Kastanienbaum Swiss Quality Seehotel  

Ottima la posizione sul lago. Distanza dalla città 5 km. Ottima la prima colazione. Lontano dal frastuono del traffico, ad eccezione degli autobus di linea per le stanze lato strada: ma è una cosa sopportabile e che a una certa ora finisce.

Il personale di servizio a colazione era molto poco attento alla clientela, pur essendoci pochi ospiti carenza nel serivzio (attesa caffè, non saluta, non cerca il contatto visivo con il cliente).

Il panorama che si ha dall'albergo sul lago e le montagne è veramente incantevole, e la posizione è anche ideale per visitare Lucerna visto che proprio davanti al hotel si ferma l'autobus che in 15 minuti è in città; d'estate si può prendere anche il battello che attracca accanto al molo dell'albergo e porta sempre in centro città. Il Kastanienbaum è stato riaperto il 1° marzo 2011 dopo 3 mesi di ristrutturazione delle camere che adesso sono completamente rinnovate. In camera troverete un piatto di frutta fresca e un cioccolatino Toblerone al vostro arrivo. Il giardino, con parco giochi per bambini, è curato, con piante di magnolie splendide e la prima colazione sul terrazzo è un piacere sia per il palato che per la vista. Da segnalare inoltre la comodità del parcheggio gratuito dell'albergo.

Il bagno è decisamente piccolo e mi ricorda I bagni delle navi o dei vagoni letto, ma non certo di un albergo a 4 stelle! L'insonorizzazione delle camere è completamente assente: sentivo addirittura il vicino che accendeva e spegneva gli interruttori! Per quanto riguarda il ristorante consiglio di cenare altrove: prezzi altissimi, P.es. Un piatto di formaggi 16 Fr.Sv., Un Cordon Bleu 39 Fr.Sv: e una bottiglia di vino parte dai 44 Fr.Sv. In su (il Valpolicella veniva 70 Fr.Sv.) ...

As it was not the high season, we could stay in the hotel with a very good value. It was just located by the beautiful lake Luzern, and the view from the garden was superb. We stayed in the room on the mountain side, (so that we cannot get the lake view,) but it was very clean and quiet. The beds were comfortable, and we liked that there were some fruits for welcoming guests in the room. Also there is a business centre, and we could use the internet and the printer. The breakfast was fine also - different types of hams, lots of fruits and cereals, breads etc. The ladies at the reception, they were friendly enough.

I think we both liked the hotel very much. But we found the restaurant just too expensive. (The set menu is about 75 swiss francs per person.) It is located in the so-called village 15 min bus ride from Luzern, and we just did not expect it cost that much. (We did not eat in the restaurant, so we cannot tell about the quality.) But Luzern itself is an extremely expensive place (more than London, Paris or Tokyo), so considering that maybe it is the normal price. And there was one strange thing about the breakfast. The lady who served us in the first morning, she asked some guests whether they would like 'scrambled eggs', but not everyone. So I did not know there was a cooked breakfast as well as the already prepared cold ones. I think if there is a cooked breakfast, it is better to specify it on the menu.

The lake view is excellent.

Need to take bus to go to the hotel from the centre of luzern.

The breakfast buffet was a little disappointing. Some hot food would be a good addition. Eg, bacon.

The view was wonderful and the restaurant is very fine and has his own terrace direct beside the lake. The boat departure is 1 minute on foot away from the hotel and Lucern is very close.

The bathroom is too small and nothing special for such a good hotel
