake. Request for an extra bed in the room accepted.
Location. Food. Staff. Room. Atmosphere. JuSt a beautiful place.
Bit pricey but it's Montreux on Lake Geneva so that's the way it is.
Closeness to the Freddie Mercury Memorial and Queen The Studio Experience. Hotel was smart, clean with friendly staff and we felt very well looked after.
Would have prefered a lakeside room as the noise from the street woke us up a few times. also love the minibar provided but would have liked tea/coffee facilities in the room
The rooms excellent and the reception staff so friendly. Good breakfast choice.
The whole hotel could do with a facelift. Worn & dirty carpets and the paintwork shoddy
Location excellent on Lake and near everything. Enjoyed our stay.
The location is excllant
the furniture is very vey old and have to be renewed and WC as well
We liked the staff at the hotel reception who were very helpful. The hotel is beautiful but very dated and needs upgrading. I would stay in this hotel again but I would have breakfast at a nearby restaurant.
I would not recommend eating at this hotel as the breakfast was very poor.
The balcony and amazing view. The old style furniture and atmosphere. The central location.
Some of the furniture is a bit chipped, the rugs in the halls are a bit dirty, and the paint outside on the top floor could use renewal. The balcony furniture is also cheap (plastic chairs)
Everything! The hotel is right on the lake! Central to the city, station and shopping!! Rooms are spacious with a balcony! Ask for lake view room as the other side is horrible! Easy to unload as off main road and easy to find! Heaps to do and the hotel gives you a discount card to get half price on a lot of rides and exhibitions! Very pleased with stay but not long enough as there is so much yo do!!
The hotel is well located on the lake and in the centre of Montreux. The staff were very helpful and the service was excellent. The restaurant and room service are good. Rooms were comfortable and spacious.
The hotel has limited parking facilities but there is a car park close by.
Rooms are VERY dated (even the 'renovated rooms') had very old carpet, curtains, bed and bathroom and only thing that was new was paint, which smelled so bad that I could not sleep and had to keep window open all night.
We liked the location and the view of the lake from the room. When we had an issue with the assigned room not being the room we had booked it was dealt with efficiently.
When booking the room, we booked a deluxe room with a lake view. On checking into the room, we found that we had a lake view but the room was anything but deluxe. There was a portable air conditioner, with tubing going out through the balcony door which was not only unsightly and cumbersome but it also blocked access to the small balcony. On checking Booking.com website we found that deluxe rooms have airconditioning but standard rooms have the option of a portable airconditioner, which was obviously what was in the room we were given. On returning to Reception to query whether we had been given the deluxe room which had been booked, we were told that the hotel considers all rooms with a view of the lake as "deluxe". This is not what was indicated on Booking.com site as on this site there were Standard Rooms with a lake view as well as Standard Rooms without a lake view. The price for a Standard Room with a lake view was less than that of a Deluxe Room with lake view, so we were very annoyed that we would be paying for a deluxe room but would be in a standard room. We were given another room when we were able to convince reception staff that according to the criteria on Booking.com about the airconditioning, we had been checked into a standard room rather than a deluxe room. The room we ended up in was on the fifth floor and was great, but the experience of not being giving the room we thought we had booked was time consuming and soured our experience of this hotel.
Location and breakfast
No car park ,no proper AC, no facilities for making tea ,coffee etc We were a family of four and were put in a dark and poke standard double room with a second bed for the 10 yr old and camp bed for my 5 yr old daughter . I had to jump over her bed to get to the bathroom!!! . They did move us the next day to the family room I thought I had booked in the first place. The location is great but the hotel is in need of new carpets and generally needs re decorating
Poor condition of the room. Poor standard of bed. Overal a 1 star hotel and I would not recommend to my clients .
Location was perfect - lakeside.
The hotel appeared to be aiming their activities towards middle and far eastern customers. The swimming pool and garden facilities were not as advertised on Booking.com web site. The catering was very poor. They could make so much more of the available public areas.
Great building, vey good location
Hotel has not been maintained at all Dirty carpets, dirty rugs One can hear a person scratching next door Overall feeling is that you are in horror castle and Count Dracula about to enter the scene
beds rooms hotel itself a bit old
old building with great location, great lake view
old furniture even broken, old decoration
Room furniture is very old Wifi is very very slow Very poor housekeeping service No value for money
The hotel was an easy walk from the train station. Beautiful location on the lake. Good service .
