Located in peaceful surroundings on the edge of Zermatt, the chalet-style 4-star-Superior Hotel Matthiol features exclusive spa facilities and offers a buffet breakfast from 8 am to 11:30 am. The spa area includes 3 types of saunas (Finnish, steam and aroma) and a whirlpool. The rest area with an open fireplace opens to a panoramic terrace and up-to-date fitness facilities are available as well. All guest rooms in the Matthiol hotel have a balcony, an iPod station and offer free wireless internet access. Inspired by the Mediterranean and the local cuisine, the chefs create gourmet dishes from market-fresh ingredients. The bar is an inviting place to spend the Après-Ski hours. Ski rental is available on site. Zermatt is a car-free resort and the hotel offers a free pick-up service from the Zermatt train station or from Spiess square. We just had an incredible stay at this lovely hotel... From Sarah helping us change reservations when we had a last-minute cancellation and re-booking despite the non-refundable fare, to meeting us at the train station, to the huge rooms decorated contemporarily, but soft and luxiouriously (the fur blanket/throw and towel warmers, robes and slippers are great!), to two incredible dinners and delectable breakfasts, you cannot go wrong here. They have it down. The spa is perfect (although you'll feel a bit like you are intruding if someone else is in the hot tub, it's pretty small, but very nice). The only (and this depends on how you look at it) downside is the walk from town center if you are lugging skis (at the time we were there, not enough snow for ski in/out). Get a locker at the base of Matterhorn lift and you'll solve that one. It was worth it for us for the views and quiet setting, and frankly, it's refreshing if not bitter cold. I really can't say enough about this place. We decided to eat in one night after a full day of skiing out of sheer laziness and discovered dining was incredible. Limited menu (of course, it's boutique hotel!) but literally amazing food. Can't get bored in a week with the menu and specials either. As for breakfast, it is European delight. I'd go back in a heartbeat to Matthiol.

Het was een zeer aangenaam hotel maar zermatt zwitserland blijft erg duur al krijg je wel kwaliteit en luxe. mag dus dan ook wel! Dat als je in het hoofdgebouw verblijft de gang naar de sauna je door het restaurant moet lopen zowel erheen als terug vinden wij een erg vreemde constructie dat als je aan het dineren bent dat er mensen in badjas voor je langs gaan?

Nous avons apprécié le calme de l'hôtel. Service trop long, nous avons attendu plus d'une heure pour recevoir un plat, l'ensemble du personnel n'est pas qualifié pour ce genre d'établissement.

Le surclassement en suite junior proposé suite à un problème avec la première chambre, le petit déjeuner, le spa et le style de l'hôtel. Personnel assez froid, produits de douche pas renouvelés durant le séjour. Bien que nous le savions à l'avance l'hôtel est assez éloigné du centre.

Modern decoration without loosing the usual swiss charm. Excellent wellness center. Very comfortable and spacious rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. Even though not so central, it was a nice location to start hikes directly from hotel without having to take cable cars. Very calm area.

Absolut empfehlenswertes Hotel der gehobenen Klasse. Wir hatten drei wunderbare Tage im Hotel Matthiol verbringen dürfen und freuen uns schon auf den nächsten Besuch. Super Einrichtung, einwandfreie Sauberkeit, gemühtlicher Spa-Bereich, perfektes Dinner. Alles was man sich im Urlaub wünscht wird im Hotel Matthiol geboten. Gratulation für das gesamte Matthiol-Team.

L'établissement est superbe, design et élégant. La suite est spacieuse et très fonctionnelle avec une grande salle de bain, une baignoire face au Cervin, un grand coin salon. L'hôtel est un peu en dehors mais parfaitement au calme. Le buffet du petit déjeuner est riche (produit de bonne qualité) Le jacuzzi n'est pas confortable, fait beaucoup de bruit et est de trop petite taille. Pas de service de chambre le soir.

Unzweifelhaft ein erstklassiges Hotel zum Energieaufladen und die Seele- baumeln lassen. Sehr freundliches und zuvorkommendes Personal. Schade, dass keine frisch gepressten Säfte angeboten wurden. Ansonsten war das Frühstück ein absolutes Highlight und bestach durch Frische, Vielfalt und Qualität.

Grande chambre, spacieuse, bel environnement. Spa-wellness à la fin d'une journée de marche c'est le top. Manque de chaise longue sur la terrasse. Peu de personnel parlant français pour un canton bilingue et un grand hôtel.
