Hotel International au Lac

I did like the view of my room since it is show the lake & the mountains & i liked the brecfast althow it has the same list of food every day.

For location, for comfort, design and furnishingt of common parts and for position in front of lake and close to shopping area

Standard rooms are dark.. Next time I shall ask a room with lake view even though these rooms are more expensive

I was looking for the "Evelyn Waugh stories" experience, and this fulfilled it in spades. With its turn-of- the century feel. Old, but elegant, (staff and guests) and the fine furnishings of an era gone by . The room we were given was simply superb, with its high ceilings and fine windows and drapes. Probably the best hotel room of that design I have ever stayed in. The place was immaculate

I found the old established staff a bit stolid and teutonic for my taste, but the front desk staff were warm and approachable.

No minibar, no wi-fi in the room. Staff not very well prepared.

Ideal position

We stayed 2 nights whilst touring the lakes and had free up-grade to lakeview room with full width balcony - beautiful views. good parking facilities at reasonable cost for Lugano centre. Hotel is well located on lakeside at end of main shopping street (Via Nassa) 5 minutes from old town and ferry landing stage. Nice pool and garden area.
