Spacious room and big bed. Location and easy parking. Breakfast. Eventhough it finally works out well the lack of an employed receptiondesk during low hours (evening and weekend) feels uncomfortable. Bedpillows are slightly too soft. |

Good location very easy to get to the city centre.Nice rooms, clean and generally a high standard all round. Staff were friendly and helpful. There are no public areas such as a lounge or bar. Based on the rooms then the hotel is 4 star but I don't think you can really classify a hotel as 4 star without these basic facilities. Don't be fooled from the description that this is a hotel set by a big castle in big grounds. It is a very nice hotel and I would recommend it as a base for a city break but the castle and grounds are very small and not quite what I expected from the description. |

Nicely furnished room, very clean staff was not as forthcoming andcordial as might be expected in this class. Creaking antique floorboards made it imposible to go to the bathroom unheard and made the upstairs neighbours very audible. Basel hotels offer free public tranportaion tickets, but not this hotel since it's not officially in Basel |

Location, spacious room, breakfast. Not disliking but strange that the receptiondesk is unemployed during the evening. |

The tranquillity of the surroundings and the reasonable room rate. Also, the staff was very kind, if present (see below). The main disadvantages of this hotel are, in my view: (1) Except in the morning, there is rarely someone present at the reception, so there is little occasion to express any wish, such as "where can I get a bottle of mineral water?". (2) There is no drawing-room where one can sit comfortably e.g. to read a book or to have a drink before going to bed. One is confined to one's own room. Everywhere else the lights go out automatically after a few minutes and there is no living soul to be seen. |

Friendliness of staff, good breakfast, spacious rooms and excellent beds, easy to get into town by tram (tramstop in front of hotel) - only 4 stops from the lovely old part of town & theatre. No, excellent hotel! |

What a very nice place to stay! The hotel is recently renovated with great attention to detail. Designer, top quality fittings tastefully mixed with original details of the old building. Everything giving a feeling of luxury. Friendly and helpfull staff. Good facilities for babies (beds & chairs). Hotel is on the grounds of a nicely restored small castle. Shower tap had a defect. |

the " castle" building next to hotel had a very good restaurant and i was well taken care of by the staff in the hall / lounge when i decided to eat on my own for diner in the hall and not in the restaurant.. meal was excellent. . free internet access was a plus. breakfast was very decent- very good closet space checkin was average. no help with bags. english skills of amateurish reception were average- my room was 600 sfr. - a huge amount due to basel fair rates- i ended up with single room looking over looking loud construction and room had pungent smell or varnish. seems room never gets aired out.the bathroom had almost no place to set things down nor any hooks . check out was terrible. |

Excellent location. The tram stop is in front of hotel and 5 minute tram ride to city. Hotel Room very large and easily accomodated 2 adults and 2 children. Internet FREE via cable which is nice to see in an European hotel. Hotel very clean and breakfast selection limited but of very very high quality. Nothing. Loved every minute. |
