Hotel Limmathof  

Excellent location, so close to zhb! Coop supermarket nearby. Close to the Uni Zurich area, cca 12 min walk (up the hill). Located on the Limmat river, along which you can get to Zurichsee by feet. Staff at the reception was very helpful and smiling, no problems with that. No problems with checking in and out. Internet connection in the lounge was ok and I didn´t have any problems with it - I didn´t mind not having it in the room ´cause lounge was a nice, cosy place. Hotel was very clean. It´s a perfect place to stay for one-two nights. I felt safe there, as a woman travelling alone. I would surely recommned it, if not for a romantic trip, certainly for a place to stay if you travel to Zurich for some reason. The price is also very good for the location and the servise. I was very satisfied, for the priority for me was the price, location, safety and cleanliness.

The room was quite old-fashioned (furniture; bathroom had no bath - when you had a shower, you were standing directly on the floor, at least there was a curtain), but very well cleaned every day. I didn´t like that in the bathroom there was a big window so that in the evening when the lights were on, neighbours could probably see in (as you could see your neighbours as well). There was a problem with the plughole in the washbasin, water wasn´t running out properly. I didn´t like the view to the neighbours window but this is something depending on the room you get and it´s quite bearable, if you travel for business or a short (week) study visit as me. What irritated me a lot was a sound of lift (my room was just next to it), it made a lot of noise as well as people going in and out (you could hear them as if they were in your room, so it was quite distracting) and cleaning ladies who started to work early (cca 7am). If I got this room again, I would ask for another, which is something I recommend you to do if you´re staying for more than a night or two.

Convenient location close to the main station and city centre. Reasonable price compared to others in this expensive place.

Having stayed there before when the breakfast was included in the price I was not expecting to have to pay extra for it this time. Another time I probably would not bother to have it.

Thin walls so I could hear the neighbours talking. The bathroom in my room was old. But what do you expect for this price in Zurich..

they should consider renewing towels and matress, they are too old. room could be modernized too. it would have been nice to have a hair dryer.

Tiny (single use) room, shower area on plain floor, stairs to reception, miniature tv, a bit spartanic interior, all of its USD150/day value goes to location, acknowledging it is a hotel in Zurich

This year breakfast was not included in the room cost. The carpets on the hallways need to be replaced,they are quite stained

It is literally across the Limmat river a 3 minute walk from the central train station. Excellent starting point for Bahnhofstrasse, University, Kunsthaus (10 min. walk) with tons of bars, restaurants and small shop shopping all around. The decors has probably not changed since 1985 but the beds were comfortable and everything was extremely clean. A steal!
