Good location, clean and comfortable room. Great games room and very good breakfast Check that you have been given 2 duvets - we were not and the staff had gone home at 9pm so i was very cold all night which made for a very uncomfortable night. Hotel has main roads on both sides - ok for winter but could be loud in summer

Very clean and comfortable. I had everything I asked for promtly. Did not like the breakfast that much as they did not have my favourite cooked english type breakfast. The two girls at the reception were excetionally helpful and professional

Great location very near Basel Old Town on the south side of the river. Only short walks to the city centre and the Munster Church, and several others. Good restaurants nearby. Breakfast was included and very nice, as was a city transit pass. Mattresses were exceptionally firm, almost too hard. Wi-Fi was difficult to connect and maintain one day but perfect the next. Parking is limited. Would have preferred a Double, Queen or King bed. The two singles could not be pushed together.

location not far from center of city and near to the public transport. As this location is in city, you hear the transport on the streets. On the other hand there is no noice from other rooms.

The friendly and helpful staff. The night noise when we had a room on the street side was intolerable. Fortunately, we were able to transfer to the courtyard side for our final three nights.

Receptionist was very helpful on arrival and a good location. Room was very good and breakfast also. Free tickets for travelling on trams / buses was helpful, since it avoided having to find change and use the ticket machines.

The room was quite larger for European standards and very clean and nicely appointed. It had a light, airy feel. The breakfast room was lovely with pretty views and quick service-our coffees were waiting for us on the table when we returned from the food line. No parking but it encourages walking and use of public transportation which is extremely convenient. The room was warm because it was warm outside. We thought a ceiling fan would have been the perfect solution. In the morning, we found an upright fan tucked next to the closet. Oh well!

The hotel has super friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast area with a view on the top floor. Spaceous rooms. Good location for business with the university and to visit the centre by foot or tram/bus. An extra point of interest is the botanical garden right across the road, where you can relax, read or meditate and not realize you are in the middle of a vibrant city. The hotel is modern, clean and understated. Lost a few points due to the drainage in the bathroom not being optimal.

It is not a particularly memorable hotel. However, the location was ok. For Swiss standard, the servicing of the room was sadly slapdash.

very spacious rooms, excellent beds and bathroom. very hot. several degrees higher than outside temperature - we needed to use fan at night as no air con.

Good location next to the (very impressive) university botanical gardens and just up the hill from the rest of the city. Staff during the day were very pleasant but a lack of a 24hr reception could cause issues for some. Rooms were clean and the place has clearly been renovated in recent years to provide a better atmosphere. Breakfast was basic but pleasant.

Descent, authentic, simple. I am business traveller, coming to Basel for 15 yrs now and have stayed at Radisson, Hilton, Swissotel, Schweizerhof, Europe, Euler, Drei Koenige etc... This was my 1st stay at Spalentor and I was feeling like home more than any other, despite there was no aircondition nor minibar in my room. Keep it simple and friendly the way it is and I'll come again. Garden is excellent. Frequent guest discount will be appreciated. I liked my first stay!
